WASHINGTON (http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&where1=WASHINGTON&sty=h&form=msdate) — The FBI and the Homeland Security Department are warning about small airplane terror threats just days before the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, but authorities say there is no credible or specific information about a plot.

The FBI and DHS say as recently as early this year, al-Qaida considered ways to attack the aviation sector because it would have a greater impact than other means of attack. That's from a Sept. 2 bulletin obtained by The Associated Press.

The bulletin was sent to law enforcement and private officials around the country but was considered routine. The five-page document described al-Qaida's continued interest in recruiting Western terror operatives to get training on flying small aircraft.

Federal and local law enforcement have increased security around the country before the anniversary.

False flag attack averted? Bomb stolen from terrorists and safely removed from airport.

Phoenix police take blame in stolen-bomb flap (http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/local/articles/2011/09/06/20110906phoenix-police-stolen-bomb-investigation.html#ixzz1XU6oP8iU)
Sept. 6, 2011 08:56 PM The Arizona Republic

The Phoenix Police Department has taken full responsibility for recently losing a bag containing explosives during a security test at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, and acting Chief Joe Yahner vowed to conduct a full internal investigation of the incident.

Officers were conducting a training exercise with bomb-sniffing dogs on Friday about 2:30 p.m., when a training aid with explosives inside went missing. It turned up Monday on a south Phoenix roadside.

Yahner said officers had placed the blue, soft-sided Igloo container, like "you might put your lunch in," in a public area of Terminal 4. Inside were the explosive devices.

...On Monday, a motorist driving on Lower Buckeye Road near 19th Avenue saw the Igloo container on the side of the road and recognized it from news reports. He found the tubes of explosives still inside and called police.

It shouldn't be too long now until all private aircraft ownership is outlawed...
