I don't have the 2012 offering yet but I have some from 2000. You have to admit that this is an example of coin art. And anytime you can combine art with profit, life approaches perfection!

The new 2012 dragon coins are this image but mirror imaged. I suppose there are worse things----

My 1/2-oz silver 2000 Dragon coin is not nearly as pretty as yours TomD, but I was just very happy to snag mine for $20.00 while I was at a small coin show in the Atlanta area about 2 weeks ago. Those Lunar Dragon coins must be very popular silver coins because I have seen some very large premiums on them that were sold on ebay and I saw some Dragons with large premiums on them at some of the coin shows that I attended this year.

Dang, those are publishable quality photos there! Have you offered to sell your photos to the mints or other distributors of the coins? I can't imagine they wouldn't want them.

Thanks. Actually a couple of years ago one of the major online sites contacted me to see if I was interested in working full time for them. As it is now, I have several clients for whom I do their photography. Thanks though! The Lunar Monkey picture was picked up a couple of years ago by a travel magazine when they were doing a piece on Western Australia. Apparently if you just happen to be in Perth, you'll want to go by the mint. For me, that would be like a Muslem going to Mecca.

Looks like a Spit and it is a late WWII British make but it is a Hawker Sea Fury (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_Sea_Fury). Several of the pictures of Sea Furies on the Wiki link are with the same markings. This particular aircraft is owned by the Commemorative Air Force which was known as the Confederate Air Force before political correctness ran amuck.

I saw these things a week or two ago. Damn pricey then. It was 99 CAN for 21 grams of Ag or something similar.

I remember when spot was $12 they were selling such things at $36. Seems they like to sell these double or triple the spot price.

Its pretty cheap for $15 face value (that I assume will be honoured in the fiat of the time (assuming its not all anarchy)).
You can by 17 of these to give you $255 face value for the same in an ounce of gold Maple with $50 face value.

Not that this has ever much influence my investing more than couple of purchases, but if you pull it off a silver investment with this angle, one can brag about it years from now to their kids (and the gold bugs). :)
