Report: PA Has Support of 9 Security Council Members
10/11/2011

PA negotiator Nabil Shaath said on Monday that the PA has gotten nine members of the UN Security Council to vote in favor of the PA’s request to obtain full membership in the UN, despite the pressures exerted by the United States and Israel.

In an interview with the Bethlehem-based Ma’an news agency, Shaath said the countries that support the statehood bid are Gabon, Bosnia, Brazil, India, Lebanon, Nigeria, South Africa, China and Russia. Shaath also reiterated that despite the Quartet’s statements, the PA will be willing to return to negotiations with Israel only if construction in Judea and Samaria stops
