"Amistad" - Spielberg's Inspirational & Compassionate Movie about American Slavery

or, why we need a Sarcasm Emoticon for titles.

I listened to this movie.

It was good in the sense of showing an important episode of American history, an uprising by Africans against their American captors, and the subsequent trials they go through (3 trials, it goes to the Supreme Court).

It also shows the complicated politics of slavery - how the South, Spain, and various other groups wanted to continue slavery, while American Christians groups and "the North" wanted to abolish it.

But what it doesn't show - the widespread involvement of Jews in the slave trade.

The Lie that it tells - it makes Spielberg look compassionate, making a movie about something that happened 180 years ago, when Israel is practicing similar cruelty today - a matter about which Spielberg is obviously silent.

( My guess is, the Jews were also involved in the abolitionist side, given their tendency to try to control both sides in American politics. )


The movie also takes a pot shot at Queen Isabelle of Spain, showing her as a spoiled brat-child, literally jumping up & down on her bed while her staff tries to administer her schedule.

That is the Queen Isabelle of the early 1800's. Her great great * grandmother, also named Isabelle, expels the Jews from Spain in about 1500.

I had to wonder if Spielberg is taking a cheap shot at the Queen Isabelle that expelled the Jews, by showing a Queen Isabelle acting like a spoiled brat 300 years later.

"Amistad is the name of a slave ship traveling from Cuba to the U.S. in 1839. It is carrying a cargo of Africans who have been sold into slavery in Cuba, taken on board, and chained in the cargo hold of the ship. As the ship is crossing from Cuba to the U.S., Cinque, who was a tribal leader in Africa, leads a mutiny and takes over the ship. They continue to sail, hoping to find help when they land. Instead, when they reach the United States, they are imprisoned as runaway slaves. They don't speak a word of English, and it seems like they are doomed to die for killing their captors when an abolitionist lawyer decides to take their case, arguing that they were free citizens of another country and not slaves at all. The case finally gets to the Supreme Court, where John Quincy Adams makes an impassioned and eloquent plea for their release."

Anthony Hopkins plays retired President John Quincy Adams, who represented the slaves when the case came before the Supreme Court.

The movie does a good job of showing the cruelty of the slave traders. When they don't have enough food, they have an efficient technique for throwing 50 slaves overboard. Of course, they also make it clear to the imprisoned Africans that it is appropriate to fight for their lives, which they end up getting a chance to do. They kick their captors' ass, but aren't able to sale back to Africa, and end up in American jails, where they become a political football.

A very emotionless, clear and decisive portrayal of the facts regarding the Jewish role in the African slave trade. I've always believed that it was the arabs and muslims who were largely responsible for the slave trade but this book shows in astonishing and meticulous DETAIL FROM JEWISH SOURCES that the jews had a severely disproportionate role in the African Slave Trade. It certainly makes you wonder about the origin of the NAACP and the jewish role in the civil rights movement. This book is a riveting expose of the mythical and misconceived "familial" relationship between blacks and Jews. The Historical Research Department of the Nation of Islam formulates a solid thesis based on authoritative Jewish sources to document the disproportionate involvement of Jews in the African slave trade.

The editors communicate their precise report in an emotionless and unbiased manner. There is not a hint of anger or so-called "rhetoric" in this work. Every claim is supported by citations "from the most respected of the Jewish authorities and whose works appear in established historical journals or are published by authoritative Jewish publishing houses."

This book redefines how students of history and political science should view slavery. Having read this book, the reviewer sees further the pointlessness of feeding into the useful idiocy machine.

It is unfortunate that the contents this book cannot be discussed, at least on the university level, with which the reviewer is well-acquainted, to help re-shape how slavery is interepreted in the United States. We remain in ignorance to what the eminent Jewish scholars already know.

I commend the courage and the bravery of the editors of this work. Though, I do not support the theological-political ideology of the Nation of Islam, I deem the work and research of this report to be accurate and true.

No other group, to my knowledge, with the exception of an article "Who Brought the Slaves to America?" written by a Walter White, Jr. published in 1968, has done Americans a service in exposing the predominant Jewish role in the African slave trade. There are many books purporting to be the "History of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Writing and references are sloppy, claims are far fetched and even invented. Not this book. I first read this book after loaning it from my public library. I antiscipated yet another hysterical diatribe against whites or polemic against African chieftans. Anyone seeking racists stereotypes should look elsewhere. This book is remarkably well researched. The quotes are all from Jewish sources and no others are included because of the risk of anti-semitic bias.

The book basically consists of archival records of business transactions, personal correspondance and public records of the Shephadic ( North African, Southern European and Dutch Jews) kidnapping, selling and loaning of African slaves. Its descibes the Jews creation of the trans-Atlantic slave trade which began with Christopher Colombus's arrival in the "New World" and his sending Native American Indians back to Spain. Its describes how Jewish wealth already acquired from their slave trading during the Middle Ages and Ottoman Empire period in Europe and the Middle East enabled the Jews to have the financial resources and seafaring merchantile experiences to successfully sell slaves and then sell the produce of slave labor consisting of sugar , tobacco and rum back to the Europeans. The book describes the struggles by various European monarchs to ban the consumption of excessive amounts for sugar, tobacco and rum which was leading to social decline in people that had become addicted to sugar and tobacco. A problem that is still the scourge of western society.

It also describes the tremendous indifference to the pain and suffering caused to African families and the obvious loss of life resulting from Jewish policey which claimed that it was more profitable to kill a slave after seven years then feed him or her nutrional food and keep them alive longer. Many contemporary health problems within the African-American population can be traced back to the slavery era in which their ancestors were fed only on molasses (residue of fermented surgar)

Its records the cultural backlash against the Jews profiteering and pirateering from African and European monarchs and even early American settlers like Peter Styvestant in New York City. There was also numerous slave uprisings resulting in pitched and bloody battles fought between Jewish slave traders and their African captives in South America. Who would disappear into the rain forests to live alongside Native Americans. One siege lasted for nine years with the Jews eventually giving up.

I am a cultural anthropologist so I checked out as many references as I could and they were all authentic. Particularly chilling are the personal correspondance between Jewish slave owners about their private lives and slavery. Incest and venereal disease was common place amongst them but this did not act as any kind of obstacle since the lure of huge profits clashed with personal scruples

There are some fresh insights into the role that the Jewish merchants played in the genocide against Native American Indians. It was a Jewish merchant that supplied the infected blankets and handkerchiefs to the English. So that they could reduce their numbers on the East coast of America with small pox. It describes how the Native Americans were encouraged to participate in slave trading to prevent slaves from escaping to their encampments but the outcome was unsuccessful because the Native tribes would not treat their African captives any different from their own people. This is still a considerable amount of the African-American popluace of both Americas which has Native American Indian ancestry due to intermixing.

All though the book is brief and riveting. Its is not easy reading at all. You really require a cast iron stomach to get through it because of the somewhat gory nature of its contents. However the archival material is so relentless and succint that although you may feel revolted by the mercenary accounts of what must be one of the worst records of mans'inhumanity to man. You still want to read it none the less.

it's sort of odd. the movie is educational, except for the GAPING MEMORY HOLE it serves to protect.

one of the things that's interesting - when slavery was made illegal by some countries, the supply became limited. normally this would vastly increase the value of the 'existing' slaves.

also, because the laws stated that someone born into slavery was a slave, i imagine it increased the pressure to increase "domestic production" - literally, a financial incentive for slave-owners to mate with their slaves or to arrange matings, as if they were horses at stud or something.


what's also interesting is what had gone on in the background - the Rottenchild's had recently pulled their GINORMOUS coup in conjunction with the English victory at Waterloo. they used false news reports of an English loss to panic the market, and sold into the panic, creating a BIGGER panic. then they bought back in at the low.

His voyage to America was not financed by Queen Isabella, but by Luis de Santangelo, who advanced the sum of 17,000 ducats (about 5,000 pounds-today equal to 50,000 pounds) to finance the voyage, which began on August 3, 1492.

