frankly, i'm amazed that we do not have this here what with al of the scary drug cartels running guns along the border, etc. i'm also amazed we don't have vat on metals like europe. to be able to just buy them like you're purchasing a bushel of apples is amazing.

Sounds like they want a paper trailYep. That'll help the gov in the future to make sure all capital gains are properly taxed.
...and as inflation ultimately pushes the prices ever higher, it'll slowly squeeze out those trying to stay under the limit and therefore under the radar.

There's always diversification into other metals, such as copper, brass, and lead (in their assembled form of course).
