The max input is 1500 watts, which is roughly 5,119.5 BTU's per hour. I like ceramic heaters the best, have tried oil and water filled and they also work. Thermal mass is good because it helps hold heat.

So far as brands go most all good name brand company's make good ones, depends on the bells and whistles that grab your fancy. Also if you have ceiling fans , run them on reverse to get the heat off the ceiling and down to the floor.

We have small ceramic heaters I run under my computer desk sometimes in the winter. They are similar to this:
http://www.amazon.com/Lasko-5412-TableTop-Ceramic-Heater/dp/B003XDTWNM/ref=sr_1_69?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1319119237&sr=1-69
My feet get really cold under my desk so I click it on when I'm sitting there gaming or whatnot.

I also have an electric oil filled radiator type heater that ran last winter in my daughters room, it worked well but take awhile to warm up. If you want instant heat one similar to what I linked above would be better.

Weird deja-vu.

I thought this thread was really old when I saw the title. I thought it was old and got bumped.

This is by far the best heater I ever had and worth every penny.
