What's the big deal with "passing through the galactic center", or the ecliptic, that all these theories seem to hype up? The so called galactic plane we're supposedly going to pass through is like 3,000 light years thick. I doubt there's any one point you could say, "this is it, we just passed it". If we're going through it now, that means we started 1,500 years ago with another 1,500 to go. Wake me up when we get there.
