been acting like i'm still 16 lately; i have to go in for double inguinal hernia repair surgery on thursday. no way around it, i've been in total pain for the last week or so, can't even hardly walk. not a good place to be when you're only 40. going to mayo, so that's good.

as i'm completely a baby + horrified at the idea of being put under and having surgery, i need to be in a 'happy place' before i go in. as such, i have to avoid gs-us for awhile and focus on sheeplike things. no more doom for me until it'm on the other side of being cut open.

if you don't hear from me again, i guess the surgeon fucked up and killed me. :p

peace out all, see you all in a week or two.

You'll be alright. Everything will work out as it should. Que sera sera.

By the way, to whom it may concern: if you are reading this, I love you. :)

Chad, I had a single inguinal hernia operation. Going under was wonderful and coming back up was pretty great as well.

Didn't care for the following couple of weeks though. But it sure beat living with a hernia. Anyway, there's usually a pretty nurse fussing over you.
That's some consolation.

My best wishes, Chad. Solid is right! A good laugh is better than any prescription drug. And it's always free. I hope it doesn't hurt to laugh. My wife had a hernia, and thought I was sadistic when I told her some really funny jokes right after her surgery. But I think if it hurts to laugh, it's probably still good for you.

Speak for yourself, in my town if you aren't afraid of hospitals, seeing the nurses working there surely will.

Chad, you're right...take sometime to get your mind off the negativity. I'm not a religious man, but will find a way to pray for ya. Let us know as soon as you are out or when you feel able.

Thanks for the warning, Chad. Take care. We'll hold down the fort for ya'...You'll be up and around in no time. Just do what the surgeon tells you to do, to the letter. Healing one of those incisions does not leave room for guess work or "i wonder if I should do this or that." Just don't and give it time to heal. 40 is young, trrrrrrust me. LOL

Good luck Chad, my friend. Inguinal hernia is like being stuck between a rock and a hard place, when it comes to options. One can heal it naturally if one can take the time not putting pressure on the inguinal ligaments, ie stop carrying around heavy silver bars and gold veined boulders, and other work that requires that one stands up now and then. And then there is the surgery option that may work out quicker, but not always unfortunately...

Had it done to me many years ago,

Chad in some ways after the surgery it is what you make it to be.

Yes your will hurt but not as much as you may think, but that depends on the individual.

As soon as you can, get the hell out of your bed and start walking, you will want to walk bent over but push yourself to walk straight right from the get/go.

You need to stretch (slowly) and work the musciles in that area as soon as you can, so they will not draw up on you. Push yourself a little more everyday and you will be running before you know it.

May everything go well with you!

In April, 29th, 1961 a doctor of the 6th Soviet Antarctic expedition Leonid Rogozov aged 27 felt pain in a right lower belly and fever. The next day brought only exasperation. Having no chance to call a plane and being the only doctor at the station “Novolazarevskaya”, at night, in April, 30th the surgeon made an appendix removal operation on himself using local anesthesia.

I doubt it, unless you like seeing women that seem to be wearing halloween masks year-round, or if you're the one member in GSus that likes McDonalds and doesn't mind seeing BigMacs walking around the hospital, then I guess it's ok.... actually, no........no it isn't.

Chad I'll also pray that you get a pretty nurse to attend to you.

I think it is a good idea to try that before one jumps into a surgery... Success is by no means guaranteed with surgery...

From what I've read, inguinal hernia surgery has a low success rate.

That is what I have seen as well. However, it is also very difficult to get those stretched out inguinal ligaments to contract back to normal tone. The belt together with avoidance of sitting and standing (putting stress from the intestines on the ligaments) could do it however... As I said though with Inguinal hernia it is like being squeezed between a rock and a very hard place, and I guess that is how it feels like too...
