BLACKSBURG, Va. – DEVELOPING: A police officer was reportedly shot to death Thursday on Virginia Tech's campus.
The university's Collegiate Times newspaper reported the fatality at about 1:30 p.m. A potential second victim has been reported at a campus parking lot, the university announced on its website.
The suspect, according to the posting, is described as a white male wearing gray sweatpants and a gray hat with a neon green brim. He was believed to traveling on foot near McComas Hall, a campus gym.
Messages seeking comment from school officials were not immediately returned.
"There is an active campus alert in Blacksburg," read a notice on the school's website. "Everyone should seek shelter or stay where you are. Blacksburg Transit service is suspended until the alert is lifted."
Paramedics were seen assisting a person on the ground of a campus parking lot, a witness told FOX News Channel.
On April 16, 2007, Seung-Hui Cho, a senior English major at the school, killed 32 students and faculty before committing suicide.

This is incredibly sad. Va. Tech is such a nice university, bunch of good kids. My thoughts out to victims and to students who, on top of the stress of finals, must be feeling pretty on edge. Thoughts also to the officers who are doing their job in keeping the campus safe. Hopefully the suspect will be apprehended without further harm.

The said thing is that this is used by the liberal agenda as more fuel for their anti-gun rights fire. The liberal mentality is a classic example of treating a symptom rather than the problem itself. The concern should be with the victims, the officers involved, and the students. This isn't some opportunity for a polemic against guns. That's pretty disrespectful in my opinion.
That simple adage has never been more true: Guns don't kill people. People kill people.
Mental illness rates are increasing. We need to address the fundamental problem itself. Eliminating guns isn't going to make people any less sick. They'll just start driving vehicles onto sidewalks or something instead.

Guess we better ban pencils, pens, knives, vehicles, hoes, shovels, rakes, picks (do these grounds keepers have permits for their tools?), bowling balls, baseballs, softballs, weights, and everything else that can be used to kill a person.

Statement from Virginia Tech (https://www.facebook.com/virginiatech): Shortly after noon today, a Virginia Tech police officer stopped a vehicle on campus during a routine traffic stop in the Coliseum parking lot near McComas Hall.
During the traffic stop, the officer was shot and killed. There were witnesses to this shooting.
Witnesses reported to police the shooter fled on foot heading toward the Cage, a parking lot near Duck Pond Drive. At that parking lot, a second person was found. That person is also deceased.
Several law enforcement agencies have responded to assist. Virginia State Police has been requested to take lead in the investigation
The status of the shooter is unknown. The campus community should continue to shelter in place and visitors should not come to campus.

Looks like details aren't going to emerge. Things just continue to get weirder and weirder.
