Penn State Pres is gone, also.
Joe Doesn't get to "retire at end of season"... The Trustees have done the right thing. The liability of the University is off the charts, and the lawsuits will be devastating financially.
And the 20 or so young boys at least from 2002 forward, are finally getting a voice.
Young male innocents SHOULD take precedence over football.
Any day. Everyday! ALL DAY!

Leadership is taking responsibility for the crimes and misdemeanors of your subordinates when it is fair and reasonable to have expected you to know what they were doing. And as the boss, you are ultimately responsible for the conduct and performance of the organization. Paterno got what he deserved and is likely deserving of even more punitive actions.
Now, let's hope that Obama is held to similar standard when it is determined that Holder committed perjury and is an accessory to murder of hundreds, perhaps even thousands of innocents because of the reprehensible actions of operation "fast & furious."

Back when it was first discovered, anyone from the GA witness to JoePa on up could have blown the whistle, said "We run a squeaky clean university here and we are rooting out the evil," and looked like heros. No bad reflection on Penn State because they brought the guy to justice immediatly. Instead, they were afraid they would be tainted by association and they covered it up. Now look how tainted they are.

Police in riot gear have confronted hundreds of Penn State students who took to the streets after the ouster of football coach Joe Paterno. Crowds toppled a television news van. The students flooded downtown State College after Paterno and university President Graham Spanier were fired amid a growing furor linked to their handling of sex abuse allegations against former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.

My heart breaks for those children, and my heart seethes for all of those links in the chain that did nothing.

Kinda odd that it comes on the heels of him finally becoming the winningest coach in Div 1 history.
As said earlier, he will be remembered as someone who put football above kids lives. And frankly I don't see what he had to lose by blowing the whistle on this guy years ago when it happened, sure it would taint the reputation of the University, but it wouldn't taint his legacy since he was purging a scumbag from the University. Paterno may have skeletons in the closet himself.

This is only the beginning of this investigation.
He was not only giving these children lavish gifts, traveling with them, taking them into his home,
taking them to games, etc, he was doing this to kids who were in a horrible situation already in their home life.
One parent or no parent, possibly already abused, no money, poor as could be...........
then has the arrogance to do these evil acts where he could easily be caught.
Further, it is speculation that his victims were mostly african american children.
He believed he had a power above & beyond getting in trouble.
God help these victims. They just wanted/ needed love and someone to look out for them.
And instead they got this evilness.

He now suffers from dementia, lives in a nursing home, and is incompetent to testify.
He said he had been in Korea and seen guts blown out and dismembered people, but was a lot more shook up when he saw Sandusky fuckin' around with that little boy.
He and other employees were new at the time, and feared they'd lose their jobs if they spoke up.

When investigative journalist Danny Casolaro 'committed suicide' the journal/notebook he carried everywhere he went (before the laptop era) was not found in his hotel room.

The other image that is stuck in my mind is the absolute HORROR on Paterno's wife's face as she shrank into Joe's shoulder when he so magnanimously greeted the students and paternally told them to go home and back to their studies.
His pension is gone.
His campus housing is gone.
His reputation is gone.
Her financial security is gone.
Her physical housing is gone
Her husband is a shame to her and has performed the ultimate betrayal in her Catholic faith system.

Imagine being a betrayed Catholic Female in her 80+ year old shoes and it ALL BEING GONE. And for what? FOOTBALL?
If she and Joe's son(s?) have any balls, they should be putting a roof over Momma's head right now, and get her out of that house and his orbit before someone slits his throat and then hers, too simply because she was an eyewitness to his murder.

Why do they keep idolizing JoePa so bad ? It's like they're obsessed with him no matter what he did or didn't do.

Relatively low bail = "Let's keep ol' Jim calm and quiet (by being out of jail) while we concoct a scheme where (the perception is) he kills himself."

I can understand lurking for a bit, but a lot of these threads go in all kinds of directions, and cover a variety of topics, and I guess I find it hard to believe that over that time frame (7 years), that all your potential questions/confusions were cleared up and answered.
i.e.
talking about xyx, one poster states " think its like this", another says "no, its like this"
but both parties never provide any supporting evidence for their theories, and then the thread moves onto another topic...
now all you lurkers are left"well, who was correct, and where did they get their info from"?
whereas one simple, polite question might open a whole new world...

This is exactly like Boystown, prey on children that have nobody,

WTF are kids doing in University in the first place, in a football change

The entire administration knew at one point past rumors,

TomFlocco ain't a source or authority on this, I just
went through that, don't see anything wrong with it
but I would hesitate to post that as a source for info.
People can start with John DeCamp and his involvement.
The banned documentary, and related news stories of
past. Then asking questions is key, how is this possible ?
Edit add,
I just read that slowly, people can do their own research,
check the facts, there is a lot of good leads and events
in that overview. If people really want to know how real
this is, start with DeCamp, not just his book, he says a
lot in interviews, online. The rabbit hole is very deep and
dirty.

