There has been a mini civil war in Turkey, the Islamists are winning.

ANKARA - Turkey's top military commander Gen. Isik Kosaner and the chiefs of the three forces abruptly resigned July 29 in the worst showdown between the secular military and the government of Islamist-leaning Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which came to power in 2002, the Turkish media reported.

Kosaner was the chief of the Turkish General Staff. The other three men who resigned are Army Commander Gen. Erdal Ceylanoglu, Navy Commander Adm. Esref Ugur Yigit and Air Force Commander Gen. Hasan Aksay.

News reports here cited a press statement by the three commanders, which said they saw "a need" to resign.
The resignations came only days before Turkey's annual meetings for military promotions.

More than 40 generals and admirals, of the military's 360-plus flag officers, are in jail and facing coup-related charges.

Turkey's top military leaders resign en masse
http://articles.latimes.com/2011/jul/29/world/la-fgw-turkey-generals-resign-20110730
The resignations of much of Turkey's military leadership is seen as a new sign of tension between the old guard of the armed forces and a rising Muslim political elite led by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The departures include the army's chief of general staff, Gen. Isik Kosaner, and the officers heading the Turkish ground forces, navy and air force.

Reporting from Beirut — Nearly the entire leadership of Turkey's armed forces departed en masse Friday, local media reported, in the latest sign of tension between the country's once dominant military old guard and a rising pious Muslim political elite.

[ Turkey and Israel have been allies, crypto Jews ran Turkey, Jews created Turkey, they destroyed European peoples, the NeoCons were their best friends and lobbied for them, Jabotinsky was a founding propagandist for Turkey, believe it or not, both Feith and Netanyahu families are linked to his Zionism, both fathers served as secretaries to Jabotinsky it has been reported, they may even be related some have speculated. Jabotinsky is a leading Bolshevik from USSR and founder of Israel, " kill the Palestinians. " Sounds nutz, USSR, Israel and Turkey, one man as a founder, Jabotinsky. ]

[ Don't look for the truth and explosive info from the " western " Zionist NeoCon press, I would love to see the news from Turkey, it ain't exactly a free press but would be very interesting, they are probably having show trials, lol . The crypto Jews are being purged, this is for real, no joke, if this does not stop, it will lead to something big, I don't think the Jews would like to lose Turkey, their creation and asset. Previous reports were that there were failed coupes going back ever since Erdogan spoke out strongly against Israel. ]

Turkey looks to restore order after top generals quit

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/07/31/us-turkey-military-idUSTRE76S70M20110731

By Daren Butler (http://blogs.reuters.com/search/journalist.php?edition=us&n=darenbutler&)
ISTANBUL | Sun Jul 31, 2011 8:50am EDT

ISTANBUL (Reuters) - Turkey's military and political leaders face a battle to restore order in NATO's second-biggest army Monday at a military council overshadowed by the resignation of its top four generals in protest at the jailing of hundreds of officers.

The long-running strains between the secularist military and Islamist-rooted government boiled over Friday when Chief of General Staff Isik Kosaner stepped down, along with the army, navy and air force commanders, leaving the armed forces in disarray.

Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, who will chair the four-day Supreme Military Council (YAS), has moved quickly to designate a successor to Kosaner and will be keen to smooth over a row which financial markets will be monitoring closely Monday.

President Abdullah Gul has denied any crisis and Erdogan's regular address to the nation Saturday focused on plans for a new constitution in the EU-candidate country, touted as a democratic model for a region in turmoil.

The resignations will enable Erdogan to consolidate control over a once-omnipotent military, which staged a series of coups since 1960 but whose power has been curbed by EU-backed reforms since pushing an Islamist-led government from power in 1997.

But the walkout has clouded the start of Erdogan's third term in office after an election victory in which his AK Party won 50 percent of the vote. It may also entrench Turkey's deep polarization between government supporters and opponents.

The YAS, which meets twice yearly to decide key promotions, faces a challenge to fill top military posts as the government opposes some leading candidates while others are on trial accused of seeking to overthrow the government.

Former gendarmerie chief General Necdet Ozel was named ground forces head and overall acting chief after Kosaner quit, but will only take over the armed forces after the YAS, said Milliyet columnist Fikret Bila, who has close military ties.

Bila said the other three top posts will also remain vacant until YAS ends. With another top general in jail, five seats among the 14 top generals are set to be empty at the meeting.