Gabriel Sanchez, abetted by the other four Jews, sold Columbus on the idea of capturing 500 Indians and selling them as slaves in Seville, Spain, which was done. Columbus did not receive any of the money from the sale of the slaves, but he became the victim of a conspiracy fostered by Bemal, the ship's doctor. The Jews were expelled from Spain on August 2, 1492, and from Portugal in 1497. Many of these Jews emigrated to Holland, where they set up the Dutch West Indies Company to exploit the new world.

In 1654, the first Jew, Jacob Barsimson, emigrated from Holland to New Amsterdam (New York) and in the next decade many more followed him, settling along the East Coast, principally in New Amsterdam and Newport, Rhode Island. They were prevented by ordinances issued by Governor Peter Stuyvesant from engaging in the domestic economy, so they quickly discovered that the territory inhabited by the Indians would be a fertile field. There were no laws preventing the Jews from trading with the Indians.

The first Jew to begin trading with the Indians was Hayman Levy, who imported cheap glass beads, textiles, earrings, armbands and other cheap adornments from Holland which were traded for valuable fur pelts. Hayman Levy was soon joined by Jews Nicholas Lowe and Joseph Simon. Lowe conceived the idea of trading rum and whiskey to the Indians and set up a distillery in Newport, where these two liquors were produced. Within a short time there were 22 distilleries in Newport, all of them owned by Jews, manufacturing and distributing 'firewater.' The story of the debauching of the Indians with its resultant massacres of the early settlers, is a dramatic story in itself.

It is essential to comprehend the seaport of Newport. It is important in order to recognize the Jewish share in the Slave commerce. There was a period when it was commonly referred to as 'The Jewish Newport-World center of Slave Commerce.' All together, at this time, there were in North America six Jewish communities: Newport, Charleston, New York, Philadelphia, Richmond, and Savanuah. There were also many other Jews, scattered over the entire East Coast. Although New York held first place in the settlers of Jews in North America, Newport held second place.

New York was also the main source of Kosher meat, supplying the North American settlements, then the West Indies and also South America. Now Newport took over! Newport also became the great trade harbour of the East Coast of North America. There, vessels from other ports met, to exchange commodities. Newport, as previously mentioned, represented the foremost place in the commerce of rum, whiskey, and liquor dealings. And to conclude, it finally became the Main Center of Slave dealings. It was from this port that the ships left on their way across the ocean, to gather their black human cargo and then derive great sums of money in exchange for them.

An authentic, contemporary report, based on authority, indicates that of 128 Slave ships, for instance, unloaded in Charleston, within one year, their "Cargo," 120 of these were undersigned by Jews from Newport and Charleston by their own name. About the rest of them, one can surmise, although they were entered as Boston (1), Norfolk (2), and Baltimore (4), their real owners were similarly the Jewish slave dealers from Newport and Charleston.

One is able to assess the Jewish share in the entire dealings of the Newport, if one considers the undertaking of a lone Jew, the Portuguese, Aaron Lopez, who plays an important part in the over-all story of the Jews and Slavery.

Concerning the entire commerce of the Colonies, and the later State of Rhode Island, (which included Newport) bills of lading, concessions, receipts, and port clearances carried the signature name of the Jew Aaron Lopez (3) (http://www.iamthewitness.com/books/Walter.White/Who.Brought.the.Slaves.to.America.htm#3). This all took place during the years 1726 to 1774. He had therefore more than 50% of all dealings under his personal control for almost fifty years. Aside from that there were other ships which he owned, but sailed under other names. In the year 1749, the first Masonic Lodge was established. Ninety percent of the members of this first lodge, fourteen all told, were Jews. And one knows that only so-called "prominent" individuals were accepted. Twenty years later, the second Masonic Lodge, "King David," was established. It is a fact that all of these members were Jews.

In the meantime, the Jewish influence in Newport had reached such proportions that President George Washington decided to pay them a visit. Upon his appearance, both of the Masonic Lodges sent an emissary—a Jew named Moses Seixas (4) (http://www.iamthewitness.com/books/Walter.White/Who.Brought.the.Slaves.to.America.htm#4) —to approach the President with a petition, in which the Jews of Newport stated: "If you will permit the children of Abraham to approach you with a request, to tell you that we honor you, and feel an alliance...... and then: "Until the present time the valuable rights of a free citizen have been withheld.

However, now we see a new government coming into being based on the Majesty of the people, a government, not sanctioning any bigotry nor persecution of the Jew, rather, to concede the freedom of thought, which each shares, whatever Nation or Language, as a part of the great Government machine."

It is necessary at this point to consider the disclosures as to who in reality obtained this legendary freedom in America at the founding of the Union. To be sure, the province became independent and severed from the English Jurisdiction.

However, we can see from the petition (5) (http://www.iamthewitness.com/books/Walter.White/Who.Brought.the.Slaves.to.America.htm#5) which Moses Seixas offered President Washington in the name of the Jews of Newport, that it was not in reality this type of freedom which they had in mind. They were merely concerned about themselves, and their "own civil rights," which had been withheld. Therefore, following the Revolutionary War, the Jews were accorded equal rights, and freed of all restrictions! And the Negroes? The Revolutionary War not withstanding, they remained Slaves! In the year 1750, one sixth of the population in New York was Negroid, and proportionately in the Southern parts of the Country, they outnumbered the others, but the proclamation of Freedom did not touch them. More of this later.

Let us scrutinize at close range this dismal handwork of the Jews which gave them influence and power, so we may comprehend the Slave Trade; for there has been so much written since that time by the zealous Jewish writers, that at the present, long since removed, it might appear natural, for the time element has a tendency to make things nebulous.

Let us follow the journey of one ship, owned by a slave dealer, Aaron Lopez, which had made many trips to the African coast.

For instance, in the month of May, 1752, the ship "Abigail" was equipped with about 9,000 gallons of rum, a great supply of iron foot and hand restraints, pistols, powder, sabres, and a lot of worthless tin ornaments, and under the command of the Jewish Captain Freedman, sailed off for Africa. There were but two Mates and six sailors comprising the crew. Three and one half months later they landed on the African Coast. Meantime, there had been constructed an African Agency, by the Jewish slave dealers, who had corralled them, and prepared them for sale. This organization reaching deep into Africa, had many ramifications, including the heads of groups, villages, etc. This method to win over these leaders for the Jewish slave trade, was similar to' that which the Jews had employed with the Indians.

At first, they presented them with rum, and soon found themselves in an alcoholic delirium. When the gold dust, and ivory supply was exhausted, they were induced to sell their descendants. At first their wives, and then their youths. Then they began warfare among each other, plotted and developed mostly by the Jews, and if they captured prisoners, these, too, were exchanged for rum, ammunitions and weapons to the Jews', using them for further campaigns to capture more Negroes. The captured Blacks were linked two by two and driven through the medieval forests to the coast. These painful treks required weeks, and some of them frequently became ill, and felled by exhaustion, and many unable to rise even though the bull whip was applied as an encourager. They were left to die and were devoured by wild beasts. It was not unusual to see the bones of the dead laying in the tropical sun, a sad and gruesome reminder to those who would later on tread this path.

It has been calculated that for each Negro who withstood the rigors of this wandering, there still had to be the long voyage across the ocean, before they reached American soil, nine out of ten died! And when one considers that there was a yearly exodus of ONE MILLION black slaves, then, and only then, can one assess the tremendous and extensive exodus of the African people. At present Africa is thinly populated, not alone due to the 1,000,000 literally dragged out of huts, but due to the five to nine million who never reached their destination.

Once they reached the coast, the black slaves were driven together, and restraints were applied to hold them until the next transport ship docked. The agents—many of them Jews—who represented the Chief, then began the deal with the Captain. Each Negro was personally presented to him. But the captains had learned to become suspicious. The Black one must move his fingers, arms, legs, and the entire body to insure that there were not any fractures. Even the teeth were examined. If a tooth was lacking, it lowered the price. Most of the Jew agents knew how to treat sick Negroes with chemicals in order to sell them as sound. Each Negro was valued at about 100 gallons of rum, 100 pounds of gun powder, or in cash between 18 to 20 dollars. The notations of a captain inform us that on September 5, 1763, one Negro brought as much as 200 gallons of rum, due to the bidding among the agents, raising the price.

