Went online to check my account, and it kept telling me wrong password or login name, then it went to another page, and wanted me to enter all kinds of info, it all looks exactly like the chase webpage and, nope I didn't give any info and called them, they said maybe its a fishing expedition or virus.
anyhow they didn't get my info, used a different browser and it worked fine.
They wanted, my mothers madein name, my ss,drivers license # and exp, atm card # and that special code on it, and more.
To bad suckers your not getting mine !!!

All kidding aside, You may have what is called a "trojon" avast may not catch it if you do.
Download and run a full scan, this is one of the best there is for protection. And the free
is just as good, but the payed version adds a few more layers of protection.

And when it is finished, check and see if it is updated with the latest stuff, if not, have it check for updates and run it again.

zap, i get all that stuff from majorgeeks ;) if you get the sygate firewall (its free) you can backtrace the ip addresses and see whos messing with you. It has some annoying popups but i still love it. +1 on updating and running malwarebytes!

That was a JOB! Just try and explain to someone new to this kind of stuff, using chat! And my terminology and hers did not mix well--LOL.
By the end I was pulling my hair, because 3/4's of the time she ignored my questions, about what was going on with her system, so big time guesses on my part...
LOVED IT!

30 infected items , what now? You should be able to delete them or keep then in quarantine. They can not bother you now. Dam, 30? Girl you need to run that program more often or set it up so it runs all the time in the background.
Find in the top menu, check for updates and run the full scan again. Then look in the menus and select the program to run on startup, reboot option.

Woman!! Girrr One is one too many for what they can do to your system. Think of these Trojans and add ware like this.
Little yapper comes home from school, and you brush her hair, and you find a nit! Would you freak out if you found one head lice nit? Would you clean the hell out of your house, and her hair trying to get rid of them?
Think of that software as computer head lice, that can also cause you trouble with others and the health of your computer..
Kapeesh?
This kind of shit is just normal day to day stuff for computer users! Nothing really special.
Edit: Just read you had another one, question, you already had the program on your computer and did not just download using the old link?
If the program was already installed, reinstall it from the new link I posted.
Or you may have to run that program several times,
Last and maybe best question, when you ran the scans, were you using your browser all the time? If so , get off the net close all background programs that you may have running, then run the program again and be sure it is updated before you do.
We will get the nits that are infecting your computer.

Ok so if it has lice, where are they coming from and how do I keep them outta my hair? Just keep running scans everyday?
I used the old version malwarebytes,(found 30) then I updated it and ran it on a fast one (found 1), then I updated it again and am running a full one, and I don't know if I was using my browser the whole time, maybe part of the time? So when I go to bed I will run a full one without my browser open? :)
Thankyou once again.

Thankyou once again. Yes close all the programs that you may have running , and let the malwarebytes program run, the old ver will be the same as the new once you updated it.
To keep from being nitted all the time, you need to have that program run all of the time, and it looks like the free ver will not do it and run automatically and run in the background. You could throw some money at the malwarebytes site and get a years protection.
Or others here may know a program that is free that is just as good as malwarebytes.
Sounds like the update, added new definitions to its list and when you ran the program again, it caught that last one. But to be sure all web browsers and open programs you have running need to be closed, for the malware program to do its job the best way it can.
Hope this helps.

ie the newer bugs weren't in the definitions.
Zap, not all things it finds are equally bad.
ie a trojan is worse than a tracking cookie.
What exactly did it say you had?
As far as how to keep all that stuff off your PC, it's harder than most think it should be because there are new ones popping up everyday and they can only be included in the definitions after they crop up on enough PCs to be noticed.
Also, every bug cannot be expected to be found with a single software package.
ie they all catch most of them but not all of them and what one finds, another might not.
Superantispyware is another good free one, but needs to be updated regularly.
Ccleaner can be set to delete all cookies and temp files everytime you exit your browser.
Spywareblaster will help prevent activeX malware.
A good site to learn about all this stuff and more importantly, what to do about it, is http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/
If you want automatic updates and real-time protection, I believe that in most cases you'll need to purchase the software.
Or use bit torrent, I suppose, to get the cracked version.....if you trust it. >:D C'mon in, said the spider to the fly. lol

Bittorrent is just not worth the time or risk, IMHO. CC is good but not for Trojans. But you are right about the definitions, when a new bug hits there is a slight lag until there are definitions for it for the protection programs.
And knowing Zap as I think, the 20-30 bucks for a years protection, no fuss, no muss or worry's,, buying one years protection is well worth the peace of mind.
I do not worry about it and use the free stuff, Microsoft security essentials and others because I scan my machine at least every one or two days rain or shine.

No problem, Dam girl that is some kind of record at least from my side of the screen, Look at getting the full blown years protection, that will install and run in the background all the time, and set it to scan everyday when ever you want it to. Then everything will be automatic, and should keep you nit free. With my wireless router and programs installed, not much makes it past my system. Once malwarebytes is installed it should scan everything incoming, email and such and your nit invasion should stop!
Good luck, and have a great night. If up for a few more hours, go outside and watch some falling stars. and if up in the early morning you may see a great show outside.

That's fine zap. You don't have to go there now to read up on it, but if you ever get something you can't easily get rid of, that's a good place to find out how to fix it.
One of the biggest problems people face with this stuff is knowing where to go online to get accurate knowledge about the problem their PC is having.
Bittorrent is just not worth the time or risk,I've used it quite successfully for years with nary a problem.
ie how good or bad it is, is mostly about ones habits.
IMHO. CC is good but not for Trojans.None of them do it all, which is why it's best to use a few different ones, as each seem to have their strong points as well as weak points.
But you are right about the definitions, when a new bug hits there is a slight lag until there are definitions for it for the protection programs.
And knowing Zap as I think, the 20-30 bucks for a years protection, no fuss, no muss or worry's,, buying one years protection is well worth the peace of mind.Yea, it's probably not a bad idea for her. As pressed for time as she is.
On an aside, her "day in the life" post made me tired just reading it. lol
...but if I had to only pick one to pay for though, I think I'd go for superantispyware myself, because IMO it has better features. But Malwarebytes is good too.
I do not worry about it and use the free stuff, Microsoft security essentials and others because I scan my machine at least every one or two days rain or shine.Same here. I don't have issues with the stuff, but I see alotta people who do.
...and having kids on your PC doesn't help keep 'em clean, either.

With in a short time she concidered herself and expert and would not listen to me about being careful on opening unknown files and sites. This was back in the dial up days and it was all I could do to keep the system clean of all of the viruses and crap that would infect the computer. Kids at least can learn if you go about teaching them right! LOL..
It seems like Zap is well on her way getting on top of her problem, hardheaded or not she does listen and learns , even if she is kicking and screaming she has a headache because her brain is too full. LOL.
