52:53 CC is now automatic.
To theorize about our state of existence used to be called philosophy; now it's called conspiracy theory.

Excellent movie, and right up my alley.
The documentation for the Bernard London idea of planned obsolescence sounds exactly like "Cash for Clunkers".
That planned obsolescence made me feel ill. I am so happy to be (mostly) immune to their version of planned obsolescence - which is materialism. They call it free will, and it is, but it is forced along by media. Building a product that fails on purpose is unforgivable . . . and it seems that all companies do it.

It says a bunch of stuff, mostly about Ron Paul jousting Barry.
It is actually a good flick, I actually learned a few things.

Too late in the evening to watch OP, but I've been wanting to post a reminder to get your 100W light bulbs while you can, so stock up now! Ban goes into effect Jan. 1.

Punch Back on Non-Durable "Durable Goods" & the Combination

There are many ways we can push back on the corporate oligarchy from growing our own food, to clicking on a political advertisement, by purchasing less things, and by demanding that the things we purchase as durable goods meet the standard that the name implies. Planned obsolescence contributes to debt slavery. I talk about the watch chronology which explains that most corporations are not excepting people to push back on defective products. I talk about how Joe the "Silverfuturist" has been pushing back on Monsanto and helping himself to quality food in the process. Joe speaks mostly to the silver and gold community and I see that as one of the "single item" that might benefit us while driving reform. I would urge him and others in the silver community to start to expand their impact by developing a combination punch strategy whereby we are doing many things that will be effective for us and others.

The original flic was one of the reasons I left U.S. after buying a new coffee maker every year.
Down here in Costa, you can find a guy that will go the length to fix the old, under the price of the new.

these light globes shit me no end. The old incandescent cost about $0.60 a piece. I pay close to $6.00 per 1 CF globe..... which I might point out is not a friggin globe at all. The don't last as long. Their heat cooks the glue and they fall apart.
I'm at the point where I won't buy them. I rent and it's a requirement that I replace busted globes but there is no way I am going to pay those kind of dollars for "globes" I have to leave behind.
I've trialled Hallogen globes. These look just like incandescent. The insides are a bit different. I think these are a suitable replacment. Cost maybe 1/2 of a CF. Light is good. Don't know about energy consumption but I don't think it's worse than the other options. Life span will be the test. Only about 1 year in and in a location I don't use a whole lot. Perhaps I need to move it to a different location where it will get used more.
It's definately a scam of some sort.

It's a scam to make us all sick as these things radiate mercury and suck the vit D from our bodies thus reducing immune systems. I will not have a CF bulb in my house.

Helen told me this morning when I read this to her, that planned obsolescence began with women's silk stockings becoming "the norm"---in 1912 when they were invented, then replaced by nylon stockings in 1942. If she's right, then CF are way down the central planners' primrose (planned obsolescence) path according to her world view.
Love that wife of mine's humor. LOL

She's right. The documentary tells of this @(26:32) 1940 Dupont Nylon.
