With major construction at a near standstill in Las Vegas, it's about time somebody put all that unused heavy machinery to good use.
Just across the highway from the Strip, the newly opened Dig This is basically a sandbox for grown-ups: for $750, you get a 10 minute lesson on how to operate machines like excavators and bulldozers, and go can wild pushing around as much sand, dirt and tires as you can handle. Trainers give guidance over headsets as well.
Creator Ed Mumm, who thought of the idea while building his own house in Colorado, says that it's a good stress reliever (http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/274727/193/Life-sized-sandbox-latest-entry-on-Vegas-strip).
"They've forgotten about all the stresses in their lives because the fact is, they've got to focus on that piece of equipment. When they get in there and they rev up that engine, they know they've got a serious program on their hands."
It wasn't clear whether the stress being discussed was due to the holes people had dug themselves into across the street at the casinos.
