I have followed Celente for a few years. I still follow him, but I'm aware of his redundancy. He regurgitates the "coming crash," and he picked December of 2009 as the first of many "crashes."

Now, a crash may happen. Or, a significant slid downward may happen. (I am VERY pessimistic.)

But Celente has to work and eat like the rest of us. The "crash" is his product.

Well Barbarian I was for him 100% but now only 60-65%....... he was not doing what he was preaching......... the only good thing about his failure is that he is so danm pissed off that he no longer will take any crap from anyone and from now on will be naming names.

By the way, welcome to our site.......you have been blessed by the great one hahahahahahahahah.

I'd pay to see paper metals go to zero.

"Paper metals". The ultimate oxymoron.

When you buy large quantities of gold, you buy futures contracts for delivery of the metal.

There is a stage of paper in the middle that ALL big players go through. I don't see this loss of Celente's as hypocrisy. I wish I had the ability to buy a futures contract.

why not just spend the $100K at Tulving or APMex or Provident - on a day when the prices are right ?

Indeed you are right! But then you have to either buy a safe that would cost you upwards of $100, or dig a hole or several to keep it safe. It is much safer and convenient to buy an electronic promise. Of course with the electronic promise, you can earn multiple's of what you would have earned with a cash for physical, but on the other hand you could be forced to sell at a disadvantage, if you don't fullfill the margin requirements, and run the risk that your counterparty doesn't have what he promised to deliver...

Well, based upon what happened to Celente recently, it doesn't seem safer to me. I'll stay away from paper promises. Plus, what fun is that anyway? You can't fondle paper. Paper isn't shiny and pretty to look at. It's like choosing a blow up doll over a real woman.

What do you think they do when they want to buy gold?

Yea, but a blow up doll doesn't talk back.

This is an apt anology.
