Queen fanatic lay dead for 'about three years' within sight of Buckingham Palace
An American who was obsessed with the Queen lay dead near Buckingham Palace in London for "about three years" before being discovered, an inquest has heard.
The skeletal remains of Robert James Moore, 69, were found on the small West Island, within 100 metres of the Palace, on March 15 this year, the UK's Daily Mail (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2044588/Queen-obsessive-Robert-Moores-body-lay-100-yards-Buckingham-Palace-3-YEARS.html) reported.
Nearby lay vodka bottles and a passport - with a photo matching one he had sent the Queen.
Westminster Crown Court was told Mr Moore had sent hundreds of "strange and offensive" packages to the Queen - some including obscene photographs.
West Island is not open to the public, so Mr Moore had to access it by boat or by wading across a shallow lake. Once there, it gave him a clear view of the palace, the inquest heard.
Detective Sergeant Mike West, from Marylebone Police Station, said: "He had a fixation with the Queen and the Royal Family, which takes us back to the place where he was discovered.
"There would not be a better place to remain undiscovered within view of the Queen's primary residence than the West Island."
The amount of mulch covering Mr Moore's body would have taken "between two and three years to accumulate", the inquest was told.
A pathologist estimated that Mr Moore's remains had been on the island for "about three years".
