China's still adding a huge number of new drivers to its roads each year. But not many are as new as one kindergarten-aged girl who was recorded driving for several minutes on an urban road. The video, apparently recorded by her parents, features some gentle guidance from her father like "Pay attention when passing other cars."

The girl manages to drive without incident until she's relieved at the wheel--and now she's already approaching 300,000 views on Chinese video sharing site Youku. Comments from Chinese netizens ranged from simple exclamations of "scary," to praising the girl's driving abilities. One commenter wrote: "Are the parents super courageous? Or just brain-dead?"

Yawn.
My parents started me driving (with me sitting in dad or mom's lap, steering the wheel) when I was 4, I was a fully functional (stick-shift) driver at 8, and drove my own 90cc motorcycle around town (NEVER had a problem with the swine, things were DIFFERENT back then!) by the time I was 10.
I weep at how far we've fallen... that such a basic human function is now "novel" and "cute" because of our coddled nanny-state BS restrictive civilization! :(
