Hit or miss jerky, but that also can be just the web, mostly fine here.

I said yes in chat last nite. I keep getting the timed out page. I think the General was having problems also. Tiney chat threw me out, and I was using a separate link, This place has no connection with the chat site, other than the link,

My problem, was flash causing freeze ups, and then blow me off the net.

It's bad and getting worse it seems...I didn't even think this post was gonna post. You know how to ping sites? Check a few others, and this one. I had the same problem you are describing, a week or so back, when we had that bad frame on the first page here.

Have had problems all week.

First I thought my internet might be getting throttled at home. ATT DSL. I wouldn't put it past the bastards. It was for all sites at home.
This site does seem exceptional to the slowness to me.

At work however, it's only gsus that times out, slow, like 2 minutes slow and a off text screen that shows up. No problems with really any other site. This is a cable company connection.

Using FF at home and IE7 at work.

I was wondering if we were getting hit somehow.

Every other site I go to is running lightning quick, even streams and vids...but just refreshing a GSUS page is a cluster.

Humm, almost sounds like a repeat, of the last time,

Maybe others will check in and report any problems.

Zippy connection for me at the moment.

Ahh jeez. Well, things seem normal for me but let me alert the boss that there are problems. Hang in there, everyone.

I mentioned something about this a couple weeks ago but I was the ONLY one having probs. Just the way it is, refresh on top of refresh is the norm for me now.

Here's another thing...I can't refresh most times but if I come in through a bookmark it allows me to read 1..maybe 2 threads before the lag/time outs start. IDK?

WHere was this hiding on your PC?It's in C:\Program Files\PersonalAntiSpy Free\pas.exe and is called PersonalAntiSpy.
It's a rogue AV program that tries to trick you into giving them your CC#

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-personalantispy < how to remove.

I'd say that if it came from here, everyone would have it and I don't have it.

It's just the DHS tagging extra shit on when intercepting your posts. Take longer to process.

I was having issues earlier today while at work (from about 11am-4pm EST)...couldn't get links to load, took ~5minutes or so for each link to load, I never got a timeout though. it was extremely annoying though

Ok,

Just had a database error page show on a reload page, but a quick reload brought the site back.

There defiantly is something in the software wood pile here! And it taint mice.

I have no Idea.

I kept getting this message that it was trying to connect to the internet. My firewall wouldn't let it.

This started when I got home today. I know that the icon for the malware was a pink apple, like the company apple logo.

Malware and adware makes me want to become a cybergeek who hunts these scumbags down... literally. Would probably make a good movie. Anyway- I have not had any problems recently.

what kind of Internet are you on (dial-up, DSL, etc.)

for sure one thing that causes page loading problems is page size. the base HTML for these pages is minimal, but each page has 300 kB+ minimum of Javascript & related HTML files - i only counted the ones 10K or bigger.

just as a test - how does your browser work when you load a Craigslist page ?

i just looked at one in the 4 sale category with 100 listings - only 35K total. loads fast.

one other possibility is switching browsers ... or trying different browsers when you have Task Manager open, to see which one bogs down your personal computer vs. web page load time.

Gundriller, DSL or Cable. I tried a larger CL page and it was almost instant. I can always try Safari if it gets any more out of hand.

it's good to try different browsers and your experience might be different than mine. i find that Safari is a memory hog - on some computers.

i have a dual-core laptop that can run Firefox & Netscape 4.79 (aka Seamonkey, one of Mozilla's side-projects) - AND a 3D modelling application. but as soon as i fire up Safari - it's Game Over. on that laptop it has Vista 32 'Ultimate' (as in Ultimate Rip-off ?).

i find a lot of web page loading problems can be gotten around by switching browsers. also by re-booting. also by minimizing how many mainstream media web pages you have open because they tend to have a lot of video ads which suck up system resources.

Last night I had a database error message from this site when I did a page reload. But it did not display an error code. It cleared up as soon as I did another reload. Plus going by what others have said, I do not think it is any individual members problem. I could be wrong,

Question can a user get a site database error, and there is nothing wrong with the forum/site, itself?

The only times I have seen this happening here and at the old home site, was when something was wrong with the site itself.

And it can not be a coincidence that several members are reporting problems all at the same time! Scattered randomly, yes I can see it happening.

But not all at once. IMHO