"The most keenly awaited issue is who will be appointed to head the land forces command," Bila said, noting the government is seen opposing some of those in line for the post.

Potential candidate General Saldiray Berk is likely to be ruled out as a defendant in a trial related to the alleged coup-plot "Ergenekon" conspiracy.

President Gul is not keen on a general who refused to shake the hand of his headscarved wife, and one who refused to meet him when Berk was serving in northern Cyprus, media said.

"If seniority is not respected, there could be further retirement requests," Bila said.

KEY CANDIDATES ACCUSED

The commander of Turkey's military academies General Bilgin Balanli, previously in line to take over the air force, is in jail and among 200 officers charged with involvement over the alleged "Sledgehammer" coup plot.

The alleged plot, including plans to bomb historic mosques in Istanbul and trigger conflict with Greece, centers around a 2003 military seminar. Officers say it was just a war games exercise and that evidence against them has been fabricated.

The Aegean Army commander may also not attend as he is among 22 people facing arrest over claims the military set up anti-government websites - a more recent case which is viewed as contributing to the decision by the top brass to walk out.

In his farewell message Friday, Kosaner said the jailing of 250 soldiers in the coup plot cases was legally unacceptable and that repeated bids to resolve the issue had failed.

"Despite their being no definitive judicial ruling against them, 14 jailed generals and admirals and 58 colonels ... have been punished in advance and lost their right to be assessed at this year's Supreme Military Council," Kosaner said.

This week's meeting coincides with start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and President Abdullah Gul is expected to hold a fast-breaking dinner for the YAS members at the Cankaya presidential palace in Ankara Wednesday evening.

The YAS decisions will be presented to Gul for approval on Thursday. No major statements are expected until then.

Investors will be closely watching for any fallout in financial markets Monday morning after the lira initially fell after the news broke early Friday evening.

But market attention is likely to focus more on debt woes in the United States and Europe, with investors looking beyond the immediate disarray to long-term military reform.

"I don't think the resignations will have a major impact on markets," said Altug Dag, a trader at EFG Istanbul Securities.

"I see this as positive in the medium to long term because the government is restructuring the army as they wish and this reduces the potential for possible future disputes," he said.

Sacking of Turkish top military officers appears to have been something more serious -- perhaps the suppression of an attempted military coup by Ergenekon holdouts. Bump. This is an important thread.

Turkish armed forces tried to execute a plan, Operation Sledgehammer (http://aangirfan.blogspot.com/2010/01/operation-sledgehammer-aimed-to-down.html) (or the Sledgehammer Security Operation Plan (http://www.todayszaman.com/news-200002-101-reactions-grow-against-sledgehammer-military-plot.html)) in order to overthrow the current government of Turkey using coordinated false flag terror attacks. Sledgehammer's goal was to blow up mosques a Turkish airplane and blame it all on Greece.

Turkey, like Saudi Arabia, follows a pattern of crypto judaism.

For example, the Young Turks organization (http://mostaqueali.blogspot.com/2008/04/more-crypto-jews-in-muslim-world.html), still around today, is/was funded and organized by Rothschilds in London.

The crypto nature of Turkey is important, especially as we approach the 10th anniversary of 911, because the Zionistas causing trouble in the US gov are a part of the criminal network that has its hands in Turkey.

CRYPTO JEWS, TURKEY, AND 9 11 (http://aangirfan.blogspot.com/2009/09/crypto-jews-turkey-and-9-11.html)

This is the stuff Sibel Edmonds talks about, and it gets worse. Way worse, as in these rogue Zionistas gave nuclear secrets (and weapons?!) to Al Qaeda and others.

Sibel Edmonds, Turkey and the Bomb
A Real 9/11 Cover-Up? (http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article19015.htm)

Summary of FBI Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds' August 8, 2009 deposition under oath

...Edmonds is asked about a deposition-related declaration in which she stated that she had, “obtained evidence that the government of Turkey had engaged in practices and policies that were inimical to American interests and had, in fact, resulted in both the direct and indirect loss of American lives.” As examples, Edmonds refers to the setting up of Madrassahs in order to radicalize Muslims to be Mujahedeen and use them as proxies in conflicts and terrorism; trafficking in heroin; “illegally obtaining and selling” US military weapons and technology including nuclear secrets, as well as other top secret information, including foreign policy secrets; and the exposure of Brewster-Jennings as a CIA front company investigating nuclear trafficking...

