""""
It begins with one police officer telling another, earlier in the day, "My little nightstick is going to get a workout tonight" -- presumably referring to his baton -- and both officers laughing. Then it cuts to footage of several police officers standing in the middle of a crowd of protesters, who are penned in by metal barriers, and hitting a number of the protesters with their batons. """

I wonder if they'll still be laughing after they've pissed off enough people that the protest turns violent.

in all of the videos i've seen, the protesters outnumber them 10 or 20 to 1. they better be careful. sooner or later a group of them is going to have had it.

Come on, those "protesters" are praying some policeman gets violent.
This is how the left/boysheviks/alinskyites, get their 70 virgins, OK mixed metaphors here but you get my drift.

i think some of the cops would like it if the protest turns violent - that's what they train for - you can only sit around drinking so much coffee & eating so many donuts.
however, if the protesters keep their composure, and get the violent cops' home addresses, and take their time ... well some of those cops might just disappear. THAT would be progress.

I guess we will see if the protesters can keep their resolve to be peaceful.

I am really surprised that we haven't seen some of this already. Not necessarily with the occupy Wall street police but there are plenty of other cases of police brutality. Though I doubt the media would report this sort of thing. They wouldn't want to further encourage the peasantry.

In this situation it seems that the more the police use violence against the peaceful protesters the more awareness there is and the more people that will show up.
It just shows the police to be the cowards they are. Takes much more courage to put yourself in a situation to take a beating without a fight.

Don't worry, most Americans in general, especially white, liberal Americans are ball less. They have been neutered in many ways. As Eyebone said this is how a leftist gets made, by taking a beating and getting that victim status validated. Now I'm not advocating that they block off roads and occupy the buildings, but I really don't see the purpose of standing around on Wall Street, while business continues as usual with no type of change what so ever forth coming. Even if it is a majorly leftist protest.
Back in the day they would have been dispersed with a whiff of grapeshot by now.
Power only respects one thing, and these protesters don't have it.

Officer, you have the right to know that everything you say and do will be recorded and posted on the internet for all to see. Do you understand everything I've just said?

There are no secrets anymore! Cops can't hide anymore behind the badge! They are being out and known to their victims.

The OWS crowd may have been coopted by Marxist-Leftist bolshevik-wannabees. But at least they are only guilty of being ill-informed and misled. The anger expressed by these young people is justifiable: they are getting hosed by this corrupt monied oligarchy (Wall Street-Washington) out of pure greed for money and power. But the cops are far worse: their's is a cynical short-sighted self-interest and an intellectual laziness. They are too worried about getting their 'crumbs' (pensions and benefits) from their masters (the oligarchy) to see the broader criticism being raised by the OWS: that the system is fundamentally corrupt and unfair. What these cops cannot seem to grasp is that after the oligarchs have ground these kids to dust (using the cops as the implements), the cops themselves will be next in line.

Im pretty sure that was a blanket threat to the citizens.
What would happen to you or I if we threatened a Police Officer on camera?

peaceful protest does not remove bad cops from circulation, nor does it remove traitous elected representatives from office.
discussing details of actions that do remove bad cops & other traitors from office, is illegal in the US & tends to put names on lists.
one other aspect of peaceful protest - in my experience, a group of anti-war protesters will car-pool and drive from Sonoma County to San Francisco.
that alone makes anti-war protest a profit center for the war profiteers.
i wonder if Dick Cheney looks at these protests & thinks, "Protest all you want, Suckers, and thanks for the gas money !"
it's a conundrum. in that one case, i was one of the 4 that car-pooled. the designated driver was late getting started. if we had taken the bus, we would never have got there.
but, i was grateful for the driver. he was Israel-aware and made his way to the microphone. his questions were effective - basically proving that the group "World without War" in San Francisco has an agenda of protecting Israel. including "Rev." Lennox Yearwood, a Jesse-Jackson-in-training.

it takes really committed protesters to protest effectively - you have to get up early & take public transit.

I assume the bus is still enroute?
