It's impossible to avoid "favoritism" (as you put it) in any social situation. However, I do make every attempt to be fair and objective... and give the benefit of the doubt in ambiguous cases. I don't think that has to always be the case. I've had people pull the "life isn't fair" card as they willfully played favorites and my response is that you could be fair if you really want to be, but that's just it, you have to first want to be fair in all situations and let those you're charged with know it in advance that there will be no special treatment.

The only reason life isn't fair is that too many people in places of authority tend to not want to be fair.
Imagine how much better the World would be if everyone strove to be fair in evrything they had influence over.


Personally, I take it as a great compliment to know that you do not give me any lattitude, yet I can still refrain from breaking the rules while under virtually constant adversity by certain people who must themselves be given lattitude in what they are doing. {or have done, as the case may be}

I don't think that has to always be the case. I've had people pull the "life isn't fair" card as they willfully played favorites and my response is that you could be fair if you really want to be, but that's just it, you have to first want to be fair in all situations and let those you're charged with know it in advance that there will be no special treatment.

I post like this when I want too... generally I stay away from religious debate threads because they only increase confusion. If I notice someone's post and I think I might be able to offer a good idea or insight for that person I'll post on it... otherwise, I'll stay away.

I am not religious, I abhor overly religious persons (religiosos), but most of my schooling, undergrad and grad, UNFORTUNATELY, is in religion/theology... this is no secret here, as zap said. You can find my posts, occasionally, in such topics as far back as I have been here.