Considering all this the recent ousting of Turkish Generals and their lackeys, I am wondering how much truth there is to the claim that Mossad falls out with certain generals in Turkey? (http://aangirfan.blogspot.com/2009/01/mossad-falls-out-with-certain-generals.html)

For many years, Turkey has suffered from terrorism from a group called Ergenekon.

Ergenekon has been linked to Mossad, the CIA, NATO and elements of the Turkish military.

Mysteriously, there have recently been many arrests of Turks who are alleged to be Ergenekon operatives.

This may signal that Mossad and its friends have fallen out with certain Ergenekon generals.

It may signal that the Turkish government is fed up with Mossad and the CIA using Ergenekon to carry out acts of terrorism.

There may be a split within Ergenekon.

Ergenekon (organization) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergenekon_%28organization%29)

Ergenekon is the name given to an alleged clandestine, Kemalist ultra-nationalist organization in Turkey with possible ties to members of the country's military and security forces. The group, named after Ergenekon, a mythical place located in the inaccessible valleys of the Altay Mountains, is accused of terrorism in Turkey.

Ergenekon has frequently been shown to be part of the "deep state". The existence of the "deep state" was affirmed in Turkish opinion after the Susurluk scandal in 1996. Alleged members have been indicted on charges of plotting to foment unrest, among other things by assassinating intellectuals, politicians, judges, military staff, and religious leaders, with the ultimate goal of toppling the incumbent government.

Ergenekon's modus operandi has been compared to Operation Gladio's Turkish branch, the Counter-Guerrilla.

By April 2011, over 500 people had been taken into custody and nearly 300 formally charged with membership of what prosecutors described as “the Ergenekon terrorist organization”, which they claimed had been responsible for virtually every act of political violence – and controlled every terrorist group – in Turkey over the last 30 years.

American tanks should be rolling into Tel Aviv, not Baghdad.

we should be putting GPS' on the cars of all ADL rabbi's, Lubavitchers, and other Israel loyalists.

if they suddenly flee an area, an alarm could be sounded.

since Israel would not cooperate with an attempt to take their missiles, their terror support network (The SpoiledRottenschild's, for example) needs to be de-commissioned.

basically, the entire War on Terror infrastructure, if it were re-directed towards Israel & their supporters, would go far towards rooting them out.

tracking down their nuclear subs would become very, very important.

finally, a task that the US, Russia, & China could cooperate on !

You obviously dont understand the parable of the fig tree. If you did most of your confusion would disappear.
Yes, the tares are the liars, thieves and murderers who call themselves the chosen but are not. However, you fail to realise that two tribes stayed in the area after release of captivity and ten tribes went over the caucaucian mountains to settle Europe.
The fig tree sprouts both good and bad fruit from its branches, the tares and His People. This fig tree came about in 1948 when Isreal became a nation.
You are to decypher the differences, but this is over the land. The city of Jerusalem was born unclean and eventually became a very special place God fell in love with a long time ago and will restore her to her glory. In fact, He plans on returning His thrown on earth in Jerusalem just after Christ hands over the keys to earth.

I did not say Israel is bringing on prophecy. In fact, it is much the opposite. The world - and those who think that they can trample the land of Jerusalem without recourse are those about to see the fulfillment of prophecy against their desires.

Also, where did I mention the book of revelation?

Perhaps you should think more and use steady reason rather than just vomit emotion.

Yes! I was in Sweden though during this debacle. The admiral for the marine that quit, is actually an old friend of my father in law, dating back to when he went to Navy Officer School more than 50 years ago. I asked my father in law before this started whether he had an idea or suspicion, that his friend would end up the top brass. Never he said, there was nothing remarkable about him...

About Ergenekon. I don't believe it! It is a modern witch hunt, where the ruling Islamic AK party, is trying to get rid of the secular minded military. They tie up anyone in this mess who they think is opposing them ideologically. Turkey has a long tradition of doing this. For instance Atatürk, who the secular military look upon themselves as his guardians of heritage. He did the same together with an attempt on his life in mid 1920's. Every one of his major ideoloical opponents or within his party was arrested, and held for some time, only 2 people (if I remember correctly) were convicted of the murder attempt, and their political standing was already prior to the attempt very weak. The rest 50 or so were completely innocent without any shred of evidence, and were released, but I don't think any of them could continue their political career or opposition to Atatürk...

