Ron Paul Calls Out Herman Cain For Lie Over Fed Audit During GOP Debate

At the GOP Bloomberg/Washington Post debate Tuesday night, Ron Paul, the longest-serving advocate of a Fed audit in Congress, asked Herman Cain, a former director of the Kansas City Fed, why he opposed an audit of the central bank, and why he called advocates of such an audit ignorant.

"Mr. Cain, in the past you have been rather critical of any of us who would want to audit the Fed. You have said -- you've used pretty strong terms, that we were ignorant and that we didn't know what we are doing, and therefore, there was no need for an audit anyway, because if you had one, you're not going to find out anything, because everybody knows everything about the Fed," Paul said.
"But now that we have found and we have gotten an audit, we have found out an awful lot on how special businesses get bailed out -- Wall Street, the banks, and special companies, foreign governments. And you said that you advise those of us who were concerned, and you belittled -- you say call up the Federal Reserve and just ask them. ... Do you still stick by this, that that this is frivolous, or do you think it's very important? Sixty-four percent of the American people want a full audit of the Fed on a regular basis."
Cain said that, in fact, he didn't oppose an audit, and that when he served on the Fed it was a different institution. "You have misquoted me. I did not call you or any of your people ignorant. I don't know where that came from," he said. "You've gotta be careful of the stuff you get off the Internet."
A careful check of the Internet, however -- guided by the Paul campaign -- turns up audio of Cain saying just what Paul accused him of saying. As recently as 2010, long after the Fed began engaging in the lending Cain says he opposed, Cain belittled those calling for an audit.
"Some people say that we ought to audit the Fed. Here's what I do know. The Federal Reserve already has so many internal audits it's ridiculous. I don't know why people think we're gonna learn this great amount of information by auditing the Federal Reserve. I think a lot of people are calling for this audit of the Federal Reserve because they don't know enough about it. There's no hidden secrets going on in the Federal Reserve to my knowledge," he said.

i was watching this, and ron paul looked VERY weak when this happened. when he asked cain the question, cain challenged him to provide an example of when he had claimed it. ron paul didn't have an answer, and he mumbled "i'll get back to you on it" (or something to that effect), and then he scribbled something down on a piece of paper.

he should have had an answer to cain right then and there. in the debate, it did totally look like he was making it up. coming out with the proof the next day on the internet reaches no one but people who already believe in paul.

when this happened live, paul looked very foolish, i thought.

Read this over a couple of times. This guy is a moron. "Here's what I know" + "to my knowledge" = I know nothing. How would he know about internal audits - they're internal! He said "I think a lot of people are calling for this audit of the Federal Reserve because they don't know enough about it;" yeah, isn't that why you ask a question, to find an answer? This Cain guy is either a stooge or put up to this to disrupt the GOP field, probably to help Romney. Anyone who would defend the FED after the latter was found to have secretly given $16 TRILLIONS to banks (including foreign entities) is either a fucking moron or an interloper. Take your pick.

Cain said "There's no hidden secrets going on in the Federal Reserve to my knowledge;" How the fuck would he know if they're secret? The moronic dribble coming out of this guy's mouth has to be scripted - it's perfectly sculpted bullshit - a masterwork of crap.

Cain was "Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City".

Yes, I had heard this too. But:

A. This fact should have been disclosed first and foremost because
B. It is a outright conflict of interest.

If he was an agent of the FED, he has no business objecting to an audit. He is not a disinterested party.

Herman, the only reason why we invited you into the clubhouse is because being both clueless and stupid along with being black you make the perfect token house nigger.

If he was an agent of the FED

According to 12 USC 411 we are all apparently "Federal reserve agents" whatever those are.

Funny or ironic, or I don't know, but this line stuck with me ......... "You've gotta be careful of the stuff you get off the Internet"

Because there are two realities of political opinion in this country, MSM and the internet. I don't know if Cain thought about this comment or if just rolled off his lips, but this election (if fair?) will not be decided by oppinion formed from internet observation - comment & content. The MSM still holds sway over the majority of uninformed Americans that ignorantly show up on election day to fulfill their patrotic duty.

So, Cain telling Dr. Paul "You've gotta be careful of the stuff you get off the Internet" is deep, even if in a dumb luck kind of way.

The quintessential characteristic of a great leader is VISION, the ability to see further and sooner than his peers, to read all the clues and make the best judgments about the likely course of future events, and to provide contingencies for the most probable and plausible [unexpected] events. VISION is what separates the victorius general in battle from defeat and the needless slaughter of thousands of good men. Ron Paul has VISION far and above all others of his peers. He is the right man for the office of the POTUS at this critical time in US history, clearly the man of destiny. Sadly, the power mad mental midgets that own this country would sooner destroy this nation than share power with the people and a deserving capable leader in Ron Paul.

Republican presidential candidate and former Godfather's Pizza CEO Herman Cain admitted to MSNBC's Chuck Todd October 12 that he had "missed" the housing bubble and 2008 financial collapse.

"What I missed in 2005 was just how bad Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had distorted the housing market," Cain told Todd. "I honestly did not realize just how bad it was, just how bad the whole bundling and derivatives thing was, and that we were on the brink of a total financial meltdown. So I learned later on by looking into it deeper that the situation was a lot worse than I thought in 2005."

As late as September 1, 2008, Cain wrote that the economy seemed to be on solid ground...
