i've been looking for a cookset that nests together, feeds four, is all metal, has a frying pan and a decent size pot, bowls, plates and cups...so far i haven't been able to find anything that meets all the above criteria...

MEC has some nice sets from $91 - $160, but none of them have everything i want...

any recommendations?

I would check REI or Cabelas no matter what set you get the frying pan is going to suck

FOr wilderness cooking that does not care about weight I take a cast iron...hell if I am not hiking far I still cary my 6" cast iron in the back pack. The cast iron pan does wonders sorting out the uneven heat you get with outdoor cooking

A few questions might help taylor some answers:

Are you concerned with weight?
Are enameled steel ok?
end use? (car camping, SHTF, stash in hunting lodge?)

--yes
--i would prefer stainless
--primary use = canoe tripping

imo, the right set would be used in all the scenarios you mentioned...

Freespirit do you have any flea markets where u live ? I just scored an awesome stainless steel set for almost nothing at a flea market.

there are some within driving distance that have some variety, but nothing really close. at least not close enough to bother wasting the fuel to go there...lol

...do you have any pics of it?

mightymanx--

i checked those links you posted...the enameled set doesn't nest, the one has no fry pan, and the other two have plastic lids that will melt. i can get both of those at MEC, but wouldn't waste the money...
i'm pretty sure it will have to be a stainless set, but hey, i got all winter to find one...lol

thanks for posting the links though...