Turkish court convicts 326 former and current military officers of plotting coup

ANKARA, Turkey — A Turkish court on Friday convicted 326 military officers, including the former air force and navy chiefs, of plotting to overthrow the nation’s Islamic-based government in 2003, in a case that has helped curtail the military’s hold on politics.

A panel of three judges at the court on Istanbul’s outskirts initially sentenced former air force chief Ibrahim Firtina, former navy chief Ozden Ornek and former army commander Cetin Dogan to life imprisonment but later reduced the sentence to a 20-year jail term because the plot had been unsuccessful, state-run TRT television reported. The three were accused of masterminding the plot.

The court also convicted 323 other active or retired officers, including a former general elected to Parliament a year ago— of involvement in the conspiracy, sentencing some to as much as 18 years in prison. Thirty-six were acquitted, while the case against three other defendants was postponed.

The officers were all expected to appeal the verdicts.

The trial of the high-ranking officers — inconceivable in Turkey a decade ago — has helped significantly to tip the balance of power in the country in favor of civilian authorities.

Turkey’s generals have staged three coups since the 1960s and forced an Islamist government to quit in 1997.

But the current government of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has grown ever more confident with each of its three electoral successes since 2002, and has been limiting the powers of the armed forces which have long seen themselves as the guardians of Turkey’s secular traditions.

Erdogan’s government has hailed the trial, which began in December 2010, and other similar ones as a break with a tradition of impunity and a move toward greater democracy.

However, the officers’ case — dubbed “Sledgehammer” after the alleged conspiracy — has been marred by the suspects’ long confinement without a verdict and some judicial flaws, including allegations of fabricated evidence. The government’s secular critics have denounced the coup plot trials as a ploy to intimidate opponents.

Some defense lawyers have refused to appear in court for the past five months, saying the authenticity of some of the evidence was not investigated.

Erdogan said he hoped Friday’s verdict was a “just” one but refused to comment further, saying he had not seen the reasoning behind the verdicts and the proceedings against the military officers were not over yet.

“We have to see the appeals phase,” Erdogan said. “The final dot has not been placed yet. The process is continuing.”

Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said: “We all hope that no anti-democratic initiative ever occurs in our country again.”

Prosecutors accused the 365 defendants in the trial of plotting to depose Erdogan by triggering turmoil in the country that would have paved the way for a military takeover. They claimed the plotters, taking part in an army seminar in 2003, drew up plans for a coup which included bombings of mosques, the downing of a Turkish fighter plane and other acts of violence that would have allowed the military to intervene on the pretext of restoring order.

The military has said officers taking part in the seminar discussed a fictitious scenario involving internal conflict, but that there were no plans for a military coup.

Protests broke out soon after Friday’s verdicts were announced, Hurriyet newspaper reported, with some of the officers’ supporters booing the decision inside the courthouse and others waving Turkish flags and shouting “Turkey is secular and will remain secular” outside.

Celal Ulgen, the lawyer defending Dogan — accused of being the main ringleader — called the court’s decision unjust and unlawful. “Their rights to defend themselves were violated,” Ulgen told NTV television. “There is no independent judiciary.”

Dogan said in his final defense statement Thursday that the trial was a political one designed to undermine the military. “It is a case assembled to make soldiers, be they active-duty or retired soldiers, pay the penance for their loyalty to the republic and its (secular) principles,” he said.

More than 400 other people — including journalists, academics, politicians and soldiers — are also on trial on charges of involvement in a conspiracy by an alleged gang of secular nationalists called “Ergenekon.”

The former head of the Turkish armed forces, Gen. Ilker Basbug, and other military officers are, meanwhile, awaiting trial in a separate case.

Two elderly leaders of Turkey’s 1980 military coup, Kenan Evren and Tahsin Sahinkaya, are being prosecuted for the military takeover that saw many cases of torture, disappearance and extrajudicial killings.

Yes! I am starting to think I shouldn't comment on these things anymore... It was a show trial IMHO! The Islamists won, and I think they are as much in bed with Zionism, if not more than the secularists. Their main allies are the US and Saudi Arabia. Turkey used to have friendly relations with Syria and Iran, not anymore. Certainly Erdogan shouted at Israel after the massacre on Mavi Marmara two years ago, but there was no action. He only had to do that to stay in place of power. Same after the Gaza massacres 4 years ago. He is a refined Turkish power politician, that uses every trick in the book to gain advantage. But don't think he is a democrat.
