Ron Paul came in at a STRONG second place.

Zionist Bachmann - 4,823

Ron Paul - 4,671

Difference of only 152 votes out of 16,892 people voting. Ron Paul did extremely well this time around and almost won.

Bachmann is from Iowa, I think that had a lot to do with her winning.

Michele Bachman sucked. She was an empty skirt.

I thought Paul was very good. Maybe a little too cerebral. The lower level thinkers probably did not understand all he was saying. But he had the most substance.

Here is how I would have rated them-

1. Ron Paul
2. Herman Cain
3. Thaddeus McCotter
4. Rick Santorum
5. Michele Bachmann
6. Rick Perry (write-in)
7. Mitt Romney
8. Jon Huntsman
9. Tim Pawlenty
10. Newt Gingrich

DES MOINES, IA - Texas Congressman Ron Paul has won the first-ever online Iowa straw poll, capturing a commanding 44% of the over 6,000 votes cast in an online poll sponsored by Iowa Congressman Tom Latham's campaign. The results of the two-week online poll (located at: onlineiowastrawpoll.com) were announced one day before Saturday's Ames Straw Poll, which is considered by most as the first real test of a presidential candidate's organizational strength in Iowa.

The results of the online poll promoting Saturday's big event for the Republican Party of Iowa were:
1st - Ron Paul with 44% of the unique online votes
2nd - Herman Cain 16%
3rd - Michele Bachmann 10%
4th - Rick Perry 8%
5th - (TIE) Tim Pawlenty and Mitt Romney 5%
7th - Sarah Palin 4%
8th - "Someone Else" 3%
9th - Rick Santorum 2%
10th - (Tie) Jon Huntsman and Newt Gingrich with 1% of the unique online votes

It should be noted that Texas Governor Rick Perry and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin are not yet officially announced candidates for the GOP nomination and will not appear as options on Saturday's actual straw poll ballot in Ames.

"I congratulate Ron Paul and his campaign on this victory," said Iowa Congressman Tom Latham whose campaign for Iowa's new Third Congressional District sponsored the poll. "Regardless of the results, the most important message of this online poll is that Iowans are united in their motivation to bring common sense back to Washington. And it's clear why. Americans are tired of paying for Washington's failed and costly policies. They are ready to fight for leaders who will put people before politics and progress before partisanship to change the way Washington works and the work that Washington does to restore the confidence in the American Dream."

The Iowa Republican Straw Poll will take place Saturday in Ames, Iowa on the campus of Iowa State University. More details on the event can be found at: IowaGOP.org

I really don't get what the draw is to that lying, conniving, Zionist cock-holster, moneychanger TOOL, POS Herman Cain is. He's so transparent, yet people get sucked in. I suppose the vast majority really are that stupid.

Most people are slow to learn that these guys are all owned by a global power. The lies come in different shades to appeal to different parts of society. This is essential to make the people think they really have a voice in the government. If they vote and think they are represented, how can they not pay theor tribute?

They get sucked in for the same reason all the other lying, conniving, Zionist cock-holster, moneychanger, POS, tools do. People are conditioned to accept these attributes as qualities.

just the way Santorum tried to set the record "straight" about Iran.

Santorum's smile as he tries to convince us how dangerous is = SICK.

Ron Paul telling the truth about the US deposing Mossadegh in the 1950's - never thought i would see that on National TV.

i think perhaps Ron Paul can be trusted re. 9-11, he is just keeping his cards close to his chest, necessarily.

I think most all of us here appreciate the fact that 9/11 truthers are extremely mentally deranged. I mean really, those A-rab cavemen are fucking genius supermen to overcome the world's more awesome and powerful defense establishment - who cannot see that?? Geez...

Dr. Paul loses Iowa straw poll to Randy Travis!

Bachmann had a closed-off area with Randy Travis performing.. BUT.. to gain entry to the concert, people had to accept her free straw poll tickets and pledge to vote for her beforehand.. then they had to affirm they had voted before entering the tent

Who could be surprised at this outcome? It is her home state. Historically, the Iowa straw poll is meaningless as to who actually wins the nomination because the winner of it seldomly finishes the race, let alone 1st.

RP placed in a very good spot and looked great doing it, winning the debate in the online debate polling. MB on the other hand might have just peaked, only to go down from here. (Pardon the pun, given the pic above)

Bachmann beat out Dr. Paul by a mere 152 votes - do ya think having a Randy Travis concert garnered a few hundred votes??
