Silver Market Manipulation
Issue: Antitrust violations
Introduction
Lieff Cabraser is investigating alleged illegal conduct by major financial institutions on behalf of persons and entities who bought Commodity Exchange, Inc. ("COMEX") silver futures or options between March 2008 and the present.

Background on Silver Market Manipulation Investigation
Lawsuits have been filed against JPMorgan Chase & Co. and HSBC entities for alleged violations of Sections 9(a) and 22(a) of the Commodity Exchange Act ("CEA"), Section 1 of the Sherman Act, and Section 4 of the Clayton Act.

In these lawsuits, the plaintiffs allege that defendants manipulated the prices of COMEX silver futures and options contracts by amassing large net short positions in silver options contracts (including the sale of call options) and conspired to maintain artificially low prices of silver.

On October 26, 2010, Commissioner Bart Chilton of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission ("CFTC" or the "Commission") stated, "I believe that there have been repeated attempts to influence prices in the silver markets. There have been fraudulent efforts to persuade and deviously control that price. Based on what I have been told by members of the public, and reviewed in publicly available documents, I believe violations to the Commodity Exchange Act have taken place in silver markets and that any such violation of the law in this regard should be prosecuted."

it would help to see the legal record of the attorney & law firm. at this point - could be either. although, this law firm theoretically makes their money (on this case) by collecting from JP Morgue.

if they go for a quick settlement AND dismiss with prejudice (so it can't be re-filed) - that would be helpful for JP Morgue.

i have seen personal injury attorneys behave exactly as if they were representing the interests of an insurance company - their former employer - instead of the injured client. but i only found that by digging into Jury Verdicts Weekly (a California publication, quite fascinating, has all the cases in one place - it's like huge soap opera).

I think that they will pay enough money to make all of this "go away". COMEX will find a way to "win" without going to court.

Does the Morgue have a former VP who changed his name working as a staffer for a Congressman on the CFTC oversight committee?

Maybe they will just use Goldman's ace.

"Since March 8th".

Ya. What about the constant knock-downs from '08 back to who-know's when when the 4-8 largest traders were shorting silver endlessly, and were the goings-on of which brought silver into the limelight for those who paid attention to the likes of Ted Butler, David Morgan and Jim Puplava back in the very early part of the last decade?

Btw...thank you Ted Butler for all of your hard work and integrity. Many, like myself are much better off financially for the truth you selflessly pursued in the early years of your endeavour to expose the rats at the Comex.
