The money quote.

“This is a situation where you’ve got an individual who you can’t get to comply,” Sonny Jackson with Denver police said. “You can’t just let him walk off for fear he might injure somebody else. So you have to take whatever actions you can to stop the situation.”

As far as the heat. I keep telling people it isn't that bad.

You could be stuck cleaning rotten soybeans out of a grain bin. :o

I always get a chuckle out of the yearly news pieces on the human suffering in New York when the temperatures soar into the - GASP - 90s. Around here, if it ain't over 105 it ain't hot. A high of less than 90 in June, July or August is notable.

What's your humidity there?

The reason it's a big deal in places like NY when it "only" gets into the 90's is because the humidity is 99-100% which makes it very oppressive. (http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=39.97044&lon=-74.69593&unit=0&lg=english&FcstType=graphical)

If you are somewhere that has low humidity, well yea, then 104 can be perfectly ok.

Sitting at 95 with 49% humidity and 72 degree dew point. This is what people are bitching about around my area. It's not that unbearably hot, especially in the shade with a breeze. Cold beer doesn't hurt either.

I think it has to do with the conditioning with these excessive heat warnings. Warning in effect for 6-7 days.

OMFG, it's hot outside! ::)

Then they've got nothing to bitch about then.

This is a local story for me; for the past year I've been in Denver and have visited the zoo plenty of times. On the news I heard a spokeswoman say that they can't let the people cool their heads off in the fountain for safety reasons, and when someone disobeys the policy, that's why they had to kill him. Don't you see, they killed him to make sure he was safe!!! And anyone else who gets too hot during this summer heat wave, keep away from the fountain, because if you try to cool off in it, they may have to kill you too!

Oh yeah, in the peaks of the Rocky Mountains, there is still snow. Amazing to feel the cold dry air and see snow this deep in the summer, but at those high altitudes (10,000+ above sea level), the snow lasts long into summer.

And yes, I work outside in that slop every day.

Made a desktop smilies file, and as I find smilies I copy them into it , then ether drag and drop, or upload as a image. Easy.

Gives the weather idiots on TV something to hype.

Ha ha, you're reminding me of those nice hot summers in south Texas where I used to live. Denver is much, much nicer. When the sun goes down it cools down. Low is in the 60's tonight. Ahhhhhh... :)
