View Full Version : Sharing My files with you - GIM1 archives, etc
big country

Back before the Original GIM shut down a member (specsaregood) went through and saved some of the subforums that were small enough to grab before the site went offline. AFIAK general discussion was never saved.
If anyone has a them already shared in a better easier to grab format feel free to share that too. For now I bought a premium 4shared account for a few months to share them all with you guys -- and to run some tests to see if this website (4shared) will accomplish what I'm hoping.
I'll be updating this 4shared account with all of my relevant PDFs and documents as I organize them and get them uploaded from my computer to my new, accessible from anywhere, web space that won't die if my computer crashes.
For now, enjoy the GIM1 archives. Please let me know if you are having issues downloading them or accessing them as that is part of the exercise that I'm trying to accomplish. You're my testers -- but in return you get the GIM1 archives I have (and everything else I get around to uploading and sharing here soon). I know non-premium members can only download 1 file at a time just so you know.
http://www.4shared.com/dir/3219gKfa/_online.html
I am converting all of my files, 1 by 1 into PDFs for device portability and readability and will upload in batches as I get them finished.
Update 8/24
First of all a special thanks to MAGNES for hosting the GIM1 archives that I was missing so I could grab them and complete the archive list.
All of the GIM1 archives that survived should be available now on my 4shared. I would like to let everyone know that they will be hosted here for atleast 3 months, but if you want them I urge you to donwload them to your PC instead of relying on them being accessible here forever.
Deleted some of my posts to clean up the back-and-forth relating to getting the missing archives from MAGNES
---------------------
Added Food and Water PDFs - sub-sorted and filed them for a finer granularity
Update 8/25

full archive of most files (doesn't include canning or most some of the knots)
Update 9/24

I was going to put them there but dogman deleted the links to the actual library that was up for awhile. I geuss that library is gone now. I will repost the link in that thread too after this one has gotten some exposure and falls off the front few pages.

Wondering if it should be in a 'members only' area...

I will repost the link in that thread too after this one has gotten some exposure and falls off the front few pages.I deleted the links and most of my posts , because after the forum move the links were broken, and the library was gone. I have not had contact with the owner as for the whys. I did leave everything else in the thread, but why have broken links ? so I wiped them and left the working ones. As far as I know the library still exists, but maybe not , because my mod link to the library was broken also.
Sorry for that but none of it was under my control or doing. except removing the broken links and my other posts.

People should grab these, open the rar's in one folder, do key word searches, works great.
I did it a few times already.
The original one is down, credit to Specsaregood for this work.

http://mrcoaster.com/GIM
WORKS, PKG from gim tried to rebuild the archive.
http://www.thejoojooforum.com/gim/
Some links are good some are not, it is not complete.
You can save what is left somehow, you can also do this.
Very powerful searches using google site:
site: www.thejoojooforum.com/gim/ (http://www.thejoojooforum.com/gim/)
http://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awww.thejoojooforum.com%2Fgim%2F&btnG=Search&hl=en&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=
I saved some cherry pics just by using firefox, save web page complete, worked great and fast.

Takes less than a minute, Specsaregood saved them in text, just so people know, they are clean.
Okay I am putting them up.
ORIGINAL SAVES TIMESTAMPS from my drive, untouched, using firefox fireshot jpeg maker.
Scanned with antivirus, 2, and malwarebytes, updated, never had a problem.

first of all huge thanks for hosting the files!!!!
but I have a question coming from a non tech saavy person...I downloaded all the files and when I click on one of the page links (ie bartering and horsetrading page 1) the only way it can be displayed is as a tab to a web browser. Am I able to view them "offline" if you will?!

What I do is drag and drop the htm file, there are no graphics or anything like that.
In a firefox tab. You are viewing them offline, the path should show you this.
I can also click on it and open it in mozilla composer, the old browser that I use for html
basic editing and formatting, this is setup as my default just for html docs.
There are newer basic text/html that are free like notepad+ that open all formats.
I tried using some of these to do basic stuff, I am sure you could set up MS office
to read them too. Using composer is easier though for my basic needs, I ain't
tech savvy either.
Put them all in one folder, very easy to search. Keep the original zips.

They open to a web browser because they are HTML file formatted pages. They will open if you aren't connected to the internet. If you look at the address bar of the page that loads it should be a local drive like c:/filename.
You can right click and open in notepad or whatever else you would like to view them in, but a web browser will be your best experience. Just to reiterate if you've saved it to your PC and are opening it that way...even though it is in a web browser it will still open if you aren't connected to the web.

the quality on the file is terrible. I cant even read it. Did the host compress it or something or is my tablet screwing it up.
I uploaded to other hosts, 2 shared seems good.
It seems to be uploading the whole file untouched.
I get all text when I view these and a bit of formatting.
There are absolutely no graphics, no buttons, just some
html formatting. Reads good on firefox or composer.
Can someone confirm they are okay ?