Women under 25 years, pregnant or not, resulted in the same measure, if they were well and comely. Any over 25 years lost 25%.

And here it should be stated that those Negroes, purchased free at the African Coast for 20 to 40 dollars, were then resold by the same slave dealers in America for two thousand dollars.

This gives one an idea how the Jews managed to acquire tremendous fortunes. Following the bargaining, Captain Freedman paid the bill, either in merchandise or cash. He also recalled some advice which his Jewish employers gave him as he left Newport for Africa: "Pour as much water into the rum as you possibly can." In this manner the Negro chiefs were cheated two times by the Newport Jews!
The next step was to shave the hair from the head of the acquired slaves. Then they were bound and branded with a hot iron, either on the back, or the hip, identifying them with their owners. Now the Negro slave was indeed the property of the Jewish purchaser. If he fled he could be identified. Following this procedure, there was a farewell celebration. There were instances when entire families were brought out of the interior, to the coast, and then separated through the buyer—the father going with one ship, the sons and daughters into another. These "farewell" celebrations were usually packed with emotion, tears, drama and sadness. There was little joy, if ever.

The following day the transport began from land to ship. It was managed by taking four to six Negroes at one time in rowboats to the ship. Of course the slave dealers were aware of how the Negro loved his homeland above all else, and could only be induced by great force to leave it. So, some of the Negroes would leap into the water. But here the overseers were prepared with sharp dogs and retrieved the fleeing men. Other Negroes preferred drowning. What came aboard alive was immediately undressed. Here was another opportunity to jump overboard and reach land and freedom. But the slave dealers were pitiless and ruthless; they were merely concerned to get their Black cargo to America with the least loss. Therefore, an escapee, recaptured, had both of his legs cut off before the eyes of the remaining Negroes in order to restore "Order."

On board the ship the Negroes were separated into three groups. The men were placed in one part of the ship. The women into another, whereby the lusty Captain arranged it so that the youngest, mostly comely Negro women were accessible to him.

The children remained on deck, covered with a cloth in bad weather. In this fashion the slave ship proceeded on its journey to America. In the main, the ships were too small, and not at all suitable to transport people. They were barely equipped to transport animals, which the Negroes were likened to. In one space, one meter high (39 inches) these unfortunate creatures were placed into a horizontal position, pressed close together. Mostly they were chained together. In this position they had to remain for three months, until the end of the voyage. Rarely was there a captain who sympathized with them or evidenced any feelings whatever for these pitiable creatures. Occasionally they would be taken in groups to the deck for fresh air, shackled in irons.

Somehow, these Negroes were expendable and endured much. On occasion, one of them became insane, killing the other one pressed closely to him. They also had their fingernails closely cut so they could not tear at each other's flesh. The most horrible battles came about among the men, to acquire a centimeter or two for a comfortable position. It was then that the slave overseer stepped in with his bullwhip. The unimaginable, horrible, human excrement in which these slaves had to endure these trips is impossible to describe.

In the women's quarters the same conditions prevailed. Women gave birth to children lying pressed closely together. The younger Negro women were constantly raped by the captain and the crew resulting, thereby, a new type of Mulatto as they came to America.

In Virginia, or in any of the other Southern port cities, the slaves were transferred to the land and immediately sold. A regular auction would take place, following the method of purchase in Africa. The highest bidder obtained the "Ware." In many cases—due to the indescribable filth—some of the Blacks became ill during the sea voyage from Africa to America. They became unemployable. In such cases the captain accepted any price. It was rare to dispose of them for no one wanted to purchase a sick Negro. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Jewish, unethical doctor senses a new form of revenue. They purchased the sick Negro for a small sum, then treated him, and sold him for a large sum. On occasion, the captain would be left with a few Negroes for whom he did not find a buyer. In that case he returned to Newport and sold them to the Jews for cheap domestic help. In other cases, the Jew owner of the ships took them over. This is why the city of Newport and its surroundings had 4,697 black slaves in the year 1756.

Slavery did not extend to the North. Moreover, in many of the North American Colonies, slavery was strictly forbidden. Georgia came under discussion; likewise also Philadelphia. And again it was the Jews who managed a loophole, which had given them freedom following the Revolutionary War, so, they schemed to make slave trading legal.

One had but to read the names of those persons living in Philadelphia who were requesting the elimination of existing laws regarding the slavery dealing. They were: the Jews Sandiford, Lay, Woolman, Solomon, and Benezet. That explained it all! But let us turn back to the slave ship "Abigail." Its captain—and we are reading from his ship's books—did a profitable business. He sold all of his Negroes in Virginia, invested some of the money in tobacco, rice, sugar, and cotton, and went on to Newport where he deposited his wares.

We learn from Captain Freedman's books that the "Abigail" was a small ship and could only accommodate 56 people. He managed, however, to clear from one trip 6,621 dollars, which he in turn delievered to the owner of the ship: one Aaron Lopez.

The staggering amounts of money acquired by the Jew ship owners and slavery dealers is better illustrated when we emphasize the many years in which this sale and purchase of human flesh was practiced. Prior to 1661, all of the Colonies had laws prohibiting slavery. It was in that year that the Jews had become powerful enough to bring about the repeal of these laws, and slavery began in earnest.

The Jews had discovered that the Colonists needed additional manpower to help them clear their fields for planting, helping in the construction of dwellings, and in general to help with harvesting their crops. This was particularly true of the Southern states which we have referred to earlier. The Southerners had vast tracts of rich soil suitable for rice, cotton, tobacco and cane sugar. At first, impoverished Europeans were recruited. English prison doors were opened and finally prisoners ot war from England and Holland were brought to the Colonies, made to work until they had paid the cost of transporting them by ship and then set free.

It doesn't take a Jew long to discover what his brothers are doing, so a group of Jews settled in Charleston, South Carolina, where they set up distilleries for making rum and whiskey. They, too, learned that they could trade with the natives on the West Coast of Africa for ivory, and several ships were purchased and sent to Africa, trading the usual glass beads and other cheap ornaments for ivory, which, however, took up but little space on board ship. It occurred to these Jew traders that they could supply the plantations in the South with 'Black ivory', needed under swampy and malarial conditions which European labor could not tolerate without sickness, and which would not only fill the holds of their ships, but bring enormous profits. (This same group had earlier tried selling Indians as slaves but they found them completely unsatisfactory, as the Indians would not tolerate this type of work.) Thus, another segment of the slave trading had become active and profitable out of Charleston, South Carolina. Several shiploads of Black slaves were sent by the Dutch West Indies Company to Manhattan.

During this time there were a number of plantation owners established in the West Indies and two Jews, Eyrger and SayUer, with strong Rothschild connections in Spain, formed an agency called ASIENTO, which later operated in Holland and England. It was through these connections that Jews in Holland and England exerted influence and both of these connections cooperated in helping the Jews provide Black Slaves for the Colonists.

With the yearly capture and transport of one million Black slaves it is not difficult to figure that from 1661 to 1774 (one hundred thirteen years) approximately one hundred ten million slaves had been removed from their native land. About ten percent, or ELEVEN MILLION, Black slaves reached the Colonies alive.

We have talked about the small ship "Abigail" which could accommodate only 56 people and yet the profits per trip were enormous, with little or no investment. There were many other ships but we will concentrate here on only a few, such as the "La Fortuna," "Hannah," "Sally" or the "Venue" which made very great profits. The "La Fortuna," by the way, transported approximately 217 slaves on each trip. The owner cleared not less than $41,438.00 from such a trip. These were dollars which the slave dealers 'could keep'. And these were dollars of value which would buy a great deal in return.

When one considers that the Jews of Newport owned about 300 slave-transporting ships, active without interruption, docking at Newport-Africa, Charleston, (or Virginia), one can approximate the tremendous earnings which made their way to Jewish ship owners. Indeed, the Jews admit, that of the 600 ships, leaving Newport harbor into all the world, "at least half of them" went their way to Africa, and we know what these ships going to Africa "were seeking."
The fact that Aaron Lopez had control of over more than half of the combined deals in the Colonies of Rhode Island, with Newport, is well-known. The well-known Rabbi Morris A. Gutstein, in his book, The Story of the Jews in Newport, attempts to remove these facts, maintaining that there is not any evidence that the Jews were connected with the Slave Trade. It is therefore imperative to prove that the Jew was indeed connected with the slave trading. Especially so since this rabbi insists they had made great contributions, and how very "blessed" their residence became for the city of Newport. Surely Morris A. Gutstein will grant us permission to present the facts which he was unable to find.

