Just picked up one of the little Beretta Bobcats for $225 NIB, which I couldn't pass up. Any input on this little pocket pistol would be appreciated.

Don't know much about the Bobcat, but I used to own a Jaguar... the Bobcat appears to be a similar pistol.

I loved shooting it... accurate and very easy to service.

I realize most dis the lil .22 LR, however I opted for the Bobcat 'cause I cannot afford one of these in 9mm (for $1,100+) as literally a pocket pistol -

Not familiar with that model. The Bobcat has a tip-up barrel and no extractor, relying on blowback to extract the spent case.

Same with the Jag. If the Bobcat is the improved version of the Jag I wouldn't mind having one.

Unfortunately, I am chronically -$

I do not own one, but I would like to. It would make an awesome pocket gun. I'm of the mind that you should either go full size or go as small as possible. I'm the same way with trucks. I see no use for a 1/2 or 3/4. If it's too big for a LUV to haul, get a tonner.

With that theory, he might have done even worse and picked up a .25 auto.

My brother has one but he doesn't like it one bit. It jams up every few rounds. He doesn't even use it anymore.

I don't know if it's damaged or if that's just how they are.

Ammo?

From what I gather they are finicky about the ammo you feed them. There are mixed reviews on them. I'm going to try it with various hi-vel ammo and then have my gunsmith give it a going over to improve reliability.

It's not a combat pistol, that's for sure. The mag release is in the lower quadrant on the left side of the grip to the rear and the magazine only holds six rounds. It's for getting the drop on some varmint, and not a gang of varmints. If I expect a gang of varmints then it's going to be the Glock 27 and some hi-cap mags. I love my G27, although I wish my G30SF was as light - huge difference between the two when loaded.

Although many don't put much faith in the .22 LR, hits at close range in the throat/face will definitely take the fight out of someone. (.25 ACP is a joke, there have been cases of the .25 embedding in someone's forehead, i.e. not penetrating the skull)

Maybe they were thick headed?

i have one. it's awesome if you use 32 grain ammo. with mine, anything other than 32 grain causes it to jam over + over + over. i use cci stinger, no problems as long as i use that.
