New York City Police Foundation — New YorkJPMorgan Chase recently donated an unprecedented $4.6 million to the New York City Police Foundation.

The gift was the largest in the history of the foundation and will enable the New York City Police Department to strengthen security in the Big Apple. The money will pay for 1,000 new patrol car laptops, as well as security monitoring software in the NYPD's main data center.

New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly sent CEO and Chairman Jamie Dimon a note expressing "profound gratitude" for the company's donation.
"These officers put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe," Dimon said. "We're incredibly proud to help them build this program and let them know how much we value their hard work."

since when can/should a corporation DONTATE to a law enforcement service? The police should get all their funding from the state and only the state.

Unfortunately "the state" left the scene in 1967 because by agreement it can only make gold or silver a tender of payment and there was none in circulation.

It's substitute ["this state"] is a corporation for corporations. Police entities exist for the protection of these corporations. This being the case they rely upon corporations for their corporate existence.

On a similar note, I have both a dunkin donuts and McDonalds nearby, kids will NOT hangout & trash the parking lot at D&D! The cops will run them off, since they eat free at D&D. McDonalds dosen't pass out free food and drinks to the cops, so the cops are rather slow in responding to calls of loitering where their back isn't being scratched.
