Just holding actual gold is an experience but there is a serious visual part too--

The Olympic one looks more like silver than gold, but I suspect it's just the lighting.

Thanks, Tom.
I almost bought a counterfeit one of the 1st coin pictured above. Wish I would have had your photo to refer to back then. This was in the wild and wooly early days of eBay, pre-ebay guarantee. Would you happen to have the "back side" of this first coin also photographed and available for posting? I certainly would appreciate it. I think I see the counterfeit ones still offered on eBay occasionally. I know I've reported a few of them over the years.
Thanks again for the most pleasant eye candy gold coin gallery this hot summer evening.

Tom, are you modifying these in Photoshop, or are these all straight camera pictures? Pretty flawless work nevertheless.

I'm certainly not as good as Tom at photographing coins, but here's my attempt at photographing my First Spouse Liberty sub-series coins:

Wow, what detail. THANKS! What incredible detail and symetry. Then coupled with your superb photography. Unbeatable. Thanks again, Tom D
May I have your permission to save to disk both obverse and reverse of this 4 ducat, for non-commercial purposes? I will start a TomD GS-US folder if I have your permission.

Sure, honored bs.

Every picture I take is in camera RAW format so it has to go through some editing software to be usable. My coin shots, once opened in CS5, will usually get cropped and maybe unsharp mask. At the bottom is an example of a shot with a lot of photoshop time.
