View Full Version : Moving - transporting the stack

I'm moving to my BOL.
Anyone have any tips, suggestions or experience moving their stack long distance from point A to point B?
I'd have no problem driving with it ("if you don't hold it..."), as my two dobies will be in the RV with me. Common criminals won't bother with me, but I worry about the donut gang (or even an accident or breakdown on the highway). I'm driving 800 miles thru SE states (TN not included).
Also, any comments on moving companies would be appreciated.

I would recommend a boat. Accidents happen.
As for choices- I would not ship separately but I wouyld have a backup plan in case of a break-down. If you are talking about significant weights and volumes, you should not be alone or using just one vehicle.

An RV is quite unlike your automobile 'cause it's actually viewed as your home and therefore cannot be as 'conveniently' searched as just an automobile or car which cannot be considered 'living space'. A search warrant is definitely called for - had a Texas DPS Trooper recently tell me this.
Something to consider though - if it's your own RV and you know it well (as no possible chance of 'drug' residue to trigger a K-9) then np, however if a rental RV there's always the chance of 'residue' being there.

Pack it up under your cans of Great Value Carrots and forget about it. As long as you look like any other RV and drive carefully you'll be fine.
Funny thing about paranoia, making a big deal about what you're "hiding" will show up if you do get pulled over. Relax!!

Carbon, I sent you a PM.
I wish you the best of luck. Will you be able to visit GSUS from the BOL?

Do you have receipts for said stacks purchase? There've been cases of people having large amounts of cash confiscated roadside and the person having to prove legit ownersihip via a paper trail.
I was wondering if the same could be done with big stacks, as I'm not sure.
...but if given the chance, I wouldn't put it past them. After all, law abiding folks use banks and other "legit" forms to hold their wealth and/or transfer, right? lol

I wouldnt really worry about it. Pack it in your RV and follow the standard guidlines for ANY police interaction (I.e. assert your rights, dont give in, dont let them search just because, etc). Secure them from theft if you need to leave your RV for an extended period.
Im all for healthy paranoia and security, but come on, really? Unless you've got thousands and thousands of ounces (hundreds of thousands of dollars) which is certainly possible, I'd pack it up like any other valuable item. If you DO have a major stash, I'd think about a more secure way.

I don't think the only issue is police search. I know he's only going 800 miles, but shit happens.
When I packed up my RV, I hid everything, and told my dad where I hid it, in case something happened to me.

Maybe put it in a bolted safe in your RV, and send the key to yourself, at your end location in registered mail. They would certainly need a search warrant with probable cause to break into your safe...

A while back, I read a LOT of moving stories where the transport co. would 'lose' your belongings. They would hold it ransom for you to get it back, at highly inflated prices over the contracted rate. If you didn't pony up, it would then be sold at storage shed auctions. Perhaps google to see if this is still a common practice?
Best of luck & congratulations on your BOL!
