JERUSALEM -- Israel's (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/intl/israel-PLGEO0000010.topic) Channel 10 TV reports a fourth attack in southern Israel.

There was no immediate confirmation of the shooting on Thursday from Israeli officials. Three attacks earlier near Israel's border with Egypt's (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/intl/egypt-PLGEO00000078.topic) Sinai Peninsula left some dead and wounded, according to the military. The exact number of casualties was not immediately known; however, rescue services say five people have been killed in a string of attacks in southern Israel.

The rare attacks in that area of the country took place near the southern resort town of Eilat, close to Israel's border with Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

Initially, the military confirmed assailants had carried out three consecutive attacks in southern Israel near the Egyptian border, killing and wounding a number of people.

Those attacks targeted a passenger bus, a private car and a group of soldiers. The number of dead and wounded was not immediately known.

Military spokesman Brig.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai says Israeli security forces tracked down some of the assailants and exchanged fire with them. He says the attackers used heavy weapons, possibly mortars or anti-tank weapons, and explosive devices during the attacks.

The IDF is blaming Hamas for this and Hamas is denying responsibility.

False flag terror.