Turning to one report of the Chamber of Commerce of the "Rhode Island Colony" in the year 1764, we find, for instance, that in the year 1723 "a few merchants in Newport" devised the idea to send their Newport rum to the coast of Africa. It developed into such a great export that in the matter of a few years "several thousand (hogsheads)" of rum went that way. To which purpose did this rum serve?

The Carnegie Institute in Washington, D.C., presents and makes public authentic documents entitled "Documents Illustrative of the History of the Slave Trade in America". We wish to present a few facts from this particular collection of original documents and scrutinize them at closer range, and not at all to prove the heretofore Rabbi Morris A. Gutstein in error. In this collection of the first American institute of learning, we evaluate the capital "Rhode Island" which contributed the main share of the public documentation regarding the Slave trading. Here we find documented the recipients of the numerous shipping letters, also letters to the Slave dealers, and correspondence to the ship's captains, who were about 15% Jews, living in Newport. Among these we find, for instance, the Jew Isaac Elizar. He wrote a letter to Captain Christopher Champlin on February 6, 1763, saying he would like to be an agent for a load of slaves. Then follows the Jew Abraham Pereira Mendez, and one of the main slave dealers, Jacob Rod Rivera-the father-in-law of Aaron Lopez. And then there is Aaron Lopez, himself, and many, many more other Jews. Although we have considered Aaron Lopez several times, the size of this documented treatise limits us, and we cannot describe all of the writers concerned in the Slavery Dealing correspondence, their names and the special dates—rather, we wish to study the documentation of the 'Carnegie Institute' itself—keeping Aaron Lopez in mind. We wish to see what in the main this Jew was pursuing and what his business was. This is due to the fact that Rabbi Morris A. Gutstein presents him as a "lofty and fine civilian of Newport" who was so generous and even "made contributions to welfare."

In a great number of published original unprejudiced writings in the Carnegie Institute, we find that Aaron Lopez pursued a tremendous commerce in rum with the African coast in exchange for slaves. These irrefutable facts are as follows:


June 22, 1764, a letter by Captain William Stead to Aaron Lopez.
July 22, 1765, a letter by Aaron Lopez to Captain Nathaniel Briggs.
July 22, 1765, a letter to Captain Abraham All.
February 4, 1766, a letter to Captain William Stead by Aaron Lopez.
March 7, 1766, a letter by Captain William Stead to Aaron Lopez.
February 20, 1766, a letter by Aaron Lopez to Captain William Stead.
October 8, 1766, a letter by Captain William Stead to Aaron Lopez.
February 9, 1767, a letter by Captain William Stead to Aaron Lopez.

Aside from that, there are similar statements out of letters by Aaron Lopez in the original, which he directed to the Captains Henry Cruger, David Mill, Henry White, Thomas Dolbeare, and William Moore. Indeed, one letter by Captain William Moore to Aaron Lopez & Company, is particularly revealing, and of special mention at this point. We wish to remark on the main contents of this letter in which Captain Moore writes: "I wish to advise you that your ship 'Ann' docked here night before last with 112 slaves, consisting of 35 men, 16 large youths, 21 small boys, 29 women, 2 grown girls, 9 small girls, and I assure you this is such a one rumcargo (rum in exchange for slaves) which I have not yet encountered, among the entire group there may be five to which one could take exception."

The date of the above letter was November 27, 1773. We have not yet concluded, because of lack of space, the excerpts and grateful compilations made available by the "Carnegie Institute."

On November 29, 1767, the Jew Abraham Pereira Mendez—who had been cheated by one of his kind—from Charleston, where he had journeyed to better control his Black cargo, wrote Aaron Lopez at Newport:
"These Negroes, which Captain Abraham All delivered to me, were in such poor condition due to the poor transportation, that I was forced to sell 8 boys and girls for a mere 27 (pounds), 2 other for 45 (pounds) and two women each for 35 (pounds)." (No doubt, English money)
Abraham Pereia Mendez was very angry and accused Aaron Lopez of "cheating" him. This letter delineates to us that this generous and fine citizen of Newport was insatiable in his greed for money. This is what caused the Rabbi Morris A. Gutstein to present this nobleman, Aaron Lopez, to pursue his objectionable methods. Negroes presented to him but a commodity.

In all of the letters which the "Carnegie Institute" published, it stresses the lack of human sympathy for the poor Negro slaves. This lack of feeling and compassion for the abused and pitiful Blacks at the hands of their Jewish dealers, can be read out of the diary of a captain who manned a ship owned by Aaron Lopez. The entrees concern a trip from the African Coast to Charleston.

Moreover, they are authentic documents, published by the "Camegie Institute" in Washington, D.C., calling attention to an organization which had heretofore known little or nothing about; neither had they encountered further publicity in books or newspapers. Therefore, it is not to be wondered at that the facts of the leading share of American Jews in the slave trade could be pointed out as a monopoly, and unknown to the non-Jewish Americans, including the great masses of people all over the world. Others, however, acquainted with the facts, had good reason to remain painfully quiet.

The captain of another ship, the "Othello" among other things, makes the following entries in his diary:


February 6th: One man drowned in the process of loading.
March 18th: Two women went overboard because they had not been locked up.
April 6th: One man dead with Flux. (No doubt an illness.)
April 13th: One woman dead with Flux.
May 7th: One man dead with Flux.
June 16th: One man dead by Kap Henry.
June 21st: One man dead by James Fluss.
July 5th: One woman dead with fever.
July 6th: One girl, sick for two months, died.

This vessel was on its way for five months. What terrible and unspeakable suffering was the lot of these millions of Blacks, who were torn with brutal force from their friendly African huts, jammed together, like animals below deck, and then sold with less concern than selling a head of cattle. Small wonder that ten of them died, being purchased for just a few dollars, and then sold for the sum of $2,000.00.

Some Negroes managed, through insurrection, to gain control of one or another ship and turned it around, with full sails, toward their African home. The crew of one slave ship, "Three Friends" for instance, tortured their Black cargo in such a manner that the Negroes reciprocated in a bloody rebellion. They killed the captain and the entire crew and threw the dead overboard. They then sailed back to Africa where they had barely escaped their hard-won freedom.
A similar fate struck the slave ship "Amistad". Among the slaves was the son of an enemy tribal chief. Once the ship was under way, he schemed with his compatriots to attack the ship's crew. Following a bloody battle, they managed to capture the captain. The Negro prince forced him to turn back to Africa, then in the evening, under cover of darkness, he changed his course, zigzagged for months untfl he came close to the American coast, and encountered a government ship. This took place in the year 1839 when slave trading was already forbidden and illegal.

The Negro slaves were freed and the captain punished. These sea voyages were not without danger when they had Black cargo, which accounts for the fact that the Jews most always engaged non-Jewish captains.

The slave dealers preferred to remain in their offices and counted the fat winnings following each journey, such as Aaron Lopez, who left his heirs one of the largest fortunes in the New England era.

When reviewing the documented facts contained herein, it is important that one always remembers that it was a lucky captain who did not lose more than 9 out of 19 slaves on the return trip.

It is equally important to remember that these poor Black creatures had to lie in human excrement for the entire trip. Think of it! No wonder sickness and disease took such a high toll. Remember the figures: approximately one hundred ten million Black people were captured and removed from their homeland in Africa. Only ELEVEN MILLION of these Black slaves reached the Colonies alive.

And the Jews still talk about the Germans and Hitler and how six million Jews were exterminated during World War II. This is the greatest LIE ever perpetrated upon the people of the world-whereas the story of the poor Black slaves is documented. Documented with TRUTH. The evidence is still available for the people of the world to see.

The "Carnegie Institute of Technology" is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
As this document is distributed, eventually reaching the hands of the Jew, the evidence will probably be removed and destroyed until finally all documentation is removed which is damaging to the Jew. Of some 600 ships leaving the port of Newport, more than 300 were engaged in the slave trade. A typical cargo of one ship, 'La Fortuna', was 217 slaves which cost about $4,300 and sold for $41,438.00.

