We built an Embassy in Baghdad BIGGER than the Vatican! Holy Shit!
When he even mentioned Palestine, the crowd went into their Pavlovian Conditioning with boos and chants. This is going to be the biggest obstacle for RP........Israel.
And i think RP is WRONG on SS. It is a Ponzi scheme, and is immoral and unjust. The system is set up to 'force' you into it so to say. NO form of it will work, just like no form of fractional reserve banking will work.

His comprimise position on 9/11 is a real impediment. He cannot come out as having doubts about who did it because he is part of the establishment, so he has to explain it away using his standard foreign policy formulations, but unfortunately, it misses the mark somewhat in this case. If he could say that someone "allowed" 9/11 to occur (and not the US government, but rather a few key individuals and possibly an "ally"), he could explain it better, but may lose even worse. Talk about a catch-22.

I believe Ron knows full well that it's a ponzi scheme. But he is attempting to separate himself to get the senior vote which is a large voting block. Yet at the same time appealing to the younger vote by allowing them to opt out of it.

in 1994 i had an interview for computer graphics work with the US government & was asked about the assassination of JFK.
i said, point blank, "you guys did it, didn't you ?"
the interview ended pretty quickly, though i was invited back for another 6 months later.
in hindsight, i could have said, "looks like it was a rogue posse of Bay of Pigs veterans".
this would have been CLOSE to the truth, and a lot more diplomatic.
i wonder if there is a "third way" for Ron Paul, something diplomatic yet honest.
to be honest, though, i don't think the general public is too psyched about the War on Terror.
RP could easily go on the offensive, e.g. talking about the TSA & proposing to stop airport security pat-downs.
there is plenty about the War of Terror that the US public doesn't like.
Ron Paul could also acknowledge that the US gov. has some "new leads about 9-11 that have been kept confidential" (i.e. Israel) that he will pursue if elected President.

I often wonder who gets into these debates - clearly it's a hot ticket and there are only so many to go around. Some have said well it's Florida, what do you expect in terms of Jews voting for the home team. But if you listen closely, it also sounds like a strategically-timed chorus of hand-picked agents to continue the subtle attack on his campaign.
CNN was blowing Perry all night long, dodged the Fed question when clearly RP would have taken the debate with his answer, and Santorum's over the top whore act about "your website after 9/11" was all designed to engineer illusion vs. add any substance to an otherwise lackluster evening of smiles and pocket pool.
The key to this thing is money. Out of the characters on stage last night, money will relegate most of them to the dustbin of history. I'm not watching for substance so much as to track which ones are obviously pandering for a place at the table. I will continue to financially support the truth - the argument of whether or not he is electable has been well-articulated here and I won't pretend to offer a silver lining.
But as long as Ron Paul is there and continues to wake people up, TPTB are forced to eat it and continue their game of ignore and marginalize. The fact society is conditioned like dogs to worship anything that is Israel-friendly wrapped in the American flag is legitimacy through sheer saturation. More people are getting hip to it, and last night's cat calls about Palestine from the audience seemed strategic, not spontaneous. That can backfire and pull in cross-over moderates and liberals. At 14 months out it's still pre-season.

I started a thread down in the Ron Paul forum, but I doubt it will get the traffic it needs there.
This is a good one:

Indeed, all one need do is to trip the trigger of AARP and one's political fortunes are DONE.
