Received in an e-mail ....

"The other day I wrote about Costco stocking their meat counters with “Halal” meat."
So yesterday I shopped for groceries at my local Walmart. As usual, I bought a bag of frozen chicken breasts, but this time I checked to make sure the meat was not labeled “Halal”. Here’s why.

Halal is the Islamic term that basically means the meat is lawful to eat for a devout Muslim. What makes it lawful or acceptable is that the meat has been processed in a very specific way. Unlike kosher food, where the physical processing of the meat is the focus, for Islam it is the spiritual component that makes the meat lawful.

For lawful (halal) meat in Islam, the animal must be killed while the butcher faces Mecca, and either the butcher cries “Allah Akbar” or a tape plays the words over a loud speaker.

Ann Barnhardt,is a cattle commodities broker, has more about “Halal."
NEVER buy meat that is marked as “Halal”.

I am in the cattle business, and believe me when I tell you that Halal kill plants are CONSTANTLY being cited and shut down by the USDA for horrific, infractions. Most of these plants are in Michigan and upstate New York.

One of the things that halal kill plants are notorious for is putting already-dead animals in the human consumption line. They will go pick up a dead cow off of a farm or ranch and instead of putting it in their rendering tank where the resulting “tankage” is worth pennies on the dollar as pet food or industrial products, they will shackle the dead animal on the normal kill line and process it as human food which is the highest-dollar product.

Since Islam teaches dishonesty (taqiyyah) and no regard for one’s neighbor, this kind of sickening behavior is standard.

Halal plants are also notorious for general citations for filth and uncleanliness. I have toured normal cattle slaughter plants, and guys, you could eat off of the floor. Everything is white and men walk around with water hoses and steam guns constantly keeping everything in a state of spotlessness.

Halal plants are filthy. A lot of Halal meat is also labeled as “organic”.

Again, don’t be fooled into thinking that “halal” means “better”. It isn’t. I would never, ever knowingly eat halal meat purely from a food safety perspective.

Following a seven-week undercover investigation conducted between July 22
and September 12, 2004, PETA has released shocking video footage of
horribly mistreated cows at Postville, Iowa-based AgriProcessors, Inc., the
largest glatt kosher slaughterhouse in the world. PETA has filed a formal
complaint with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), calling on the
agency to prosecute the plant for violations of the federal Humane Methods
of Livestock Slaughter Act (HMLSA).

A number of rabbis, including Rabbi Shear-Yashuv Cohen, Ashkenazic Chief
Rabbi of Haifa and Rabbi David Rosen, former Chief Rabbi of Ireland, have
viewed the videos and expressed shock and disbelief at the conditions
shown. The rabbis stated their beliefs that Jewish law was violated and
that meat from the animals is not kosher.

I can go touch and talk to my beef on the hoof today.

I know the rancher and I know the butcher and I know what the cow is eating.

Why would I buy some crap off a shelf?

I know the butcher

Many home town and farm based butchers were driven out of existence here in the early '70s. The state decided they all needed to have expensive stainless counters and tables. Rather than make the "investment" many chose to find other sources of income.

Now 99% of slaughter animals go to a packing house to get "blended" with other animals.

Is anyone healthier as a result?

