We had a pretty good up day on Friday (gold up $58, silver up $1.75), so when markets open up tonight in Asia and tomorrow in the US, do we see more positive movement, or back in the red? Is anything going on this week that should influence it one way or the other?

Up imo.

Both closed near hod on friday in the afterhours. Greece is shitting the bed again this weekend. The wikileaks thing about China and gold doesn't help.

But does it really matter? The NFL season kicks off this week. ::)

I actually know people that have agreements with their employer to alter their work schedule to accommodate the NFL schedule.

Well - Since prognostication based in sound reason as of late has left us bewildered........

I'll go with a down open.

And football is for meathead closet gheywads.

Baseball is the intellectual 'merican athelete's sport.

i don't have a clue. but i'll be watching.

as for sports ... this week the pro surfers go to New York City. yes, they have waves there, well, at least on Long Island. i forget the name of the Hurricane this week that will provide the waves.

i have dreams about playing pro football myself. i'm 5'7" 180 pounds. but my knees would last maybe 60 seconds. seems like a fun job (until LT gives you a compound fracture) - you get paid decent $$ to work out. then you block, run, tackle, throw, catch, get knocked out. the trainer gives you injections of cortisone. the doctor gives you Vicodin. then you sit down at the training table and pork out.

and you make $500K as a second string player.

what's not to like ?

The DOG might be waking up but the JPM shorts will beat it down back to sleep if it enters that $48-$49 range. Just remember what happened to the DOG in early May when it was in that $48-$49 range.

You are right that $50 is a major barrier for silver, equal to or maybe even greater than the $1000 barrier for gold way back when. I agree that as silver approaches $48-49 again, that there will be another attempt to smack it down, but even JPM might not have enough muscle to keep it down if silver decides to throw some hands and fight back.

this brings up the question of how they set their targets for these takedowns.

it seems like they usually go for round numbers.

a few weeks ago, when gold dipped into the low $1700's, it dipped to $1705. i wonder if $1705 was their target, or if they were going for $1700 and didn't quite make it, or if maybe it did make it to $1700 for a second, not long enough to show up in the chart.

as far as $50 silver, i don't know how the market works for the speculators. if they all pile in and start buying if silver goes above $50, i can see why the manipulators would try & keep it below $50.

That would make sense to me. If JPM allowed silver to go past $50, then it could be to "da moon" from that point on because I do not think that there is any resistence after $50. I think that the $50 level is seen as the last stand for JPM.

What's more sad? Employers that bow to the demands of a die hard fan or a die hard fan that feels the need to alter his work schedule to accommodate his fantasy?

Hey Ximmy, since silver is a DOG and it's really worth nothing, then you can give me all of the 1-oz silver art bars that you might have and I will be very generious by paying you 20% of silver spot for each one. :D
