In his 1863 Gettysburg Address, President Lincoln embraced the Declaration of Independence as the foundation of the Republic — a foundation which had been undermined by the apologists for slavery. We remember that Mr. Lincoln said: "Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth, on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal."5 Echoing Professor Jaffa, Garry Wills wrote in Lincoln at Gettysburg: "The Gettysburg Address has become an authoritative expression of the American spirit — as authoritative as the Declaration itself, and perhaps even more influential, since it determines how we read the Declaration. For most people now, the Declaration means what Lincoln told us it means, as a way of correcting the Constitution itself without overthrowing it." Jaffa would argued that the Founders meant what Lincoln said at Gettysburg.

Drafted by Thomas Jefferson between June 11 and June 28, 1776, the Declaration of Independence is at once the nation's most cherished symbol of liberty and Jefferson's most enduring monument. Here, in exalted and unforgettable phrases, Jefferson expressed the convictions in the minds and hearts of the American people. The political philosophy of the Declaration was not new; its ideals of individual liberty had already been expressed by John Locke and the Continental philosophers. What Jefferson did was to summarize this philosophy in "self-evident truths" and set forth a list of grievances against the King in order to justify before the world the breaking of ties between the colonies and the mother country. We invite you to read a transcription (http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/declaration_transcript.html) of the complete text of the Declaration.

Well, she's dissing Lincoln big time now isn't she. And she's dissing the Constitution, insinuating that it is segregationist, racist and invalid. She loses any credibility with the faux pas about Lincoln signing said Constitution. The blacks in America have become arrogant in their neverending demands for "justice." They demand we discount their ignorance, of history. They demand that we treat them with the greatest of sensitivity while they call us racists and disparage western civilization. The blacks will not be reasoned with and never be satisfied. They are destroyers of civilization. This is why Africa is a cesspool and there are no great civilizations attributed to blacks. The whites are soon going to have to make a choice. They will either surrender their birthright and civilization to these latter day savages in the name of political correctness and commit collective racial and cultural suicide. Or, they will get off their collective haunches and deal with this "negro" problem once and for all, with force if necessary.

did you guys know lincoln signed the delcaration of independance?

Don't know what a delcaration is but to this day it is possible to sign the declaration of independence.

The reason being:

Several of the "original" signers were late signing and a precedent was set when they were permitted to sign the document a week (or month) later. What society permits of one they must permit of all. I have heard that there is a registry of signers maintained in Washington and it is possible to this day to have your signature symbolically affixed to this document.

That's probably what she meant. Anyone who thinks that she was just being stupid is a racist.

Except for blacks and brain-damaged white people, MLK does not even register anymore. In this day and age he's just another used car salesman in the dustbin of history. He's gotten more traction as a dead guy with his name emblazoned on countless streets and avenues than he ever got as a living agent provocateur. His spawn probably don't even realize the irony of his memorial being made in China by unpaid laborers (but they're Chinese not black so no mileage on exploitation to be had). Anything to keep the dream alive. And that's all it was - a dream. Cue the shepherd hook stage right and bring on the next act. This one is way past its shelf life. The only Lincoln these people know has 20" rims.

MLK does not even register anymore. .

Oh he registers alright...every great city in our nation seems to have a MLK Boulevard. Of course, if you are white you'll most likely get shot there, even if you celebrate MLK on MLK blvd.