Missing DA Was Tied To Sandusky Case (http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/news/local_news/missing-da-was-tied-to-sandusky-case)
Updated: Friday, 11 Nov 2011, 6:38 AM EST
Published : Thursday, 10 Nov 2011, 5:09 PM EST
The district attorney who didn't prosecute former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky for sex crimes in 1998 went missing in 2005, a fact that is now getting a lot of attention.
Ray Gricar was the long-time district attorney of Centre County, the home of Penn State's main campus. He was months from retirement when he simply vanished on his way home to Bellefonte, Pa.
The mystery surrounding Gricar's disappearance in 2005 was the subject of several national TV shows and an effort involving the FBI and state investigators.
The attorney's car was found in Lewisburg, Pa., about 60 miles east of Bellefonte, about 12 hours after he called home. Several months later, his laptop computer and a destroyed hard drive were found.
But no one found Gricar's body.
Bruce Castor knew Gricar well. Castor is currently a Montgomery County Pa. commissioner and a former county district attorney who worked with Gricar.
"I never saw any evidence from Ray that he was showing any favoritism towards Penn State or the hometown or anything like that. He was a by the book guy," Castor said.
Fox 29 has confirmed the FBI has an open file on Gricar but it’s unknown if the case is still active.
But a missing person's poster for Gricar is still on the FBI Web site, even though Gricar was legally declared dead in July 2011.
So what happened to Gricar?
"I am now leaning towards the conclusion that it was foul play by someone who would have a motive to specifically target him," Castor says.
"If somebody really wants to get a prosecutor , they can. Especially in the country like that," Castor added.
Gricar appears in the grand jury presentment in the Jerry Sandusky sex-crimes case as the DA who didn't prosecute Sandusky after a six-week investigation in 1998 in Center County.
Gricar got the case after a boy's mother complained to police after her son showered with Sandusky.
According to the grand jury presentment, Penn State University police were also involved in the 1998 Sandusky case.
Gricar's office was the only local or state agency contacted about an alleged victim of Sandusky, a long-time Paterno assistant who retired in 1999 but continued to run a charity to help at-risk children.
So why didn't Gricar file charges against Sandusky?
"I would be stunned if it was for any reason other than he simply did not think he had the evidence," Castor said.
Did Gricar know about the new allegations concerning Sandusky that surfaced three years before he disappeared?
Castor admits it raises a lot of questions.
"You don't know if something happened thereafter to get him to look at it again," Castor says.
"I would be very surprised if ultimately he was not discovered somewhere assuming he's not still alive out there laughing at us," Castor adds.

Penn State Makes A Banana-Flavored Jerry Sandusky Ice Cream (http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2011/11/05/penn-state-makes-a-banana-flavored-jerry-sandusky-ice-cream/)
You might not know this, but Penn State is pretty well-known for their ice cream. Yes, the Penn State Creamery makes around 100 different flavors and some of them are named after famous Penn State figures. One of those delicious ice cream flavors is named after former defensive coordinator and current Jerry Sandusky. Yes, that would be the same Jerry Sandusky facing felony charges of sexual abuse against minors. Sandusky Blitz – “a banana flavored ice cream with chocolate covered peanuts and caramel swirl.” Screen cap below. You know, just in case the flavor is discontinued.

Some further searching returns this article from 2009:
Foul play theory weakened (http://www.centredaily.com/2009/04/15/1228995/foul-play-theory-weakened.html)
What was believed to be the hard drive from his county-issued laptop computer was found in the Susquehanna River six months later, separated from the computer itself, which had earlier been found in the river.
Two FBI labs and Kroll Ontrack, a company that was able to recover data from hard drives on board Space Shuttle Columbia after it was destroyed, all evaluated the hard drive and concluded it was too damaged for data to be recovered.
“This information is very important to the investigation,” Rickard said. “It, in and of itself, focuses on the possibility of walkaway or suicide. However, it certainly does not eliminate the possibility of homicide.”
There have been few, if any, credible leads since the discovery of the hard drive in the Susquehanna.

Penn State faces Moody’s rating downgrade (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/penn-state-faces-moodys-rating-downgrade-2011-11-11?link=MW_home_latest_news)
It’s likely that the fallout still has a long way to go, though, as prospective donors and students digest the full extent of the wrongdoings in State College, Pa.; the university also faces possible lawsuits from Sandusky’s alleged victims. Moody’s said Penn State has about $1 billion of rated debt.
“Over the next several months, Moody’s will evaluate the potential scope of reputational and financial risk arising from these events,” the ratings agency said in a statement. “While the full impact of these increased risks will only unfold over a period of years, we will also assess the degree of near- and medium-term risks to determine whether to downgrade the current Aa1 rating.
“We will monitor possible emerging risks emanating from potential lawsuits/settlements, weaker student demand, declines in philanthropic support, changes in state relationship and significant management or governance changes,” according to Moody’s
Also Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported on its online edition that “about a half-dozen” advertisers have pulled ads from ESPN broadcasts. The report cited an unnamed media buyer as saying clients were being advised to move away from those games.