Only about 10% of the slave ship captains were Jews, not wanting to subject themselves to the rigors of the 6-month journey. They preferred to stay at home and continue their distillery operations which continued to supply rum and whiskey to the Indians for many years at a very great profit.

It is a fact that the Jewish people have suffered numerous hardships in the course of their history, but this is true of other peoples too. The chief difference is that the Jews have kept score. We Must repeat—they have kept score—they have made a tradition of persecution.

A casual slaughter of thousands of Chriestians is remembered by no one in 50 years, but a disability visited upon a few Jews is preserved forever in Jewish histories. And they tell their woes not only to themselves, but to a sympathetic world as well.

Aaron Lopez and his family arrived in Newport around 1750 from New York via Lisbon, Portugal. Lopez arrived in the new world as a member of a "Marrano" family with the Christian name of "Don Duarte Lopez." Lopez immediately dropped his Christian name and took the Hebrew name of Aaron and submitted to ritual circumcision. Within twenty years, Lopez owned or had interests in over 80 sailing vessels. Lopez was also one of the original founders and contributors of Touro Synagogue and by the end of his life was recognized as one of the "Merchant Princes" of early America. His merchant trading interests included rum, molasses, dry goods and African slaves.
Moses Levy and the Moses Seixas families both lived in one of Newport's large colonial mansions at 29 Touro Street. Seixas was a founding member of the nation's oldest Jewish Masonic Lodge (King David in Newport) and Grand Master of the Masonic Order of Rhode Island. Seixas was well known as the Cashier of the Bank of Rhode Island. President (Parnas) of Touro Synagogue at the time of the George Washington visit and letter to the congregation, Seixas also performed the Covenant of Circumcision (B’rith Milah). Prominent merchant and trader Moses Levy of New York and Newport was one of several Ashkenazi Jewish families in Newport at that time. Levy owned the Touro Street Mansion and willed the property to Moses Seixas in 1792.

The story noted "Human rights advocates say the rebels’ scapegoating of blacks here follows a similar campaign that ultimately included lynchings after rebels took control of the eastern city of Benghazi."

The imprisonments, of Black Libyans and Africans, expose "a deep-seated racism and anti-African sentiment in Libyan society," said Peter Bouckaert a Human Rights researcher who visited Libyan jails where these Africans are held. "It is very clear to us that most of those detained were not soldiers and have never held a gun in their life," he said.

Still not a single statement from the U.S. government.

Unfortunately, most of the establishment press has ignored the crimes that have been perpetrated against these Black Libyans and Africans by the Benghazi brutes. However, The Wall Street Journal, on June 11, 2011, highlighted some of the racist crimes by these "rebels."

That story told the tale of the southern city of Tawergha which was inhabited predominantly by Black Libyans, who were targeted for attacks by "rebel" forces loyal to the rich merchant class of Misrata. To justify their attacks on Tawerghans, charges were made that Tawerghans were pro-Quathafi loyalists who committed mass murder and raped Libyan women.

In fact, there are reports of Black Libyans who’re being branded as mercenaries and will face death, or, expulsion from the country of their birth—because of their skin color. It should be noted the "rebels" used these very lies against the scores of African migrant workers that came to Libya to work, under the Quathafi government.

The Journal story pointed out "rebel leaders are also calling for drastic measures like banning Tawergha natives from ever working, living or sending their children to schools in Misrata." Moreover, these supposed liberators of Libya have a brigade whose slogan reads "the Brigade for Purging Slaves, Black Skins."

Besides being linked to Al-Qaeda—read the Sinjar Records Report--and killing god knows how many American soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, we now have proof these "rebels" are also racists.

Could it be these NATO-backed "rebels" are now in the process of turning Libya into an apartheid-like state? But then, why should we be surprised Western leaders are helping these racists from Benghazi gain control of Libya?

No doubt, one of the reasons the West, like these Benghazi bigots, wanted Col. Quathafi gone was his commitment to forging positive, prosperous relations with African people. These prejudiced "protesters" no doubt have no such inclination given their slogan about "purging slaves, black skins." And that, probably, suits European leaders just fine.

The truth is: anybody committed to securing the future stability of Africa, for Black Africans, represents a dangerous paradigm shift for the white, Western status quo. Such a scenario would mean Africa would once again become a first world nation. And, Europeans would no longer be able to enrich themselves by perpetually raping the natural resources of the richest continent on the face of the earth—while impoverishing Africans in the process.

Is it conceivable Europeans leaders don’t know these "rebels" are lying lynchers of Black Libyans and African migrant workers? Why is the compromised, establishment media so silent about these assaults against Africans?

Where are all these exemplars of journalism, like CNN, CBS and the rest? Do they think the truth about these murderers can be hidden forever? not just everybody had slaves. They were expensive. If you sustained an injury and the one who injured you had no money society had what was termed "bond servitude". To the extent you were monetarily damaged you now had a servant for a period of time. For example, if $100,000 damage occurred and customary wage was $5 an hour the debt would take 10 years to be discharged. Evidently this concept is now lumped with involuntary servitude and abolished. Damage someone to the tune of $100,000 now and they can just eat it.

I saw Amistad when it first came out. There is one scene in it that is the essence of the slave trade. It is when on the voyage to America in the middle of the Atlantic, someone discovers that there is not enough food on board to last the entire voyage. So they make some calculations, and decide that the only way to go is to throw a few slaves overboard. You then see a number of black slaves, chained together underwater while the ship sails on.

That disturbed me, and still does when I think about it. It is the finest example of the struggle between greed and morality I have ever seen in a film.

Of course, the movie ends by showing the destruction of a slave fortress in Africa, and the highlighting of the fact that the British outlawed slavery in 1828--many years before America did. But the truth is that the same calculation that threw the slaves overboard is what 'ended' slavery. The British saw that 'slavery' was too expensive. The masters had to take care of the slaves while they were productive. It was much cheaper to 'free' them, and thereby free themselves from the obligations of caring for captives, and to underpay them for their work, which these people would perform 'voluntarily'.

There were two models for 'labor' in the American colonies. One was indentured servitude--or debt slavery. That was for clearing out the debtors prisons in England, or for removing people from the country who had committed petty crimes and had been given cruel and unusual punishment by corrupt British 'judges'. The other was outright slavery--totally forced on black people who were enslaved in Africa. The latter was what was abolished because it is too expensive--not because it was immoral. Today everyone who is not a master is some kind of slave--a debt slave, or a corporate underpaid slave. Whatever the masters can get away with in the current paradigm.

On Dec. 19 the U.S. Senate will watch Stephen Spielberg’s dramatic feature film Lincoln about the President’s fight for an anti-slavery amendment to the Constitution. Controversy about this movie has arisen between the Anti-Defamation League and Louis Farrakhan. Farrakhan, leader of the mainly black religious movement the Nation of Islam, criticized Spielberg for omitting the role of Jewish merchants as slave traders. Farrakhan alleges that the vast majority of black slaves purchased in America came from Jewish brokers and slave traders and that Jewish supremacists continue to exploit black people today. The internet is replete with documentation confirming Jewish participation in the slave trade. Here is only one quote by prominent Jewish historian Rabbi Marc Lee Raphael. In his work Jews and Judaism in the United States: a Documentary Work Raphael writes:


Slave auctions were postponed if they fell on a Jewish holiday. In Curacao in the seventeenth century, as well as in the British colonies of Barbados and Jamaica in the eighteenth century, Jewish merchants played a major role in the slave trade. In fact, in all the American colonies, whether French (Martinique), British, or Dutch, Jewish merchants frequently dominated.


In this article, however, I will focus on the second half of my title: Have Jewish liberalism and its media exploited American blacks for evil political purposes in modern times?


While the role of Jews in the slave trade is denied by most Jews and unknown by most Americans, that of Jewish “freedom riders” and activists in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s is well chronicled and celebrated. But Jewish big media has been much more influential. From about 1963 well into the 1970s, American popular culture was saturated with sympathetic images and arguments for civil rights and even privileging of racial minorities. This helped establish one of Jewish liberalism’s greatest triumphs, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and years of supplemental legislation.

The Jewish supremacist media and liberal establishment (see Jews Confirm Big Media Is Jewish (http://truthtellers.org/alerts/jewsconfirmbigmedia.html)), more than any other factor, whipped heartland America to a firestorm of indignation against the South in support of the Civil Rights Act. (The same media-driven revolution in popular opinion can be seen today in the gay rights movement, transforming public opinion in a matter of years.) Tens of millions of usually apolitical Americans became passionate partisans of the Civil Rights cause. As early as 1964 America was willing to atone for the sins of slavery by changing our legal system to make racial minorities more than equal. In the tidal wave of sympathy and remorse for genuine grievances, almost no one worried that we were creating a U.S. legal system preferring racial minorities over the majority in college admissions, monetary assistance, quotas in hiring and firing, anti-discrimination laws in housing as well as forced busing. Americans eagerly gave their blessing to the first great system of federal and state inequality of protection of its citizens. Such a bureaucracy was a new phenomenon in the history of English law. State and federal laws now unabashedly protect and even privilege the rights of minorities, while depriving the majority of the same rights and protections.


This is always dangerous. It is true that majorities often oppress minorities. Yet the solution is to enforce equal rights for all, not to reverse the roles of oppression. Government must exist only to protect the absolutely equal rights of everyone. Otherwise, it is given power to selectively privilege, a power that history has never shown to be benign.



Self-Esteem Evades Blacks under Civil Rights Act



When I was finishing college in 1971, I was acquainted with an intelligent, athletic black student who was an accomplished musician, playing cello in Portland’s Junior Symphony. He said to me, “Because I’m black, I’m still a slave!”


“What do you mean?” I replied. “Nobody’s keeping you from graduating from college and playing in the Junior Symphony. The problem is self-pity. You’re as free as I am!” He turned away and never spoke to me again.


Had the Jewish media and liberal establishment really given him dignity, self-confidence, independence, and a personal sense of equality? Its efforts elevated him and other blacks above whites in the eyes of the law. Colleges during the 60s and 70s practically thrust scholarships, free college housing and other advantages on any black American willing to attend.


Yet he was partly right in asserting that he was a slave. The Jewish liberal establishment had imposed on him a burden almost as heavy as the bales of cotton his ancestors bore. It came in the form of an oppressive chip on his shoulder. The sins against forebears could not be forgotten; whites still opposed him and (he suspected) privately looked down on him. As a result, every indulgence he received from "them," the local white shopkeeper to Congress itself, was seen as granted only to mask and atone for the suspected racist agreement that blacks are inferior, that he should be a slave!


Preferential quotas, lower entrance and hiring requirements, and subsidies deprived blacks of the chance to prove their competence on an equal playing field. Even as doctors and lawyers, they could never convince many of their professional "equals" of their equality. Paternalistic gratuities and legal privileging from the government by their very existence assert that blacks can’t succeed on their own merit. For this reason, some independent black thinkers such as economist Dr. Thomas Sowell have criticized affirmative action.


Depriving a man or woman of the privilege of succeeding or failing on the same terms as every other is indeed crippling. Children of the wealthy and royal often lack confidence. Shelter from the “cruel and unnecessary” hardships of finding a job and making a living has fundamentally damaged them. The new slavery is also, for millions of blacks, an addiction to “the welfare mentality.” It says, “Even though welfare deprives me and my children of self-worth and initiative, it is so much easier and safer to stay on welfare than attempt to succeed by myself. I can’t compete with those who have survived because they have proven themselves the fittest.”



Superior Rights and Privileges Cripple Blacks



This is precisely the malaise of bondage into which Jewish media and liberal establishment deliver black Americans.


I once found the cocoon of a large Cecropia moth. Through its hard cellophane-like shell I could see a fully developed moth, writhing and eager to fly. I decided to help the moth escape by carefully breaking it loose. Yet this was tragically misguided. Nature intends the moth to vigorously struggle to break free from the cocoon. This effort pumps blood to every part of its wings, making them strong and completely formed. I cheated this moth of that struggle. Its muscles were weak, its wings flaccid. When it crawled forward, they dragged like rubber. The gift of hardship and opposition had been taken from it by a naive do-gooder. Because of me, it would never fly, never mate, only die.


By empowering a preferential justice system, giving blacks superior status under federal law and encouraging a victim mentality and support system, Jewish big media and education did to many black Americans and their descendants what I did to the moth.


People of all races—made in the image of God and equal under the Constitution—deserve equality not just in word, but in deed. A tremendous good was done under Lincoln’s leadership when the cancer of slavery was eradicated from America. Yet supremacist Jews created in the Civil Rights Act a momentous first step away from racial and legal equality of American citizens. They exploited the plight of blacks to create very unequal laws, the first hate crimes law in America, which lead to greater freedom, safety and justice for no one. These laws instead threaten triple penalties based on the thoughts of criminals and whether their motives are particularly hated by the reigning elite.


Title 18 Sec. 2a, added as an amendment in 1968, is the foundation for the present federal hate crimes law, the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act, passed in 2009. Title 18 Sec. 2a, the “hate crimes statute” of the Civil Rights Act, says that if someone’s speech may be proven to have influenced commission of a violent bias-motivated crime, then the speaker may be indicted and punished alongside the actual offender. The amended Civil Rights Act thus became a speech crimes law.


The present federal hate law is nothing more than extensive amendments to title 18 Sec. 2a. It gives other minorities (including Jews, homosexuals, and Muslims) similar superior rights and privileges afforded blacks 45 years earlier. Americans who supported the Civil Rights Act could have no idea this law would lay the foundation for one day giving legal privileges to almost all minorities—including sexual minorities (even deviants such as pedophiles and practitioners of bestiality) and dark religious fringes such as Satanists and occultists. Yet Jewish supremacists certainly did foresee this and saw in it ultimate power to overthrow Christian, white leadership in society, leading to their own Judaic one-world order, Babylon the Great. Yet 20th century Jewish media and legal lobbyists stood on their backs to create a legal foundation for a much more imaginative and malevolent goal: creation of a worldwide hate crimes gestapo that could ultimately destroy the power and influence of the ancient arch enemies of Talmudic Judaism, Jesus Christ, His followers, and the civilization they created.

he makes a good point. When you take up privelages you give up rights. The other aspect to this is that the intellect of some men (sic) stands above all others. Sometimes, no matter how long and hard you look from up there, you might not ever find another man with the same intellectual power. That sportsman probably looked out and saw no one else of his calibre.

My point being, if he could find 1 or 2 others he could start his own thing with them. It would be their thing but between them they could handle the obstacles more easily. I think he just came up short and that's got to hurt. I probably made no sense there but I know what I mean and I see the writers point.

In our minds our system is supposed to lift people up. Public education was supposed to lift people out of the muck of an ignorant or idle mind. It was supposed to enable us to govern ourselves as an alternative to being lorded over. It was supposed to give us the skills set to do these things, but even that purpose appears to be forgotten.

An elderly Aboriginal lady I know and respect simply says "There's good and bad in every race." We have to remember there is good and people who want to do good and be good at what they do. Evenyone's entitled to have a go.

Whenever I told someone that I was working on an exhibition called “Passages Through the Fire: Jews and the Civil War,” I typically got two responses. Both reflect the need for the exhibit (http://yumuseum.org/index.php?pg=3&enum=32#passages) (now on display at Yeshiva University Museum in New York), which presents the widely forgotten story of the full participation of Jews in the nation’s great existential crisis.


My sister’s reaction was typical: There were Jews in the Civil War? Who knew?


The second most common response was in some ways more interesting: The Jews who fought in the Civil War were against slavery, right? The discomfiting answer: not so much.


As Jewish historian Dale Rosengarten expresses it, quoting a Talmudic precept: “The law of the land is the law of the Jews.” From a modern perspective, it seems anomalous that a people whose history hinged on an epic escape from servitude would not have been deeply troubled by America’s “peculiar institution” — but few were.


Some Jews owned slaves, a few traded them, and the livelihoods of many, North and South, were inextricably bound to the slave system. Most southern Jews defended slavery, and some went further, advocating its expansion.


