I am surprised they just didn't take the money, isn't that standard procedure now?

He only had $4000 and they held him because he was suspicious? The guy was too polite and wishy-washy. He should have demanded they explain why he needs to answer questions and ask why he was under suspicion. What law was being violated? What crime do you suspect me of violating? Am I under arrest? If I am under arrest, you need to know that you are under suspicion of committing crimes against me by false arrest and arrest without cause.

The second thing I would demand (after demanding to know if I was under arrest) is to hear the articulable cause of the *arresting officer*.

Somehow there's gotten to be this notion that cops cannot be held accountable for their actions, and the corrupt asshole judges back them up without question nor hesitation.

It's very difficult to get a handle on slimy snakes.
