Only three Republican presidential candidates are worth any money — campaign money, that is.

Mitt Romney, Rick Perry and Ron Paul have banked millions. But the other GOP candidates are struggling or broke, putting their candidacies in question four months before the first nominating contests take place.

I just saw an interesting statistic the other night but haven't been able to confirm it but it made sense.

94% of winning candidates had more money then their opponent

Sure, I'll agree with that.

"The winning candidate in more than 90 percent of the 2008 House and Senate races was also the candidate who spent the most money."

Ron Paul’s Campaign Raises At Least $5 Million in 3rd Quarter

Rep. Ron Paul’s presidential campaign raised at least $5 million during the past three months, campaign spokesman Gary Johnson told Washington Wire.

The third quarter total is up from $4.5 million in the April through June quarter, and comes as Mr. Paul, who is reprising his 2008 role as the libertarian candidate of the GOP field, has shown a modest rise in national polls.

Friday marks the end of the third quarter, and in the coming days, candidates’ campaigns will release fund-raising totals for the period. The numbers serve as a gauge of a campaign’s strength.

Mr. Paul’s haul, for instance, is less than half of the sum Mitt Romney’s campaign is expected to report, according to news reports. Mr. Paul’s campaign said most of its money came from small donors, who can give again under federal campaign finance limits.
