...if she were still here, that is. She has Chihuahuas, right?
Web Exclusive: Chihuahua to the rescue
ALTADENA, CA (CBS) - A California dog proved that even the littlest packages can contain a lion's courage.
"I kind of want to put a cape on him, I think."
Paco, the Chihuahua, has been loyally devoted to his owner, Erik Knight, for about five years, and when robbers burst into his Altadena shop, he gave new meaning to the term "man's best friend." Paco chased them out of his business and across the street, nipping at their ankles the whole time.
"When I saw the video, and I saw them pointing the gun at Paco, it just kind of sent a chill down my back."
"I was shocked, 'cause normally he's kind of laid back, just sitting back, taking it easy. So, I finally said, to, I told his owner, I said hey, he finally earned his keep. We've been feeding him all this time. Look at him. He's not going to let anybody mess up his home'."
"For about a year, he comes in, in the morning. Every morning, he just comes to see whoever's cleaning or opening the bar."
Neighbors aren't surprised by the pooch's courage, and it's no wonder, Paco was protecting his home. He's become somewhat of a neighborhood mascot, walking business to business every day to visit his friends.
"He was a rescued dog, so I suggest everybody rescue a dog from the pound. You never know when you're going to need him. He knows a good thing when he's got it."
Whether Paco's daytime strolls are to meet-and-greet or to protect, he's one community member the neighborhood can't live without.

Apparently the robbers were dog lovers, seeing as how they didn't shoot the dog.
