looking for any kind of work and was scanning craigslist... looks like everything is brought into some sort of retarded (again absolutely no offense to the disabled) category or another, Where do I look or post an ad? I know I know what can I do etc... just point me to the want ads or where I can post wanted ads, I am pretty sure I am being blocked by ghostery, noscript, or blatantly blocked from (no offense) retardeness which I believe is my personal problem.

Sorry for the OT but want to start generating more income start next week.

Thanks for putting up with my continuing BS and I will add more later.

Have a great weekend all!~

Once someone walks me where to go I will delete this most important thread :-)

I think you go into the category that you want to offer your services in (say "household services"), and there's a link at the top right that says "post".

Detroit? Jeez, the best work opportunity there is demolition. Try to start working on removing all those derilict pos houses there, falling apart. If you need firepower, plenty of folks on this forum could probably help. :)

Maybe we ought to have something on this forum, to allow folks to market their skills and knowledge. Could help the direction we are going, and help support barter economies.

Here is an idea:

Buy some baguettes from a local bakery fill them with cheese, ham, tuna, meatballs, pickles, lettuce, tomato, wrap them, put them in a basket, and go around to offices and shops selling them to people working, before lunch, at a reasonable price. I did this in Sweden during the recession in the early 90's and I made a profit of around $2-3k a month, working 4-5 hours a day...

Go around to the offices, and ask the managers/owners if they would be interested in your service, bring a price list they can put on a notice board...

That is a great idea. When I worked in an office, we had people come around with a basket of muffins. They were way overpriced, but when you are glued to your desk, it's awesome.

If anyone tries this, remember that you have to be extra nice to the "gatekeeper" - the person whose job it is to keep you out. Give them freebies, and you're in.

Just so you know: replies you receive to almost any ad on craiglist will be 50-70% scams.
Any reply that sounds generic is probably fake.

Neuro, that is a great idea. Remember, Detroit though. How long would Cebu would last walking the streets of Detroit with a basket of fresh food?

http://www.scrapgolduniversity.com/

I was considering looking into this if my business started tanking (it's stable at the moment thankfully.) It's an affiliate program that helps you start your own scrap gold business (though it's not free.) Gold scrapping is booming business, and you already have the knowledge since you post here. I've been watching this guys YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/ScrapGoldBusiness) for a while and he seems really knowledgeable. Just an idea.

thats weird you mention it, I was in some place recently, and saw someone doing that with fresh muffins, etc.... and it was like the whole place "Attacked her" (seriously)
the best part of their day was seeing her and that basket of goodies....

I have a business idea that I'll share that I think could be quite profitable. My strongest skillset is boats, working on them, driving them, etc. This idea may require starting up an LLC and getting the appropriate licenses. If anyone wants to take this idea an run with it, feel free. It'll require a decent amount of research to determine if and how profitable it can be however.

Basically, in marinas all over the country, there's derelict sailboats sitting there costing these marina's money. When someone abandons the boat, the marina takes ownership of the boat after a certain amount of time. But, it sits there, taking up space, and these marina's want to get rid of them to free up the dock space for paying customers.

These boats often have equipment that can fetch good money...a mast in good shape can bring in over a thousand, sails in good shape...hundreds of dollars. Stainless winches a hundred each or so. The list goes on if you know what to look for.

Also, the keel is the paydirt. The keel is solid lead in most cases. The price of lead currently is over $1 a pound. Even smaller sailboats can have over 3000 lbs of lead. That's $3000 at least, all you need to do is chop off the keel and take the metal in.

You go to these marinas, and take ownership of the boats as cheap as possible with the condition of getting the boat out of the marina. Some of them you might even get for free, or maybe the marina would even pay you to take them if you enter into a contract to get rid of all their derilict boats. This is where you need to research.

So, You take the boats to a local boatyard, haul them out of the water, chop off the keel onto a flatbed truck and recycle it, then dismantle them....strip any gear that's worth money, then chop the thing up and drag it to the dumps.

My side business plan of late is offering to work for free momentarily, and pay when & if the money does showup.

Cebu,
will you're looking for work, you might consider a twist on the discarded cardboard angle. My grandson (16) saw an "Instructable" on the net for making pretty nifty cardboard furniture that looks decent: nightstands, shelving, etc. The cardboard is free if you know where to look. Some glue, some stain and voila, he's got a product that sells like hotcakes at he local "flea market" on weekends when he's not in school. Keeps him out of mischief, is a small footprint, and he's bought his own first car with it. Just wanted to encourage you to find another way to skin the unemployment cat!

Hang in there, bro'

Absolutly, talking with a friend that moved out of this mess said that whoever he hires wants pay that day or the next, not even waiting for a Friday. We both laughed because we were from the same camp, work a week for free to learn and after that get paid what they thought we were worth. Weeds out the BS employers too because we both ended up self employed. Made 11 calls so far yesterday and today and no responses yet. Just hoping to save enough to bail out of this shithole sooner than later.

in that regard, sell everything you aren't attached to (or can't carry), close your eyes, throw a dart at the map, and GTFOOD!! if the situation is that bad, you would be better off almost anywhere other than where you are currently...

Mow yards for cash. Go for old folks, they need their yards mowed. Trimming their hedges, etc. You don't need the greatest machine. Just keep up the maintenance and do a good job. Be meticulous. Old folks love that.

Your adventure enlightens me, LT, and makes me proud to call you a friend.

Cebu, have you thought about that? Not sure what you have in reserves, but selling what you need and buying an old RV and travelling around. Picking up work as you go. I know if you came out here, I could probably help you find some good work. I know a guy who's business is booming, he actually thinks like us...he tries to get his contracts to pay in gold and silver. He gives a discount to his clients if they pay in gold coin.

Want adds or letters, never worked for me.

I have to get a haircut, get dressed and get out there and meet them.

My favorite boss, if he got a "F'n Resume' would throw it right in the can.
