what's nice is when GLD opens, it'll appear to be a "breakaway gap", since it only trades during NYSE hours...

We had some resistance, it blasted through it intraday last week or so then fell back to the 1740 area.

This is the start of Jim Sinclair's $1650-gateway exponential boost.

This is the start of Jim Sinclair's $1650-gateway exponential boost.

I thought it was $1764? If you look at a year chart, the boosts have happened at $1315 and $1495. Were those amongst Sinclair's dozens of target numbers? $1650 was a non-event.

You're right, $1764 is where the exponential boost starts. But it was tied to his $1650 by May (?) prediction (which was delayed a bit). I think he said if we get to $1650 by May, then once we got to $1764, we go exponential.

That gap usually needs to get closed. But I wouldn't be that surprised if GLD is closed instead... Gold $2000 is in the pocket... Dayum!!!

If gold spot today stays above yesterday's 4PM ET price (close of NYSE) of ~1825, through 4PM ET today, then we'll have a 2nd gap in GLD price bars today.

when an item starts trading parabolic as gold is, gaps don't get closed, they just tend to breed more gaps, like the one shaping up for today. These GLD jobees aren't real gaps mind you, as GLD only reflects about 1/3 of gold's nearly round-the-clock global trading. If gold were to gap higher Sunday afternoon when Asian trading resumes, coming out of a period of non-trading globally (the weekend), due to an order imbalance (a flood of buy-at-market orders), that would be a genuine breakaway gap...

The make-believe gaps in GLD make for a pretty chart though...

Viewed in logarithmic scaling, you can see where gold here is beginning to break out of its long term uptrend, to the upside... click thumbnail to enlarge:
