Guess they are effed then if the mainstream news is reporting it now.
From the article:
This has led to desperate measures. On Sunday, Greece announced an emergency property tax of about 50 cents per square foot on all buildings, payable immediately, in a effort to top up government coffers enough to meet bailout conditions.
Imagine if you had a 2000sqft house. (or worse a large commercial building) Surprise!! You owe us $1000 because we say so!
It is like the government over there is purposely trying to destroy what is left of the economy. Where are people going to come up with the money when they are already struggling. Which is the point I guess. They will probably come seize your property when you don't pay the protection money. Agenda 21 at it's finest.

Ha ha ha - that tax is the height of absurditiy, particulalry for Greece. The Greeks are masters of tax evasion. I'm guessing that many will simply throw their hands up in resignation to the tax collector and say in effect: 'Fine, I don't have it [the tax money]. Take the house! But, I'm staying - me and Nick, Nick, Nick, Theo and Nick. What are you going to do about it?'

Sounds to me like the making of a new revolution.......those overseas and lesss and less scared of their government.......the American people should learn something from them..............what a shame, where we were once the leaders we are now the followers.

Günther Oettinger, Germany’s representative on the European Commission, said last week that Europe should send United Nations soldiers to Greece to liquidate its assets and force tax collection, according to the Daily Telegraph.
So a government should send troops to force another government to pay it's banks?

Hate to say it. Not the only ones either. There's plenty that bone could be pointed at.

i would just build a new house in the shape of an inverted pyramid.
with square footage of 1 square foot.
and i would tell them, "that's not the floor, that's the WALL !"