Notable among these was Judah P. Benjamin, labeled by the abolitionist Ben Wade, who served with Benjamin in the U.S. Senate, as “an Israelite with Egyptian principles.” Even in the North, many sympathized with the South and only a very few were abolitionists. Almost all Jews sought peace above all else. Until the war was at hand, they remained silent on the subject.


For me, that silence is problematic.


As Arnie, in Nathan Englander’s short story “Camp Sundown,” puts it: “The turning away of the head is the same as turning the knife.” Yet the majority of American Jews were mute on the subject, perhaps because they dreaded its tremendous corrosive power. Prior to 1861, there are virtually no instances of rabbinical sermons on slavery, probably due to fear that the controversy would trigger a sectional conflict in which Jewish families would be arrayed on opposite sides. And that is exactly what happened.


Ironically, the silence was breached by an attempt to forestall the conflict. With Lincoln’s election and the gathering momentum of the secession movement, the celebrated New York Rabbi Morris Raphall attempted to make a case for reconciliation by defending slavery on biblical grounds. The speech had the opposite effect, triggering furious rebuttals from Rabbi David Einhorn and biblical scholar Michael Heilprin, among others, and widening the growing divide. Jews had at last engaged in numbers with the great issue of the age.


When the war broke out, Jews did by and large attach themselves to their sections and to the causes of their sections, even at the risk of great suffering, painful separation from loved ones, grievous injury, horrific death, and as foretold, dividing families and pitting brothers against each other.


“Passages Through the Fire” is filled with such stories. What emerges from them is the heartfelt, touching, personal language in which they are told, often by people whose English is newly learned.


Their words reveal the pride, pain, and ardor of these remarkable people, who were willing to put so much on the line. Whether in combat, in other forms of service to the war effort, on the home front or in a host of other roles, their passion is unmistakable. And, of course, the war transformed them, their place in America, and, in ways we are still struggling to understand, America itself.


Although few Jews, like other Americans, opposed slavery at the war’s outset, many came to feel that the suffering of the war needed to be about something important: the end of slavery and the creation of a different America. The experience of Jews in New York City is indicative of this process in some ways. By far America’s largest Jewish community, New York’s Jews were overwhelmingly pro-southern, pro-slavery, and anti-Lincoln in the early years of the war. Increasingly, however, as both the toll of the war and the North’s military victories mounted, feelings began to shift toward “Father Abraham,” his party, the Union and eventually, emancipation. Close to 2,000 Jews from New York State joined the Union forces.


As historian Howard Rock sums up, “The war was a transformative moment for Jews’ understanding of American democracy.” The decision by Jews’ Hospital — later Mt. Sinai — to care for all sick and wounded soldiers and sailors was emblematic of the Jewish community’s expanded civic commitment. By war’s end, a number of Jews became leaders in advancing the cause of civil liberties. “Father Abraham” became a hero to most Jews. The Jewish Cult of Lincoln, which had many Old Testament overtones — Lincoln died on the first night of Passover, for instance, and the first eulogies were delivered from synagogue pulpits — would persist for decades.


The outcome of the nation’s great existential crisis made possible the open and most welcoming society Jews had ever encountered, what one of my cousins (in a not-uncommon Yiddish phrase) called “Golden America.”


The Jews caught up in that crisis were transformed by it and, in turn, helped transform the America that emerged from it. Yet relatively few Jews are aware of this, an amnesia that constitutes a deep loss. The history of the Civil War has long been bitterly contested. Perhaps as with the contest over slavery itself, it would be helpful if more Jews were engaged in it. American Jews have a stake in this history, and their experience over the last 150 years makes a lot more sense if viewed through its lens.

Michael Hoffman - The Untold History of the Enslavement of Whites in Early America (http://www.redicecreations.com/radio/2014/09/RIR-140924.php)

Michael Hoffman is a former reporter for the Associated Press and the author of six books of radical history, journalism and literature. He describes himself as a "heretical writer." Hoffman is also the managing editor of the newsletter Revisionist History. We’ll discuss his book, They Were White and They Were Slaves: The Untold History of the Enslavement of Whites in Early America.

First, Michael shares his inspiration for writing this book and why it is important to highlight this dark corner of suppressed history. He’ll tell of a hidden epoch, the slave trade of Whites, hundreds of thousands of whom were kidnapped, chained, whipped and worked to death in the American colonies and during the Industrial Revolution. We’ll learn about the artificial creation of the underclass and the emergence of the pauper class in England, which led to abduction into slavery.

Michael explains how many poor Whites were taken from the British Isles and sent to America for slave labor against their will. He also elaborates on the false narrative surrounding indentured servitude. Additionally, we talk about how the cover-up of White slavery has impacted race relations today.

Later, we talk about other historical aspects of slavery that are not discussed. In the second hour, we’ll discuss how the exclusion of politically incorrect aspects of history remains closeted and what must be done about it. Then, Michael talks about the Judas factor among White elites. Where is the yeoman resistance? We’ll also discuss the emergence of the idea of racial supremacy found in Judaic doctrine. He’ll explain the difference between self defense and racial supremacy and how it’s relevant today. Later, Michael comments on the root of White European problems.

At the end, we return to White slavery as Hoffman explains the gradual transition from slavery to contractual servitude and he reminds us of the White slaves who were forcefully send to Australia.

THE IRISH SLAVES

At the beginning of the 17th Century, in the reign of James I of England, England faced a problem: what to do with the Irish. They had been practicing genocide against the Irish since the reign of Elizabeth, but they couldn't kill them all. Some had been banished, and some had gone into voluntary exile, but there were still just too many of them.

So James I encouraged the sale of the Irish as slaves to the New World colonies, not only America but Barbados and South America. The first recorded sale of Irish slaves was to a settlement along the Amazon in South America in 1612. However, before that there were probably many unofficial arrangements, since the Irish were of no importance and details of how they were dealt with were not deemed necessary.

In 1625, the King issued a proclamation that all Irish political prisoners were to be transported to the West Indies and sold as slave labor to the planters there. In 1637, a census showed that 69% of the inhabitants of Monsarrat in the West Indies were Irish slaves. The Irish had a tendency to die in the heat, and were not as well suited to the work as African slaves, but African slaves had to be bought. Irish slaves could be kidnapped if there weren't enough prisoners, and of course, it was easy enough to make Irish prisoners by manufacturing some petty crime or other. This made the Irish the preferred "livestock" for English slave traders for 200 years.

In 1641, one of the periodic wars in which the Irish tried to overthrow the English misrule in their land took place. As always, this rebellion eventually failed. As a result, in the 12 years following the revolt, known as the Confederation War, the Irish population fell from 1,466,000 to 616,000. Over 550,000 Irishmen were killed, and 300,000 were sold as slaves. The women and children who were left homeless and destitute had to be dealt with , so they were rounded up and sold, too.

But even though it did not seem that things could get worse, with the advent of Oliver Cromwell, they did. In the 1650's, thousands more Irish were killed, and many more were sold into slavery. Over 100,000 Irish Catholic children were taken from their parents and sold as slaves, many to Virginia and New England. Unbelievably but truly, from 1651 to 1660 there were more Irish slaves in America than the entire non-slave population of the colonies!

In 1652, Cromwell instigated the Ethnic Cleansing of Ireland. He demanded that all Irish people were to resettle west of the Shannon, in arid, uninhabitable land, or be transported to the West Indies. The Irish refused to relocate peaceably, for the most part, since they couldn't survive if they did.

A law, published in 1657, read:

"Those who fail to transplant themselves into Connaught
(Ireland's Western Province) or (County) Clare within six
months... Shall be attained of high treason... Are to be sent
into America or some other parts beyond the seas..."(1)

Any who attempted to return would

"suffer the pains of death as
felons by virtue of this act, without benefit of Clergy."(2)

The soldiers were encouraged to kill the Irish who refused to move; it was certainly not considered a crime. But the slave trade was so profitable that it was much more lucrative to round them up and sell them. Gangs went out to fill quotas by capturing whoever came across their path; they were so industrious that they accidentally captured a number of French and English and several thousand Scots in the process. By Cromwell's death, at least 100,000 Irish men, women, and children had been sold in the West Indies, Virginia, and New England. While most were sold to the sugar planters in Barbados, Jamaica and throughout the West Indies, some writers assert that at least 20,000 were sold to the American colonies. (3) The earliest record of Irish slaves in America was in 1620, with the arrival of
200 slaves. Most of the documentation, however, comes from the West Indies.

