View Full Version : OK, I'm starting to get concerned I have a major ear infection

About a month or so ago, I had a really bad case of the flu. What I noticed was that my hearing specifically in my right ear had gone to hell in a hand basket.
So about 3 weeks ago I went to the Healthnet doctor and he said take these pills and use these ear drops. Well it worked a little, but it's not gone and it's getting worse. The majority I hear from my right ear are low tones, the highs are very hard to hear.
I think tomorrow I'm going to go back to the doctor and tell him I want to see a specialist.
What I don't want to happen is for him to not refer me to a specialist, is there something I can say or demand that forces him to do that since he's just a general practitioner?

I've never had a GP ever deny me access to a specialist, but admittedly I don't really do doctors.
Is this GP familiar with your unmatched dick-stabbing skills? I doubt he would give you a hard time if he was.
Hell, if you haven't improved, he may just suggest a specialist himself. Hope you feel better soon!
Oh, and make sure you are taking your Vitamin D, DAMMIT!

Just ask to be referred to a specialist. He should do it without too much trouble. Unless he's some asshole jew doctor. ;D

I don't know what a healthnet Dr. is ? Drs. of Duty? Do you have to have a refferal?
I usually just make myself a appointment to whatever specialist I think I need.

Even better. Cut out a middleman.

I'm not an ENT but if I had your symptoms this is what I would do:
1. make sure there is no ear wax. Have a friend take a look. Maybe use one of those ignitable ear wax wicks to pull any crap out.
2. take an oral decongestant to reduct fluid in middle ear.
3. flood ear canal with colloidal silver and lay with the ear up overnight. This will kill any infection in the external ear and might treat the middle ear through diffusion
4. eliminate anything that might be an allergin: dust, dander, certain foods, drugs.
Hope this helps.

Ear infections can be a mofo. I just got over one a couple months ago. It took over a year to get rid of it!
I got this infection from a swimming pool.
I constantly flushed it on and off as it seemed to come and go. I finally saw a doc. She said it's best to try to let your body cure it on it's own and they don't like to give medication for a period if you can't shake it.
She gave me some "Ciprodex" drops. It took a couple weeks or so of constant cleaning and drops, and another couple weeks to heal.
Shit can make you crazy!
In think your case, you don't have far to go.
edit: I think benedryl helped too.

Crush up a few cloves of raw garlic in a spoon, and swig it down with some orange juice a few times a day. Not on an empty stomach though. Garlic is a full spectrum antibiotic.
Maybe dip a q-tip in some hydrogen peroxide, and do some mild exploration?
Ear infections can suck really bad. Used to work with someone that had them a lot as a child, and buddy lost about 30-40% of his hearing.
On top of that look into immune system boosting foods. Get enough sleep, and de stress.

GOd I had a ear infection a while back I wrote about it here, But usually with me I am A-symtomatic, no pain no symtoms anyhow at 3.00 in the am I woke up and couldn't hear outta my right ear, so of course I freaked out and went to the Dr. at 8, and he looks and say oh you have a masive infection, and don't be surprised if your ear starts bleeding cause your eardrum will prolly pop, yes it did later that day, but all hearing was restored and I guess the eardrum can heal up.

To bad you can't buy prescriptions over the counter in the US, like many other countries.
With the internet to diagnose illness and the drugs needed, you could cure yourself without paying doctors or running health care costs up.

From Mercola's site: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2002/03/27/hydrogen-peroxide-part-two.aspx
Now for my story that happened within two days after I read your original letter.
I went to the ENT specialist all the time and they were always giving me hearing tests. The last test the nurse remarked that my hearing was more diminished then ever because the Eustachian tube was so blocked. They wanted to give me the usual antibiotics and other stuff (which never worked anyway) and I just took the scripts like a good girl and went my way -- rather disgusted with the whole scenario.
I came home and applied the peroxide in a laying down position. I didn't hear any bubbling -- that's because the tube was just about totally blocked and the liquid wasn't even going down into the right place.
After a few minutes I felt a little trickle and heard a little something that sounded like bubbling. On the next application...the process didn't take so many minutes but on the third application the liquid went swooshing down into my ear the minute I squeezed the drops in.
I shook a quick shake when the peroxide hit the bottom of the canal. I heard a lot of bubbling. That day I started to hear again especially in my right ear and the pressure in my head left. I felt balanced as if the Eustachian tube had opened. I heard things in stereo instead of just from my left ear. I was ecstatic!
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I have lots of bottles of peroxide in my medicine cabinet now. What a wonderful natural remedy.

A very well known good doctor in my area was always big on using warmed Olive oil in the ear.

You voluntarily engaged in a social contract with the bacteria. send a notice registered to the bacteria of a cease and desist notarized airmail. if the bacteria don't respond within 30 days, your infection will magically disappear.

I heard cannabis is supposed to be REAL good for curing ALL kinds of ailments.
Anyhoo, hope you feel better soon.
When we get them I take a couple cloves of garlic, chop them up,
infuse the garlic in some olive oil, let sit for like a half an hour.
Strain. Warm it up just a little bit by putting it in a bowl & then putting it over top of another bowl that has hot water in it to make the bowl on top get warm.
Put 2-3 drops in your ear & put some cotton in it & lay down.
(If you don't want to make it, a good health food store might have a garlic oil/ ear drop formula (sometimes with mullein in it)
And pick up a tincture of echinacea angustifolia & take 1 dropperful 3 times a day.
Natural/herbal antibiotics taken orally & in the ear will help clear it.

like the good doc said.......get into to an ENT guy...or girl.....been swimming lately? ..as mentioned a lot of times you get them from being immersed in water a lot, fluid gets trapped behind a waxy build up and pools....then wah-lah some gram-positive bacteria sets up shop (hope it's not a gram negative rod like a pseudomonas...they're much harder to treat)

Ear infections are pretty much the only time I will take antibiotics.
They are just too painful to weather out.

Get some food grade h202. Dilute it down to to 3% pour about a teaspoon into your ear twice a day for a few minutes with the bad ear pointing up. If that doesn't work I would go with the collidial silver or garlic. Leave the anitbiotics for a last resort.

Here's a video General of Joe Mercola talking about and showing you how to use hydrogen peroxide in your ears. I've done this and it seems to make me feel better and gives me more energy.
I also have a book called the "One Minute Cure" by Madison Cavanaugh on using 35% food grade hydregen peroxide to keep you healthy. I take a few drops of it most every day and I'm never sick.
Hope this helps you get the shit out of your ears;D

Why not try having someone blow smoke in your ear?
Grandma did it.

Don't mess around. A few drops of oregano oil sublingually a couple of times a day will have the bugs boring holes to escape your jurisdiction.
A side effect is that you will find Italian girls attracted to you.

Seems what works for you doesn't work for me.