Ohio Muslim inmates sue over meal preparation

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A Muslim death row inmate says the Ohio prison system is denying him meals prepared according to Islamic law while at the same time providing kosher meals to Jewish prisoners, according to a federal lawsuit that alleges a civil rights violation.
The state said Monday that it has already removed pork from its menus in response to the lawsuit brought by condemned inmate Abdul Awkal, who argues the prison system's failure to provide halal meals is a restraint on his religious freedoms.
Awkal, joined by a second inmate not on death row, says the vegetarian and non-pork options offered by the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction aren't good enough. The inmates say food must be prepared in specific fashion, such as ensuring that an animal is butchered by slitting its throat and draining its blood, to conform to Islamic beliefs.
"The issue of eating Halal meals is especially important to me because I face a death sentence," Awkal said in a filing in federal court earlier this year. "It is important to me that I follow the requirements of my faith as I approach death."
The state's recent decision to drop pork from all meals accommodates religious preferences without jeopardizing security, said Carlo LoParo, spokesman for the state corrections department. It "eliminates any doubt that Muslims or any inmate who has a specific prohibition against pork products receives pork inadvertently or otherwise," he said.
"It's a concession that we can make that doesn't compromise other aspects of our operation," he said.
But Monday's announcement doesn't solve that meat isn't slaughtered in the appropriate way for Muslim inmates who adhere to religious tradition, said David Singleton, executive director of the Ohio Justice and Policy Center, which brought the lawsuit on Awkal's behalf. He said the lawsuit will continue.
A judge has given lawyers and inmates for the state until next month to finish filing documents bolstering their arguments, ahead of an expected January trial.
Awkal, 52, is scheduled to die in June for killing his estranged wife, Latife Awkal, and brother-in-law Mahmoud Abdul-Aziz in 1992, in a room in Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court.
Joining Awkal in the lawsuit is Cornelius Causey, 35, serving 15 years to life for murder and aggravated robbery convictions out of Hamilton County.
Ohio argues that it provides both non-pork and vegetarian meals to Muslims and says the courts have sided with this practice. The state also says that providing halal meals could hurt Ohio financially, given the current budget situation.
"The complete restructuring of ODRC's food service administration and preparation, at a cost of millions to the State of Ohio during fiscal crisis, is at stake," Ryan Dolan, an assistant attorney general, argued in a court filing.
Ohio included in its response to the lawsuit a document from a Muslim who does regular spiritual counseling of Muslim inmates.
While Imam Sunni-Ali Islam said he thought it was problematic that Ohio provided kosher but not halal meals, he said he doesn't think it rises to the level of religious discrimination.
The state's prison guidelines for Jewish prisoners say, "The Department will accommodate kosher dietary restrictions to recognized Jewish inmates." Kosher guidelines also address proper ways to slaughter animals and prepare meat.
For Muslim inmates, prison rules say, "The diet will be free of all pork and products containing or derived from pork. The institution will provide nutritionally adequate meat and non-meat alternatives."
Ohio spends about $3.50 to $7 on kosher meals compared to $1.70 for regular meals, LoParo said. He would not comment on the lawsuit itself beyond documents filed in support of the state position.
California provides packaged kosher meals to Jewish inmates and halal meals prepared at prisons for Muslim prisoners. Meats used for the halal meals are cooked separately from other prison food, said spokesman Paul Herke.
The state serves about 4,100 halal meals a day at a cost of about $3.50 per day, compared with about $2.90 a day for regular prison meals.
"We would consider that a pretty nominal difference," Herke said.
Arizona provides vegetarian and other options to satisfy the halal requirement but does not provide meals specifically dubbed halal.
Similarly, Muslim inmates in Texas can select regular, meat-free or pork-free meals but are not served halal meals. Massachusetts serves both kosher and halal meals.
Ohio says requiring halal meals could mean new dietary plans for as many as 2,000 inmates, while Awkal's lawyers believe the figure is lower because not all Muslims eat halal meals.

More disinformation from the Zionistas I see. All fear the scary Moozlims!

My family used to be in the food business, there is a huge difference
in food prepared by Europeans and food prepared by third worlders.

When I was a teenager working in the business, my boss told me,
" if you won't eat it throw it away. " That was the standard.
That was a Greek restaurant, they took pride in what they served.
They appreciated the customer and didn't give dirty looks for complaints
or requests. Not like what I get sometimes today.

I don't eat out because of what I see, things most people do not see or
understand to importance, I refuse to eat out from places I can
identify lax standards, and for the most part it is third worlders
working these conditions, like chinese restaurants are notoriously
uncleanly.

I worked as a bartender, pinch hitter, at a expensive Japanese hotel,
they put me in their bar inside the kitchen of one of their stand alone
restaurants, I worked 2 days and quit in disgust. LOL

A Halal meat sign tells me to stay the fuck out.

If people serving do not have a good attitude that is genuine,
stay out, minor uncleanliness in a non open concept, stay out,
open concept is best, watch them work.

Muslims = Bad Attitude , stay out, don't take food from Gypsies.

Let him go to hell! He didn't have any problem murdering and taking away all the rights of his wife and brother-in-law, and now he is whining about not getting a meal prepared to his standards... Not getting the food he wants doesn't equate cruel and unusual punishment...

i have friends who are Muslim who are disgusted by my eating bacon.

so what ?

if we co-habited, i would set up a small fridge in the garage and cook my bacon there.

as they explain Halal to me, it's a bit like Kosher - no pork, no pork fat.

one of them insists that "pigs eat shit", and i try to point out that many American agri-biz animals (e.g. cows) eat shit because that is what they are fed.

i think Halal is like some of the other vestigial remnants of the Islam culture. 500 years ago, being extremely protective of the women in your tribe - as Muslims are - might have been a REAL good idea.

also, there is the fact that pork & human flesh have a similar taste - i'm sure some un-scrupulous butchers passed off human meat as pork many centuries ago.

religion seems like a way that people "honor their ancestors" by mimicking their ancestors' customers. so, Muslims avoid pork & are over-protective of their womenfolk, because 500 years ago that was wise behavior.

I'm not fan of muslims but this article is just crap.

Halal basically is Kosher with some minor differences. The method of slaughter and inspection is what matters, not any prayers.
If I was in a big nameless supermarket and I had to choose, I'd pick either one over the regular meat.