In 1742, a document entitled Thurloe's State Papers, published in London, opined that:

"..It was a measure beneficial to Ireland, which was
thus relieved of a population that might trouble the planters; it
was a benefit to the people removed, which might thus be made
English and Christians ... a great benefit to the West India
sugar planters, who desired men and boys for their bondsmen, and
the women and Irish girls... To solace them."(4)

Note the chilling insouciance of the purpose stated for the women and Irish girls. . to "solace" the sugar planters. Also, to our way of thinking, the Irish were Christians, but to the Protestant English, Catholics were considered Papist, and Papists weren't Christians.

So for the entire 17th Century, from 1600 until 1699, there were many more Irish sold as slaves than Africans. There are records of Irish slaves well into the 18th Century.

Many never made it off the ships. According to written record, in at least one incident 132 slaves, men, women, and children, were dumped overboard to drown because ships' supplies were running low. They were drowned because the insurance would pay for an "accident," but not if the slaves were allowed to starve. Typical death rates on the ships were from 37% to 50%.

In the West Indies, the African and Irish slaves were housed together, but because the African slaves were much more costly, they were treated much better than the Irish slaves. Also, the Irish were Catholic, and Papists were hated among the Protestant planters. An Irish slave would endure such treatment as having his hands and feet set on fire or being strung up and beaten for even a small infraction. Richard Ligon, who witnessed these things first-hand and recorded them in a history of Barbados he published in 1657, stated:

"Truly, I have seen cruelty there done to servants as I did not think one Christian could
have done to another."(5)

According to Sean O'Callahan, in To Hell or Barbados, Irish men and women were inspected like cattle there, just as the Africans were. In addition, Irish slaves, who were harder to distinguish from their owners since they shared the same skin color, were branded with the owner's initials, the women on the forearm and the men on the buttocks. O'Callahan goes on to say that the women were not only sold to the planters as sexual slaves but were often sold to local brothels as well. He states that the black or mulatto overseers also often forced the women to strip while working in the fields and often used them sexually as well.(6)

The one advantage the Irish slaves had over the African slaves was that since they were literate and they did not survive well in the fields, they were generally used as house servants, accountants, and teachers. But the gentility of the service did not correlate to the punishment for infractions. Flogging was common, and most slave owners did not really care if they killed an easily replaceable, cheap Irish slave.

While most of these slaves who survived were eventually freed after their time of service was completed, many leaving the islands for the American colonies, many were not, and the planters found another way to insure a free supply of valuable slaves. They were quick to "find solace" and start breeding with the Irish slave women. Many of them were very pretty, but more than that, while most of the Irish were sold for only a period of service, usually about 10 years assuming they survived, their children were born slaves for life. The planters knew that most of the mothers would remain in servitude to remain with their children even after their service was technically up.

The planters also began to breed the Irish women with the African male slaves to make lighter skinned slaves, because the lighter skinned slaves were more desirable and could be sold for more money. A law was passed against this practice in 1681, not for moral reasons but because the practice was causing the Royal African Company to lose money. According to James F. Cavanaugh, this company, sent 249 shiploads of slaves to the West Indies in the 1680's, a total of 60,000 African and Irish, 14,000 of whom died in passage.(7)

While the trade in Irish slaves tapered off after the defeat of King James in 1691, England once again shipped out thousands of Irish prisoners who were taken after the Irish Rebellion of 1798. These prisoners were shipped to America and to Australia, specifically to be sold as slaves.

No Irish slave shipped to the West Indies or America has ever been known to have returned to Ireland. Many died, either in passage or from abuse or overwork. Others won their freedom and emigrated to the American colonies. Still others remained in the West Indies, which still contain an population of "Black Irish," many the descendents of the children of black slaves and Irish slaves.

In 1688, the first woman killed in Cotton Mather's witch trials in Massachusetts was an old Irish woman named Anne Glover, who had been captured and sold as a slave in 1650. She spoke no English. She could recite The Lord's Prayer in Gaelic and Latin, but without English, Mather decided her Gaelic was discourse with the devil, and hung her.(8)

It was not until 1839 that a law was passed in England ending the slave trade, and thus the trade in Irish slaves.

It is unfortunate that, while the descendents of black slaves have kept their history alive and not allowed their atrocity to be forgotten, the Irish heritage of slavery in America and the West Indies has been largely ignored or forgotten. It is my hope that this article will help in some small way to change that and to commemorate these unfortunate people.

My impression is that it presented slavery accurately from a legal perspective, and it presented the slave owners accurately from a moral perspective, and it presented the slaves accurately from a spiritual perspective. Legally, slaves are human 'property'. Their owners could do what they wished with their 'property'. Slave owners were constrained only by their moral sensibilities. Some had such sensibilities, others didn't. One slave trader in the movie who unhesitatingly separated a mother from her children by selling the mother and the children to different owners claimed that his 'sentimentality' could be measured by the width of a coin. And the slaves fell into many spiritual categories--from sycophants to whores to pragmatists to nobility. in the end you got a good sense of what America was like when slavery was legal.

I wish someone would make as good a movie as this that covers how in America, the free, sovereign people had gradually become subjects (citizens) beholden to the moneyed class; how their rights became privileges granted by the government, And how virtually everyone allowed themselves to not question the fractional reserve debt based money system and became debt slaves, paying for everything on the installment plan in arrears, instead of virtuously saving their money to buy what they wanted. Modern slavery is not too much different from human bondage in pre civil war America. The evil masters now wear blue uniforms, and everyone is controlled with licenses and taxes and codes and regulations. I'm absolutely sure a good movie can be made showing all this, but I doubt that it will be coming from Hollywood. Maybe when the NWO is fully implemented, it might be made as a nostalgia piece about 'the good old times'.

Indentured servitude was a labour system where by young people paid for their passage to the New World by working for an employer for a certain number of years. One of the best-known Dutch Rabbi, Lody Van de Kamp, who has authored several books on European Jewish history, is quoted by JTA, saying: “Money was earned by Jewish communities in South America, partly through slavery, and went to Holland, where Jewish bankers handled it.”



In his forthcoming book, entitled ‘The Jewish Slave’, the rabbi claims that in one area of what used to be Dutch Guyana, 40 Jewish-owned plantations were home to a total population of at least 5,000 slaves. Known as the Jodensavanne, or Jewish Savannah, the area had a Jewish community of several hundred before its destruction in a slave uprising in 1832. Nearly all of them immigrated to Holland, bringing their accumulated wealth with them.


Rabbi Lody Van de Kamp has been criticized by the pro-Israel Dutch Jewish leaders in the past for suggesting that they should have dialogue with Dutch Muslim leaders instead calling them ‘antisemites’. He has also disagreed with other rabbis for “compromising” with the Dutch government over “kosher slaughtering” dispute, which he called “distortion” of Torah laws.


However, Rabbi Van de Kamp is not the first rabbi to admit Jewish role in African slavery. Rabbi Marc Lee Raphael, in book, ‘Jews and Judaism in United States: A Documentary History’, also exposed Jewish domination of slavery in the US, France, England and Denmark. In 1991, when Nation of Islam published its study, titled ‘The Secret Relationship between Blacks and Jews‘, the group’s leader Louis Farrakhan was called “racist and antisemite’ by the organized Jewry.


“Farrakhan is hated by Jews, and has long been targeted by powerful Jewish groups such as the ADL and SPLC. Jews also detest the Nation of Islam itself. In 1942 a secret ADL file, “Temple of Islam Infiltration,” stated that “a Negro employed by us” proved “quite instrumental” in an FBI raid on the Chicago mosque that resulted in 82 arrests. In 1959 the American Jewish Committee sent black spies from the Urban League to report on an appearance by then-NOI leader Elijah Muhammad in Newark,” wrote Andrew Hamilton.
