Thieves preying on fellow protesters

It’s a den of thieves!

Occupy Wall Street protesters said yesterday that packs of brazen crooks within their ranks have been robbing their fellow demonstrators blind, making off with pricey cameras, phones and laptops -- and even a hefty bundle of donated cash and food.

“Stealing is our biggest problem at the moment,” said Nan Terrie, 18, a kitchen and legal-team volunteer from Fort Lauderdale.

“I had my Mac stolen -- that was like $5,500. Every night, something else is gone. Last night, our entire [kitchen] budget for the day was stolen, so the first thing I had to do was . . . get the message out to our supporters that we needed food!”

MONEY DOESN’T TALK:An Occupy Wall Street demonstrator with a dollar-bill gag gives voice to his frustrations with a cardboard sign yesterday in Zuccotti Park, where some protesters have proven to be crooks

Crafty cat burglars sneaked into the makeshift kitchen at Zuccotti Park overnight and swiped as much as $2,500 in donated greenbacks from right under the noses of volunteers who’d fallen asleep after a long day whipping up meals for the hundreds of hungry protesters, the volunteers said.

“The worst thing is there’s people sleeping in the kitchen when they come, and they don’t even know about it! There are some really smart and sneaky thieves here,” Terrie said.

“I had umbrellas stolen, a fold-up bed I brought because my back is bad -- they took that, too!”

Security volunteer Harry Wyman, 22, of Brooklyn was furious about the thievery -- and vowed to get tough with the predatory perps.

“I’m not getting paid, but I’m not gonna stand for it. Why people got to come here and do stupid stuff? All it does is make people not wanna come here anymore,” Wyman fumed.

At one point yesterday, Wyman and other volunteers briefly scuffled with a man who was standing near a park entrance with a pail calling out: “Donations! Donations!” -- and pocketing the cash people tossed in the bucket.

Meanwhile, the Rev. Jesse Jackson was at Zuccotti late last night as he and about 50 protesters formed a human chain in front of a medical tent after police officers came over to ask about the tent, cops and protesters said.

“Jesse dropped in like a ninja,” said Stephanie Perricone, 21. “He came out of nowhere and helped us all out.”

The officers were asking about the size of the tent when the crowd of demonstrators -- including Jackson -- stood en masse in front of it.

The cops said didn’t ask for it to be taken down and the issue was quickly resolved.

Any way you want to slice or dice it, there are thieves in every segment of society. Theirs is no different.

Yeah I don't think this happens so much in Ron Paul rallies.

Communists are thieves ideologically anyway, why shouldn't they manifest it?

Seriously, whoever is in charge of the kitchen should be sleeping with that cash in their pockets.

They are in a huge crowd of people, and a portion of those people want free handouts for life.

...but yea, maybe not quite to the same degree. {hopefully not, anyways}

I figured you'd come back with that, but as we both seem to agree, the blatant communists would likely out-steal their hypothetical liberty-oriented counterparts.

Yes, I agree they would.
...but in either situation I'd still want someone awake to be watching over the valuables while others slept.

Yeah, but that would take "personal responsibility", which doesn't exactly seem to be one of the "OWS" tenets.

Well when they make statements like, "I WANT my XYZ to be paid for", that means that tax payers money's would be used for it, i.e. I'm a tax payer.

I agree but the majority of the people in the movement aren't focusing on socialist solutions. Instead, you see and hear a lot of people wanting to reinstate Glass-Steagall, ban high frequency trading, end the Federal Reserve, etc. Everyone has a different opinion and of course you are going to attract people who have an entitlement mentality. They represent the direction of the group no more than the person who is there to fight for gay rights or collective bargaining.

The movement is still young and it's the people's anger that is uniting them. The anger towards the crony crimocratic system. As it plays out there the focus will become clearer and if the solutions they pose are socialist in nature, I'm sure they will lose a lot of support.

That's the sense that I get based on anecdotal evidence. I admit I could be wrong though.

There are thieves anywhere, what makes you think a place where many young idealist people are concentrated would not attract predators? Of course many young people at #OWS are learning the lessons of the real world as we speak. Right now they are finding out that not only the Banksters rob people, but others when they have the chance rob each other too.

Maybe it'll cause some epiphanies.

With you, wonder what the alternate solution will be afterwards?

One where they continue to print, not the people? , or they even might even let the U.S. do that for a bit, as a "lesson" on what not to do for the rest of the entire planet.

Talk about a final battle.

There's just as many capitalistic thieves as are communist, the loot is just different.

Every good capitalist has the dough to buy his way out the big house, by accessing mandated laws.

ie: Pre-Reagan gold purchases.

This afternoon at drive time I just happened to stop at the light at the intersection adjacent to where the location 'occupy' is happening. There was a kid with dreads and ratty clothing there with a sign (didn't read it, print was to compacted) so I put the window down and asked him, "In a nutshell, what do you stand for?" His response: "I'm an anarchist. I believe in community...blah, blah, blah." (I could see where this was headed). Then he asked me, "What do you stand for?" My response: "Liberty and justice for all" to which he agreed.

Many of these kids are lost, but they have enough of their wits about them to realize that something is very wrong with the world as it's being run (by the money powers).

“I had my Mac stolen -- that was like $5,500."

A year of rent for me is $4,200

This is definitely a socialist/communist gathering. Sure there are some end the fed and fuck Zionism types there, but they are vastly out numbered by 20 even 30 somethings who live irresponsibly and want someone else to pay for it. Wouldn't be great to sit out in Manhattan all day getting hyped up with your $5000 lap top and not have to work? Individual private property, lol get out of here, wont see ANY of that. Bolshevism all the way. Class divide, divide and conquer.

And sure some might steal at a RP type gathering like this, but you know what? At a RP type gathering I bet a good amount of people would be armed.

I see this too, but they need to get their minds right. There is no reason not too. If I can wake up at age 19ish others can too, all they are doing is hurting everyone.

I wish my rent was only $4K and not the $20K I'm paying. yes and socialism means no property rights, whats yours is mine and whats mine is mine...... hang on that sounds like marriage.

So we've managed to label and classify the bi-partisans, falling back into our own paradigm.

What manner of avoidance is next East/West , Black/White, non Western European?

I'm seeing alot of Anti-OWS sentiment on facebook. People are posting pics of the protesters that say "In America you are the 99%", and then a picture of starving African Children and it says "To the rest of the world, you are the 1%".

I don't say shit on facebook, because of who owns it and mines it for info, but I am so tempted to try to educate people on how the 3rd world Countries are poor and starving by design.

People get guilted into donating money to the causes, and I speculate that more often than not, the charity organizations are fraudulent liars and thieves.

What we need is more people like you young man in the blue shit that went on the 10 minute video speech, about abolishing the FED and abolishing fractional reserve lending. I wish I could be there.
