Silver electroplated lead? All self-respecting counterfeiters know you're supposed to drill out a real silver bar and fill it with lead. These guys are too greedy.;D

This is why you never buy until it passes the PING test.

Is the ping test really that reliable? With rounds and coins I've noticed that different ones sound different. Some make a nice tone and others not so much. Try it with an SAE and then a Maple and then a Libertad. They all sound different to me. Would large bars be any different?
I also one time got a fake round and it "pinged" too.

Being a assayer will be a very lucrative business in the future
Better start hoarding the supplies now en masse.

The ping test is reserved for 10oz and up. Throw the silver in a sock and whack it with a hammer. PING!
Nothing sounds like silver. That clean ring that rings out forever. In fact, I'd like a cowbell made of .999. Now that would be awesome.

Plugs (and lead) don't ping its reported. Some real silver bars don't ping either.
This is the right sort of bias to have for a good test.
If concerns of counterfeiting take off, singing silver bars may be worth a little more than the dull ones.
