I don't pretend to make investment advice but I will say that I'm betting significant amounts of my own bucks on this coin intro. I'll keep some for my collection, the 5's are VERY nice. If this coin isn't worth the premium, nothing is.

I would think that the Dragon premiums will continue to go up based on what I have seen on ebay but I am basing that on the 2000 Lunar Dragon silver coin. In my opinion, the real gauge of the Dragon worth will be on ebay since ebay seems to be the main place online where a person can sell a certain collectable silver coin or bar for a huge premium over melt value. This is just my take on this.

A quick look at completed listings on ebay for the last couple of weeks for previous lunars versions give me what I think is a good handle on the values. In rough figures based on about 50 sales each, Mouse: $60, Ox: $55, Tiger: $67, Rabbit: $62. I'd didn't do the math but those figures are about where the bulk of the transactions tend to cluster, there are low and high sales. There is significant variability in the values of the various years of the series 1 and there is no reason to suspect that that won't also be true with series 2. Based on this, I'll make a prediction as to the near term worth of the dragons: spot + $30-$40. Long term, it's a crap shoot.
The 1 oz version is the one to have, mintage is limited to 300,000 worldwide.
With silver at $40, the buy in price gets to be important, on the earlier versions, not so much.

I just had a disturbing though. What if Apmex pulls the same shit with these that they did with the America the Beautiful coins??? I'm not sure the folks who bought those had ANY recourse.
Thoughts?

I have seen a 1-oz silver 2012 dragon sell on ebay for $330.00. That one that went for $330.00 was NGC MS-70 graded. I also have seen a raw 1-oz silver Dragon on ebay with a bid of $118+ so far with 1 day 20 hours left in the auction.

I ordered several 2's, 5's and 10's from Apmex but they haven't shipped yet. Some of the coins are getting out there from somewhere. I'd like to have had mine early, there are some insane prices going on ebay, proof 1 oz at $400 and 1 oz BU coins at around $200. That's nuts. I'm pretty sure things will settle down as the coins get out there in quantity.