Football announcer (pre-game) let it be known to the general public that PENN STATE FOOTBALL took in $72,000,000 last year alone, $52,000,000 was pure profit.
So THAT's the price of 1 little boy's innocence, eh?
Paterno's son has been on football staff for 17 years? Now on leave of absence?
And what's this big "prayer meeting mid-field" between both teams symbolistic gesture all about?
I am a prayin' man, make no mistake, but I'm not too sure God is listening to a bunch of football players who were "in on it" in one way, shape or form. Small comfort Sandusky wasn't in the huddle leading the public prayer meetin' and holdin' Joe's hand during the mid-field photo-op.
Like someone posted earlier...the obvious and now exposed humans are only the tip of the iceberg...this thing goes so deep and soo wide, that only God knows the depth and extent. And it is obviously Multi-Generational, or else "little Joe" wouldn't be in on it for 17 years...if memory serves, it was going on at least since 1988 according to that sickening .pdf Grand Jury findings document, which would be 23 years ago...and "Joe Jr.," was heir apparent?

Jerry Sandusky and Gary Schultz continue to receive generous Penn State pensions
[/center]
Published: Saturday, November 12, 2011, 7:32 PM
By JAN MURPHY, The Patriot-News (http://connect.pennlive.com/user/jmurphy/index.html)
Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky (http://www.pennlive.com/jerry-sandusky/) and ousted Vice President Gary Schultz (http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/11/penn_states_curley_schultz_are.html) will likely continue to be very well paid by the university.
Sandusky was indicted last week on 40 counts of child sex abuse charges. Schultz was charged with perjury before the grand jury investigating the Sandusky case, which is also a felony, along with failing to report suspected child abuse.

Photo Credit: JOE HERMITT, The Patriot-News
Gary Schultz enters District Judge William Wenner's court room for his arraignment on perjury charges stemming from the grand jury investigation of former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky.
When he retired, Sandusky opted to take a lump-sum pension payment of $148,271 from the State Employees’ Retirement System. The rest of his pension is being paid out monthly and is $58,898 annually.
Schultz could be far more richly paid. He elected to receive a $421,847 lump-sum payment at the time of his retirement in 2009, after nearly 39 years of service.
He also receives a monthly pension payment of $27,558 :o:o:o — nearly the cost of tuition for two in-state freshmen at State College. That comes to nearly $331,000 a year.
Schultz had returned to his former post in September on an interim basis while the university conducted a national search for a permanent appointee.
Pension information for former Athletic Director Tim Curley, charged with perjury and failing to report suspected child abuse along with Schultz, was not available because he Curley did not participate in the state pension system.
Ousted President Graham Spanier also was not a member of the state pension system.
The Patriot-News has submitted a request for longtime football coach Joe Paterno’s pension. Information about Paterno’s and Schultz’s pensions is now public information as a result of a five-year court battle launched by The Patriot-News in 2002. That lawsuit, which went all the way to the state Supreme Court, removed a shroud of secrecy that Penn State had demanded for university employees who participated in the pension plan.

Highlighted quotes from the game commentary.
After week's turmoil Penn State finally plays (http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/ct-spt-1113-penn-state--20111113,0,2775398.story)
The way the game ended, perhaps symbolically, was chaotic.
"I think you saw a lot of character, a lot of resolve, by this team," he said. "I liked the way they stuck together … we fought hard."
He then turned his attention to the alleged victims in the child sex-abuse scandal that has rocked Penn State's program.
"We grieve for the victims," Bradley said. "We feel sad for the families and the children. What went on today was all about them."
When Paterno's firing was announced, there was rioting in the streets. A news van was turned over on the street, and rocks and bottles were thrown.
Since then, cooler heads have prevailed.
Friday night, thousands attended a candlelight vigil for the alleged victims.
On Saturday, fans who typically wear all-white at home games bathed the stadium in a sea of blue to another acknowledgement to the victims of sexual abuse.
There was a moment of silence before the game and an emotional rendition of the school's alma mater before the team's final home game of the season, when Nittany Lions' seniors were honored.
A few players wore blue shirts under their uniforms with letters that read, "Joe knows football." Dozens of former players showed up to give current team members their support.
Shirtless students in the front row had painted their chests light blue with white letters than spelled out, at least partially, "For the kids."