I often wished I'd saved my thread in conspiracies, titled something like "Light Blue Neckties on DC Pol's: Izzy/UN/NWO?
Most of the replies were from me, as I'd post pics as they'd come out in the news of key speeches, events etc where the "leader" would be sporting the telltale powder blue necktie- color of Izzy's and the UN's flag. It brought the point home pretty well, these pol's are serving a master other than who the populace is led to believe.
It would be good to rebuild that thread here, as it's one of those in-our-faces symbols which I never see noted. The PBS piece below hints around that something is afoot with the blue ties, but they refrain from going there, spinning it instead as benign, coincidental, fashion trend yada yada.
The OP cited this article which was a segment on PBS Newshour in '03,
TIES THAT BIND (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/essays/july-dec03/mudd_11-26.html)

November 26, 2003

Former NewsHour correspondent Roger Mudd returns with some observations about what some people are wearing around their necks.
ROGER MUDD: Not since George Schultz, Ronald Reagan's secretary of state, wore the same necktie four days in a row back in 1983, has there been anything quite like the blue tie phenomenon of the George W. Bush administration.
It's not that it's gone unnoticed, it's just that nobody has seemed willing to talk about it. That is until tonight. ( Cheers and applause )
The phenomenon began soon after the president's inauguration more than two years ago, when America's chief executive would show up from time to time wearing a tie whose color was unknown in Washington, D.C. -- not the familiar power red or the Ivy Leaguer's stripe or the diplomat's polka dot or even the bureaucrat's standard silk foulard, but a blue that seemed more at home on a teenaged girl's bedroom wall than on a necktie.
It was a blue that the paint store color charts might call "rock-a-bye blue" or "bassinet blue," and it was a blue that sent a signal: "I, George Bush, am from Texas. I wear cowboy boots. I wear blue jeans. I talk with a twang. But that doesn't mean I can't be sensitive once in a while."
As Washington has discovered about this administration, once a signal goes out from the Oval Office, it's heard and heeded from the west wing all the way to fish and wildlife. Quietly but without hesitation, the men of this administration began to add to their tie racks those blue cravats that branded them as George Bush men. One of the first was the president's political guru, Karl Rove, and, of course his press secretary. Then came the attorney-general. Other cabinet secretaries, like Spencer Abraham, quickly fell in line, not to mention their Secret Service escorts. Even deputy secretaries got the word. The blue buzz naturally reached California.
SPOKESMAN: Mr. Speaker, the president of the United States. ( Cheers and applause )
ROGER MUDD: And when the president gave his state of the union speech in January, he could look down on a bevy of blue-tied Republicans: McConnell of Kentucky; Santorum of Pennsylvania; Lott of Mississippi; Roberts of Kansas; Smith of Oregon; and in the front row, Commerce Secretary Evans, out blued by Labor Secretary Chao.
The blue tie had become, it seemed, a badge of loyalty. Only few have dared to hold out. To date there is no usable evidence that either Secretary of State Powell or C.I.A. Director Tenet has worn a Bush blue in public, but that might change if their oversight is pointed out. On his recent trip to London, the president wore that blue tie two days in a row, trying no doubt to let the Brits know that like his daddy he really has a kinder, softer side.
How proud he must have been to see the prime minister wearing not only a blue tie, but a blue shirt, and how even prouder he was when wearing his white tie and tails, he fell in beside Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace and saw that she was wearing his blue. It is true that The Washington Post in one of its early dispatches from London, reported that President Bush was wearing "his familiar blue tie." But that line vanished from all later editions, and has not been seen since. So once again, the NewsHour continues to breaking new ground. I'm Roger Mudd.
And it's demrats & repugs alike, not just the ziocons,

It's a big jpeg, you have to open it up on big screen, it does that to me too.
I put it up mostly for the history, to have a little fun too, I have a thread on
here too on the masonic round.
I hope everyone that missed the archive gets it.
Highlight it somehow.

We recorded history on there,
I saved some key threads full of links and pics, using firefox,
the google caches were up for quite a while, I was highlighting
those in my signature and encouraging people use them before
they are gone. I saved mason threads and posts from caches
as well. There is some good stuff in there. I missed saving some
key threads from agora full of links, my classics thread and my
a metals thread on coins I built up full of good pics too. Something
took the site down and the backup was not complete.
magnes i also got banned then
That was funny back then, lots was happening, lots of people got banned,
I just lost track, J6P put up links and got banned too I think,
they were removing threads too as we were posting. I was typing fast.

For the next few days it will be all food and water...cooking, recipes, how-to's on stoves/smokers/etc, canning, jerky making

I'm using PDFcreator to make the files. You can do your editing in any program that can print. Then you basically "print" to the PDFcreator and it creates the output into a PDF instead of sending it to your line printer.
EDIT:
Here is a link to the program. Nice and lightweight.
