I see some of the online banks have a higher that local bank interest rate. Currently the highest is around 1.1% (DiscoverBank). I know PMs are best but I want to be diversified, and I keep PMs as more long term retirement type or shtf savings. I did buy some more ammo, but I have enough now of that.

I did briefly search the net on foreign bank accounts high interest like aussie, but I don't know how much fees are involved in converting to the foreign account and the hassle of it all.

Anyone know of some good high return investments besides PMs?

If you purchase 10 cows and a bull your investment is almost guaranteed to double within a year.

Sounds like you have too much money.

Why not buy inverse ETFs if you are looking for gains? You acan also play paper silver if you like paper.

Sure. Hogs are even better. Given two litters a year and averaging 10 pigs per litter the return is 20x the initial investment the first year.

That is if you have unlimited feed and already have all the facilities needed to take care of them.

Don't get bogged down in detail. I am trying to encourage a new investor.

If you're doing it for investment and money growth reason, a 1.1% gain is almost negliable from that stand point. You can easly make 10 fold that number on ETF's, Stocks or physical bullion in the same amount of time.

THe only thing it offers you is that its lower risk, in that you stand to lose less. However, with the current values of the dollar, you're likley to lose MORE in both the short and long term than you would simply riding the markets.

Now, the moral opinions of usury aside, unless you plan on regularly using this account as a main account, letting money sit in it for 1.1% gains is a net loser as far as thats concerned.

I got an offer from one of my insurance companies for 4% in early 2009. I figured they were going belly up (I am wrong to date) and never took the offer. Au and Ag have worked out much better.

It doesn't make sense imo. No physical branches turns me off. I am also guessing if you use their card to get cash out, you will be charged a fee from at least the other institutions branch.

I think I will just wait out a few more months and then buy some acreage. That was my plan all along, but I guess no need to move my money around twice. The other option is to buy more PMs on a big dip, if that ever happens and buy the land on a short term loan, or maybe just wait a few additional months.

lend it to me

I will pay you a attractive rate of interest tax free and I will pledge a third of the loan amount in hard currency to be held in escrow as collateral.
