Sounds like the going rate for silver eagles, in most areas it is a good buy but not for generics.
Wait, is that four percent? hell yah that is a good buy.
Thought you meant four dollars.

At this time, it's my opinion that we can consider 40 spot the average new low... go and buy!!!

$4 over spot is about average for SAE's at the coin shops in my local area. $4 over spot is high for .999 generic silver rounds and bars IMO. $4 over spot for any 1-oz silver art bar that is bought locally is a bit high IMO because I have bought silver art bars for a lower premium whenever I buy them locally. There are several dealers that I go to and those various dealers charge anywhere from spot to $3 over spot. It depends on the local dealer that I go to. While $4 over spot for a silver art bar is high but is much lower than bidding on one on ebay. 1-oz silver art bars that are sold (i.e. winning bid and BIN prices) on ebay cost about $10-$15 over spot for common-minted art bars so $4 over spot is not bad compared to what you will pay for a silver art bar on ebay. I am a collector and I believe that you should buy what you like and not let the $4 premium get in your way. If you are not a collector but just want to buy any .999 generic silver and if there are any other local shops in your area, then you should also visit those shops to see what premium they are charging for .999 silver before you go to the dealer that is charging $4 over spot silver.
