It's supposed to be at 3:30 PM Eastern time. I doubt there are enough script kiddies who can do it. They couldn't even take down Amazon.com.

now i'm really confused. what is the point of erasing it after it's already closed for the day? wouldn't you want to erase mid-day and wreck things for everybody?
edit: whoops my bad, i forgot about the time change, i guess it still open then.

This may seem like a stupid question, but how do we know that the group/person who put out the warning is truly part of the Anonymous group? I am not sure how they can confirm or deny something without being identified.
I was just thinking, if I was (part of) Anonymous and made this claim, and it didn't turn out in my favor . . . I could just say that it wasn't the real Anonymous that made the claim in the first place.

Good point K-os. Could be imposters, trying to make Anonymous look inept, etc.
Or it could be real. If this shit is real and they pull this off, it's a clarion call.

NYSE was actually erased at 3.30 PM. But TPTB just continued to give a fictive chart after that, and since very few people question a good thing they decided to let it gain after 3.30, but it is all an illusion, don't fall for it! NYSE doesn't exist any more. Gone! Finito! Hasta la Vista! Sayonara! Adjö! Geschwinnt!
Try and call your stockbroker tomorrow! Heheheheee!

'Anonymous' takes down NYSE.com for 1 minute
"Hactivists" take down NYSE.com as an extension of the 'Occupy Wall Street'
CNNMoney 4:07 p.m. CDT, October 10, 2011
Anonymous (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/crime-law-justice/crimes/computer-crime/anonymous-%28internet-groups%29-ORCIG000069.topic)' call for a massive attack on the New York Stock Exchange (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/economy-business-finance/new-york-stock-exchange-ORCRP001376.topic)'s website was met Monday -- but very, very briefly.
A group calling itself Anonymous, a name used by disparate groups of online "hactivists," threatened to take down NYSE.com at 3:30 p.m. ET today as an extension of the "Occupy Wall Street" (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/politics/activism/protest/occupy-wall-street-EVGAP00019.topic) demonstrations that have continued into a fourth week.
The website was slow and then unavailable from about 3:35 p.m. to around 3:37 p.m, after which it returned to normal. Keynote, an Internet monitoring company, confirmed that NYSE.com slowed down during that time. Another tracking site, downforeveryoneorjustme.com, also registered a brief outage.
In a message that went out in early October through a video on YouTube (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/arts-culture/computer-networking-internet/social-media/youtube-ORCRP00000211004.topic), the group called for a "distributed denial of service" (DDoS) attack, which directs a flood of traffic to a website and temporarily crashes it by overwhelming its servers. It doesn't actually involve any hacking or security breaches, and would have no effect on NYSE's stock-trading systems.
Rich Adamonis, a spokesman from the NYSE, confirmed that trading was not impacted.
DDoS is a tool that Anonymous has employed successfully before, taking down MasterCard.com and Visa.com for several hours on Dec. 8, 2010. Monday's take-down was decidedly less significant.
The five days notice that the hacktivist group gave NYSE may have been enough time for the stock exchange to prepare, perhaps by increasing its server capacity. NYSE's Adamonis declined to comment further on the attack.
The YouTube video calling for today's attack announced: "A new civil rights movement has begun. You now have an opportunity to make a difference. Join the protests. Organize your own. Watch online. Be a part of the movement."
Anonymous' attacks haven't always worked: It failed in an attempt to take down Amazon.com (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/economy-business-finance/amazon.com-inc.-ORCRP000672.topic), which has extensive safeguards against sudden traffic spikes. The DDoS attacks have also led to the arrests of several participants.
At least a few people claiming to be part of Anonymous didn't think the attack on NYSE.com was a risk worth taking. Another site used to coordinate Anonymous operations, AnonNews.org, posted a statement saying that it was "sincerely worried" about the plan, due to the bad press it could give to the Occupy Wall Street movement.

We will show the world that we are true to our word. On October 10th, NYSE shall be erased from the Internet. On October 10th, expect a day that will never, ever, be forgotten.
Erased for a minute and only a maybe at that. Happened afterhours too.
Can't CIA/Mosad do better than that.
