FANTASTIC!

Milton NAILED when pressed on the 'Evil' of greed and Capitalism.........."All societies run on greed. You dont think the Communist run on greed?"

Phil Donahue is an intellectual SLOTH in comparison to Mr Friedman.

Here's another one. Friedman does a great job of moving the kid in circles while allowing the kid to poke holes into his own thoughts.
The kid is not MM.

Shouldn't the question be, should Ford be allowed to sell a product that puts other drivers at risk? If the gas tank explosions were killing the other drivers that collide with the deficient vehicle.
I agree on the basis you decide what risk you are willing to accept to yourself, so long as a known deficiency, or data of, is not concealed.
No laws should be created to protect you from yourself. I am against seat belt and helmet laws.

I was thinking that the buyers should have had that data available to them at the time of purchase. This goes in hand with the elimination of the flashy advertising that is only meant to lull the sheep.

I think the point that Freidman should have tied in is that with the larger the .gov regulating body (keep us safe), then you will see more money funneled to those politicians that govern .gov regulators. Big corps can then not only sustain but also grow their monopolies. This failure is quite evident in the Donahue interview.

Edit.

In the fifth Donahue vid, Freidman completely fails. He doesn't believe that the lure of big profits would push defense industry interests to influence the government to go to war.

I like how he cuts the kid off, the kid could have probably made a case but this interview shows how they pimp the newshats and mainstream by cutting everything off where they are uncertain. If this kid had an allotted time to present his case then it would (possibly) be a completely different outcome.

Since viewing this thread I've watched nearly 2 hours off his video and now I'm on his second PBS show.

If you go to google videos and type in Milton Friedman Free to Chose you can watch them.

I will say, he's pretty spot on.

I think you're off the mark here. The biggest problem I have with Friedman is the fact that globally there is constant government regulation and government control, either positive or negative and doing nothing and expecting the market to react has done the opposite to Amerikwan manufacturing. The business went where the labor was the cheapest.

I'm watching this video right now.

And 30 years ago we sent our stuff to be assembled in China etc, now we're the ones doing the assembling, if that. In a free market the worker gets exploited, but he also has the option to make his skills better, to improve him or her's self. Here in the Kwa, the guberment will provide. You suck as kid, don't worry here's a metal, you suck as an adult here's a guberment job with a pension better than I can get and I'm doing pretty decent.

You suck at life, here's a pill, you've got an IQ of 70 but have produced 15 kids here's welfare. More guberment involvement means more destruction to an economy. Personal responsibility, what the fuck is that in the KWA?

I refer you to my above post. The communist label may have been rash, but something is not setting right with me.

I don't believe Freidman could be naive enough to believe that governments are not influenced by corporations. If he changed this view later in life, then I will reassess what I think of him.
