Police say Montana man who was denied painkillers shot himself in ankle to get treatment

MILES CITY, Mont. - Montana authorities say a man shot himself in the ankle after hospital staff refused to give him painkillers for his back.

The Miles City police chief says the 48-year-old man was upset when left Holy Rosary Healthcare hospital Monday night, so he grabbed a gun from his car and shot himself in the hospital parking lot to get treatment.

Prosecutors are reviewing the case to determine whether to charge the man, whose name was not released.

The Miles City Star reports ( http://goo.gl/buHbK) the hospital was temporarily locked down after the shooting.

They are trained to notice "medication seeking" behavior. Unfortunately a lot of honest people get washed out in this. It is very hard to diagnose a back problem at a hospital.

Poor guy should have gone to a massage therapist, or bodyworker.

Apparently it is unlawful for slaves to injure themselves.

Destruction or vandalism of privately held property by anyone except the owner is always a crime. : )

It amazes me how many people do not believe that we own our own bodies.

A simple test will confirm or deny this concept:

Stand on the steps of the FDA building in D.C. with a quart jar of raw milk and a sandwich sign proclaiming your intention to swallow same.

Didn't you mean "how many people believe they own their own body?"

that's one of the ways American doctors exert control and make BIIIIIIGGG $$ - by being the "gate-keepers" for people's pain. in MANY other countries, you can buy the painkillers over the counter - the doctors don't try to make an extra $X00 by writing a prescription for anti-inflammatories/ painkillers.

though for this guy in Montana - malt liquor is a lot cheaper than a hospital visit.

there are still some pain-killers that can be purchased over the counter, even in the US.
